  1. its gotten so bad I can't hardly cast with a spinning reel anymore :'( I use a baitcaster for all my finesse needs AL
  2. Please pray for my family, in a couple of days I am effectively leaving them for 15 months. I have a 14 and 12 year old daughter and my much better half is going to have her hands full being a "single mom". She is going to have to run the house as well and make sure the kids get what they need, put up with me being "over there", all the while working at a new job... They say that being an Army Wife is the hardest job in the Army... and at times like this I have to agree... I really feel for her and what she is going to be going through. AL p.s. I will post as soon as I get set up in Iraq... need my Resource fix you know

    New PB!!!!!

awesome looking bass... congrats to you! AL
  4. Muddy MY MAN... if you lived nearer to GA I would sell you my 95 Cavalier, its got 102,000 on it but it runs GREAT... I would sell it to you for 1,500 and you could make payments to me over the next 15 months with ZERO interest... hey if I can't trust YOU... I can't trust anyone... so I wouldn't hesitate... the only thing it needs as far as I know is a new horn... I blew it out by blowing it and flipping little ole ladies the bird when they were crossing the road too slow with their walker AL
  5. believe it or not I collect redline hotwheels... the ones from 68-76... fishing is CHEAP compared to THAT hobby... in fact I could sell my collection of about 110 cars and finance my new jon boat when I get back... I have several cars that are worth $200+ EACH. I have some really cool accessories too like an ITALIAN box for a track bridge... those things are like hens teeth. I even have some stuff that hasn't ever been opened... AL
  6. Lake Mendota is a weird lake... if I remember right from when I was a kid... it is a man made lake that was used to put water in the old steam engines. Mendota was founded because of the rail road... anyways the lake is oval.. not sure how many acres but not many... I am not sure about structure though... not much I don't think... there are two areas that have "ditches" the north/west end has an interesting area where there is a culvert and I am pretty sure an underwater ditch area... the whole south bank I THINK the lake is deeper, the south west side there is another water "inlet" area and I would think that some fish could be found around there... towards the center of the south bank there is something sticking out of the water... I can't think of what to call it but I would cast around that area too... on the west side there is a "casting dock" that I have pitched around and pulled a small bass or two from under... hope that helps... if you want to ONLY go for the larger fish.. try a 10 in texas rigged worm on a #3 EWG worm... that will weed out a lot of the smaller fish... AL PS... dang now I REALLY WANT SOME ZIGGYS!!!
  7. Is that Lake Mendota? HMMM I would try over by the spill way where the pavillion is on the BACK side along lake drive... not long where Parkway is... but then again I would try all along that side too, I think that is the deepest part of the lake... I haven't ever caught anything bigger than what you caught out there either, I just wanted to stomp the stuffing out of the dang ducks there, but I would go with a trick worm or a texas rigged zoom worm on a #2 EWG with the LIGHTEST weight you can find... But if I were you I would just go to Lake Kakusha? Is that what its named? THE ONE BEHIND the little lake... My nephew caught a sweet 5 pounder out of there years ago... I don't know where to tell you to go anymore. I left Mendota YEARS AND YEARS ago, I graduated from MHS in 84... Everytime I come home I will always go to the lake and wet a hook. Go to Ace Hardware and take a look at their tackle.. they are a BPS "outlet" they don't have much but that is about all you have to pick from... and NO ONE there knows anything about fishing... Maybe you can go to the bait shop over by to viaduct to where the OLD HS used to be... I can't remember the name... and while your at it.... stop at Ziggys and get me a double breaded cheeseburger deluxe... you have NO IDEA how much I am craving one of those.... let me know how it goes... PS I have family that still live in Mendota.
  8. I am sure its not so much her condoning her cussing.. its just I am sure that is was like OMG that is FUNNY I need to tape that!!!!... priceless... all kids say stuff like that... its just this time it was TOO freaking funny!
  9. this little 3 year old knows EXACTLY what to do... talk about some funny stuff! http://www.break.com/index/what_are_you_gonna_do_to_the_monster.html AL

