  1. Things picking up here at Lake Mohawk. I have caught over 25 Bass so far this month. The fish range from a few ounces to a nice fat female (I guess around 4 lbs). The Trout fishing has been pretty good also. ;D
  2. WOW what a bummer. I live in NJ and have a Business trip to Boston on Monday. I was gonna hit BPS Monday evening and hit Cabelas on the way home Tuesday. i must say it seems they have the same problem as the PA stores. I was in Harrisburg PA last week and the rod selection at the BPS was very poor. However, the Cabelas in Hamburg PA was well stocked and picked up a new Quantum reel on sale.
  3. I live in Lake Mohawk and tried a few times still no Bass. Im gonna try again tomorrow hopefully the warm weather will get things cooking. >
  4. Gratz. I am a former Longer islander... Now Live in NW NJ
  5. Gratz.. Nice way to start. I'm still trying tobrekin my new od ;D
  6. Been fishing my whole life. I used to live on Long Island NY for many years and did lots of surf fishing and very little, if any, freshwater fishing. However, I live in Lake Mohawk NJ for the past 6 years and do lots of Bass fishing and Trout fishing. Lake Mohawk is a private lake and is the largest man made lake in NJ. There is a catch and release policy so the large and Smallmouth population is very healthy. If I fish from my Kayak. I can catch 30 Bass easaly in a few hours. If I fish from shore I can catch just as many in my favorite spots. The lake is also loaded with perch, pickerel, crappie, sunfish, and Hybrid Stripers. So far in the 6 years I have lived here I have caught quite a few 4-5 pounders and my best in a 6.5 pounder. There are numerous lakes up in NW NJ that are within 20 miles of home (Aeroflex, Illif, Swartwood, Rykers, etc) that have trout, walleye, etc. 8-)
