This post is for Vinny and anyone else who would like an uncluttered string answering Vinny's initial inquiry about the Culprit Topwater Shad. I am a topwater and slop fishing freak. I use the Culprit UTS and have caught fish with it. My favorite quality of the bait is that it ALWAYS lands "hooks-up", which is a frustrating malfunction with other frog and rat style baits. The body shape also rarely finds the "v" of a lilly pad (another frustration with other baits). As far as walking the dog, I tend to throw it on braid and it seems to work fine. My advice to you, Vinny, is purchase one (I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time you took a chance on a new bait). Culprit has been around longer than most of us have been fishing, so I doubt they would risk releasing a bait that doesn't live up to their standards. For me, I will continue to fish it in the same areas and same conditions I normally throw a rat or frog and be confident I WILL catch more bass with it, because I won't have to deal with snags and fouled hooks. And NO, I am not a Culprit sales person.
