  1. how durable are they? at over $1.10 a pop they are pretty spendy AL
  2. always take motrin before you go to bed... soon as you get up drink a LOT of water... always helped me... either that or know when to say when... but mannnnnnnnnnnnnn sometimes you just can't say when ;D my going away party in December is going to be one of those times AL
  3. wow Randal, I just asked the wife if after we got to Fort Stewart I could hire a trip with you... she said go for it... hmmmm I think that would be a blast... help me get my new BP! Senko I think you need to come along too! I need all the guidance and coaching I can get! AL
  4. Hey Mike, I live in Manitowoc, well for the next two months :'( then I am moving to Georgia AL
  5. I was fishing a tournament on Sturgeon Bay a few weeks ago.. this guy pulls up that isn't in the tournament and starts fishing not 50 feet away.. and starts pulling smallie after smallie out.. I WAS ticked... not because he was so close... but because he was a better angler than me and HE was catching them and I was just getting cold from the wind ;D AL
  6. thanks for the replies y'all... I was HONESTLY wanting to know... I got "yelled at" this year for a double hookset during a tournament this year.. and like you I just did it because I didn't feel like i had set the hook very well... you guys are my mentors and the masters so I definatley defer to your judgement... now I have also been told that when you are drop shotting or using an octopus hook that you don't set the hook at all.. you just kind of sweep the rod and apply steady pressure... this I THINK is true... I just got into drop shotting and I hooked a couple of NICE smallies...it seemed that when I would try and cross either eyes I wouldn't boat the fish... but when I just swept the rod to the side quickly and started reeling nice and steady I always had a fish in the boat... thanks for everyone's input... it makes us ALL better anglers AL
  7. tsk tsk tsk... you are so nieve to believe such things... the baitmonkey has you FIRMLY in his grasp... he is just letting you save some money on the GUISE that you are going to buy clothes... just wait till you get a few hundred saved.. .then he will strike and make you buy that dream reel or rod... tsk tsk tsk no clothes for you my friend unless its wet weather gear to be used FOR FISHING AL
  8. I am SO lucky... I am left handed... spinning reels you can switch the handle on no problem... and well I did so I have ALWAYS cranked with my right hand... then when I went to BC it was just a natural transition and no switching hands.. SWEET!!!!! AL
  9. ohhh yeah Senko... it would be a blast to go fishing with you... unfortunately I don't have a boat ... even if I do get one it will only be a jon boat... I won't get a tournament boat till I retire... in THREE YEARS and a HALF hehehehehehe
  10. ball joint isn't TOO bad if you have the right size pickle fork ... just if you decide to do it yourself use the book... and a key thing is COUNT THE THREADS then get it aligned. the manifold will be a bugger if the studs and bolts are all rusted up... the muffler is the same way... but yes... 800 bucks is WAY WAY too much... without actually sitting down and looking up the parts ect I would say anything over 5 is too much and you need to look around... AL
  11. WHEN they put out a 100 I will definately look into how they are... while I am sure they won't be in the same league as say a MG50 or even the Curado but I am sure it will fill a niche very nicely... might even sell a citica 200 to finance the 100 AL
  12. yeah if I can do it ANYONE can... I am in the Army... while "officially" frowned upon... smoking in the Army is almost GI ISSUE then throw in to the mix Iraq... wow.. *shrug* one day at a time... one day at a time ... I will be hurtin for certin if I go back...
