  1. me and the wife are going camping next weekend for our anniversary...they have two stocked ponds with trout, catfish, and bream. ive only fished for trout when i was little and used rooster tails. what do you guys reccomend for stocked ponds for trout? what kinda gear do i need? id like to def. catch some and grill em!
  2. i went a week after they opened the lake for public use
  3. i havent been to hickory log creek yet i havent found a spot to even fish at...the only spot i seen was the gravel boat area....
  4. I wanna try something new and different. I grew up catching bream and catfish. Over the past few years a fascination with bass has got me busy. I've caught tons of bass and love it but my friend from work went to me lakes i go to and said he caught tons of crappie at a place I didnt think there was too many. I heard they were some good eatin' and I wanna try to go out and get some. The lakes I fish are together. One runs into the other via small dam. I'll take some photos when I do get a chance to go out. What are some good tips for a begginner at crappie fishing. It's summertime here in Georgia full swing. Most air temps are high 80s-low 90s. Rain once or twice a week if that. There isnt much for the crappie to eat that I know of. One lake is over 100 years old. The other is man made. The older lake runs into the man made lake. Theres tons of bass on up to 10lbs. Plenty of big catfish and floded with nice blue gills. I'm not too sure about any shad. I doubt it. What the heck would they eat? Small bream and bass fry? Some kid caught a crappie a while back on a rooster tail but I'd like to see what else I could try in summer for these guys. I heard they were some black crappie. Whatever the difference might be,
  5. most of my rods are 6'6" med-heavy and my favorite is my 7' med-heavy rod since its light and i can throw anything a mile
  6. Most of my setups are baitcasters with 15-20lb p-line fluoroclear on them. I'm using the Academy h2o xpress reel which seems to handle light to heavy lures. Could i get away with flukes on that type of setup or would i have to use the magnum flukes for the weight if using weightless? its in the 80s here in Georgia already so i know the bass are getting active. Whats some good colors to use for these?
  7. if i use cut bream or shad here, the turtles usually grab em. bream are swarming here when it gets closer to being warm but bass eat em on a cork and turtle love em.
  8. my local lakes are full of channel cats, big and small but im trying to prevent bluegill tearing the chicken liver apart. they usually get to it before it hits bottom. im looking for a efficient rig and a good hook type and size too. ive read to keep reading around and keep changing and i catch a few. im just trying to throw some food on the table this weekend. im going in the morning before it rains. its been raining half the week including today and raining all weekend. in the low 60s, some wind. stink bait doesnt work where i fish. livers or nightcrawlers.
  9. bluegill catfish (only if you let them sit in water with salt for hours to pull the blood and/or bad taste out of them) usually channel cats to me are the best smaller bass rainbow trout filets-marinated in italian dressing, then parmesan on top in a 375 degree oven until done mmm!
  10. my local lakes the bluegills eat the liver before it hits bottom sometimes. usually im waiting for a bite for a catfish when the bluegill have gotten me!
  11. i see your in atlanta, what lake is that? im in marietta and need some new spots to fish
  12. spinnerbaits...white with red in them. ive caught monsters all the time there with that and texas rigged green pumkin or black worms.
  13. ive used the rage toad for topwater in summer, the hits and misses are crazy. ( ive had the wrong hook ) but these things just work!
  14. zoom brush hogs have been out for ages, but for me thats the best versatile creature bait ive used. ive caught fish in areas i dont catch fish with this and i only have green pumpkin on hand. tell me whats something new or old you guys wanna try for 2013? i havent quite gotten out yet this year since georgia still is cold and snow comes down then the next day its in the 60s. i dont fish unless the weather stays warm and the fish get active. im only a bank fisher but id like to see how many others are like me that wanna try "new" or old lures this year.
  15. youll know. i always use a trailer hook so i get bite and ths fish is on. when i dont use a trailer hook i get bit and the fish releases usually
