  1. I dont know why I have problems with all these rods. These are the first rods I have ever broken while "fishing". I store my rods in pvc tubes and try to take care of them. I only use them for up to 1/2 ounce jigs and smaller down to 1/4 ounce t-rigs and finnesse jigs.
  2. Funny you said that. Yesterday we fished one of our private lakes and were tearin 'em up when my rod broke. Since I was fustrated I made a joke that I was going to just use the old ugly stick that was laying in my buddies small jon boat (small lake with no ramp). Tied on a skitter pop and caught a 7.5lb bass on the first cast. I am just tired of breaking $240 rods everytime I go out fishing. Everyone of them has broken at the next to last guide on the blank. I am a senior in college and tired of investing my hard earned money into stuff that isnt lasting. The Cumaras have to be the most brittle rods I have ever owned.
  3. I am looking hard at the Powell rods. I called BP and they dont seem like the want to give me another exchange/return.
  4. I have broken 4 Shimano Cumaras in the last three weekends. One from swinging small fish in the boat, two from casting and one while fighting a 7lb bass.I love these rods, I am just tired of driving 40 miles after every weekend to take one back to BP. So I am taking another one back to BP tomorrow and going to exchange it for another rod. I was thinking of trying some cheaper rods out to see how they hold up. I already have Crucials and if all else fails I just buy more of those because they are a solid rod. Any ideas on rods in the $100-$150 range?
  5. I like the Cumaras to a point. I have broken three so far from hook sets and figting fish. All of which have been exchanged over the counter at BPS (big plus).
  6. I went yesterday and looked over both and played with them a little bit. The PA is just huge and has ample room for anything you would want to bring. The Outback is more compact and with less storage space. The size and transporting capabilities are what I am concerned about with the PA. The Outback wieghs about half the PA and would be easier to load and unload by myself. Drawback is loosing that extra room, stability, being able to stand, and comfort.
  7. This will be my first. I was mainly looking into the hobie and native brands for the hands free fishing the pedal drive would offer. I fish alot of ponds, lakes, and some creeks/small rivers.
  8. This week I am going to buy either a Hobie Pro Angler or a Hobie Outback. I am leaning more towards the PA bc of the space and stability but the size is making me think the Outback may be the better choice. Anyone have any exp. with either of these and which do yall think is the best choice for a first new small boat/yak?
  9. That would explain why I lost a few fish this afternoon from them throwing the hook more than I was used to.
  10. Yeah Im a moron.I meant action. But what would be the advantages/disadvantages of the exta fast tip opposed to the fast?
  11. I really like the whole setup, for some reason it seems almost the same action as my crucial mh/f just a littler differnet feel. I am just used to fishing my crucials for so long its just a different feeling when I get a bite and set the hook. I will say te rod has a ton of power tp be so light.
  12. This morning I headed to BP to exhange a broken Crucial and somehow ended up walking out of there with a new shimano cumara 7'2" mh/xf paired with a shimano core 100mg. I dont know a whole lot about pairing rods for certain lures but I think I bought the wrong rod for the duties i will be applying it to. I was planning on using this setup for T-rigs and jigs up to 1/2 ounce. I was out in the pond today with a 1/4 bits bug and was trying to get used to the xf tip and was wondering. Would I have been better off for the mh/f? I mostly fish less than 15ft water with moderate to sparse cover. What are yalls suggestions?