    Military

US Army 90- Desert Storm Germany X2 30+ NTC rotations OIF 1 I am leaving for Iraq in less than 3 weeks... for 15 MONTHS!!!! ain't life grand! *sigh* well I SHOULD retire in a little less than 3 years... AL
  11. don't you just LOVE having a new personal best to talk about! good job... that will keep a smile on your face for quite some time! AL
  12. How the heck can you do that???? In the tank they look pretty identical. (We did Dinger, *** and GYCB) Stopwatch hooked to an actuator that was tied into an IR single beam motion sensor...(stolen Iraqi IED materials), 2 hours of time, 2 weeks of waiting for the packages to get in, and a large fish tank that we bought off of the iraqi market. I had my wife email me the results since I left my fishing book at home. The Tiki stick falls at 1/10th sec faster than a GYCB Senko. Senkos and Kinamis fall at exactly the same rate. *** falls at 1/50th of a second slower than a senko and a Dinger fell at 1/20 of a second slower. Take into account for the human error in drop/stopwatch start button time...and yeah...they fall pretty much at exactly the same rate.... But it makes me feel better to know that there -could- be a difference and I actually use the times for faster/slower descents to choose which ones based on water temp and fish aggressiveness...and how deep I have to let it sink. Stupid huh? Well when I hit 14 months in country I believe I will be just like you and fish in my mind hahahahaha only thing I forget is the fish don't know all these math equations! well done bro! AL
  13. yes and you can get from here to there in this BUT its a WHOLE lot more fun to get from here to there in THIS its all in how you want to get there... AL
  14. hahaha yeah jinx your boat! GOOD ONE!!! hahahahha ;D btw fishing down here ROCKS!!!
  15. looking good! that was a good deal on that boat! Keep us posted on the progress AL
  16. PUNK!!! sure wait a full 90 days AFTER I move to get a nice boat! SHEESH some friend YOU are... ;D hahahaha Seriously Ron is a great guy for an ex-Jarhead. He was my next door neighbor for what almost 3 years? RON is the guy that lit my bass fishing fire again. He and his wife were watching my apartment when I had to go home when my Step-mother passed away and he saw I had some fishing poles in my garage and told me to get back so we could go fishing, and the rest is history, 2 1/2 years and SEVERAL thousand dollars later I sit in one of the best fishing places in the WORLD! I miss Ron and his Family they are one of the few GOOD friends you meet in life and keep forever... Thanks again buddy and congrats on the new Boat... other than ME I couldn't be happier for anyone else getting a ride like that... now you have to plan a vacation down here to put it on some REAL fish as opposed to those Wisconsin runts. Well except the Smallies, I LOVE the smallies! AL
  17. awsome! We will have to go fishing sometime!
  18. need to hit that milestone before the end of May... I want to see my picture in that video before I go wheels up and won't be able to check for about a month or so AL Provider 3T
  19. when I get back from Iraq in 15 months... I don't want a big ole bass boat... all I want is a jon boat and a truck to throw it in the back, the whipped cream on this would be a trailer for the boat hahahaha... my wife promised me it would be sitting in the yard when I finallly come home... so gas isn't going to be an issue for me... well going from a 95 cavalier to a pickup truck will make my gas bill go up a bit... but I can deal with it. AL
  20. good job! AL
  21. happy b-day and here is to many more! AL
  22. no not Metz, too far west , I am going to hit Metz tomorrow after church and brunch... hopefully I can rack up another lunker. AL
  23. my baits are fixing to be left for 15 months in my storage shed... I sincerely hope that they make it... the wife will not be very happy with me if I get home and tell her that I need to go out and buy all new soft plastics... I have become quite the hoarder lately. AL
  24. can't go wrong with red shad anything where I live. the 10 inch culprit in red shad is the ticket right now. AL
  25. I just caught my PB on the MG... I didn't feel like I was going to run out of line at all... she made a few runs and jumped a couple of times just to let me know she wasn't ready to give up and no problems... in fact when I use my Curados and Citicas now they feel "lunky" to me. I would say go for the MG or the Curado 100 you won't be disappointed in either AL