  13. yes get the ball joint fixed first.. that is a safety issue... what kind of car is it? it sucks brah, don't ya hate that a cheap car doesn't make for cheap repairs? AL
  14. I like Bassin Magazine myself... I need to subscribe myself... AL
  15. don't hold that against her... I hear some folks don't particularly care for my CIC AL
  16. Thanks for having my back Dan, I don't know why I cant get it to work right AL
  17. wow if I had a penny for every time I ticked someone off... I have NO idea what the issue is about... glad to see everyone is moving on... life is too short to get wrapped around the wheel about something on the internet AL
  18. I hear you there SPEEDBEAD some of these rigs make me gasp too but I quit smoking a year ago.... I bought my MG50 a week before my one year anniversary of quitting smoking... if I was still smoking there is NO WAY I would be able to afford 500 bucks for a rig... its a matter of priorities Yes I have some nice rigs but I didn't buy them all at once... one here and one there... I have been very blessed to be able to compile a collection of equipment over this last year... now I am at a point to where I don't HAVE to get something for a technique.. now its a matter of the baitmonkey whispering in my ear... but having said that... its AWSOME to see what other folks thing their two rigs are or would be... I am pleased to see I am not far off on my decision to get what I have... AL
  19. I have to say mine is cross timber custom rods the lady that builds these things is one class act! http://www.rdlwebs.com/ladyrodbuilder/entry.htm I very rarely "promote" a product but Mary deserves all the cudos she gets.. she puts her money where her mouth is when it comes to supporting troops and I personally can't thank her enough for her generosity to the soldiers... and NO she didn't give me a rod... I have heard where folks had rods stolen and they get with her to REBUILD their collection because her rods are THAT good... AL
  20. sometimes you just have to take one for the team and say "no honey you look nice" and just leave it at that AL
  21. OK I will use what I have : Reel 1: Shimano Chronarch MG50 w/ Hybrid 12# Reel 2: Shimano Sedona w/ Hybrid 8# Rod 1: G Loomis IMX Med Heavy Fast Action 6ft 6 Rod 2: Shimano Compre Med power fast action 6ft 6 for Baits... 1 Berkley Power worm T-rigged 2 Drop Shot with a 4 in finesse worm 3 Gitzit tubes with internal weights either Jig head or actual internal weight 4 Spinner bait 5 a soft body top water frog... ahhhhh crud... now I REALLY want to go fishing! AL
  22. does the van have a roof rack? If so just get a plano plane tube and roll with that and some tie down straps... I have ONE two piece pole a cabela tourney special or something like that... but I don't use it anymore I only use 1 piece poles... and that is how I move them around when I have to go with others... otherwise what I do is lay down my passenger seat all the way back and put my poles in there... I have no problem with 7ft poles that way... if I have one other person and I can't do that then I will lay down my back seat and put the tips between me and the passenger... I don't like doing it that way.. but you do what you have to do sometimes... good luck AL
  23. I don't know many smokers that have smoked for YEARS that say they are GLAD they started smoking... 99.99% of them say they wish they could quit... but they just haven't reached that point to where its like OK ENOUGH!!!! NOT ONE MORE PUFF!!!! there were several factors that pushed me over the edge and made me quit... and whatever works I say! 1 my oldest daughter bugged me constantly to quit 2 wife lost her job and it turned into a financial burden to just buy the things 3 the coughing fits in the morning really sucked and the smokers hang over too! 4 I joined a bass club and I wouldn't want to smoke on a non-smokers boat.. and the cravings really sucked after a few hours hahahahah 5 The bait monkey said if you don't buy smokes at 3.50 a pack you can buy more bait at 3.50 a pack... so it was an easy decision... just quitting wasn't quite as easy...I just had to make my mind up that TODAY WAS THE DAY... I did use a product called "smoke away" that I got at Wally World... not sure if it helped that much... I am sure it did.. .but between my will power and that stuff knocking the "edge" off the cravings... I was able to do it... the first Month was the hardest.. after that it was just "maintenance" but even NOW after a FULL YEAR... I still want one on occasion... like say when a friend has a fire in the fire pit... (live in Wisconsin and you will understand a fire pit)... but then all I say to myself is ... I didn't go a year without smoking to just give it all up for one night of drinking AL
  24. Fish your onto something there I SOOOOOOOO want a spiral wrap rod... I will have one before spring... going to Georgia is a good enough excuse don't you think? AL
