  1. Welcome to BR. Check the facebook page!!!
  2. If you like Abu products, keep an eye on their website. They have really good sales from time to time. I picked up a ProMax combo around Thanksgiving for $50. It's one of their less expensive models (just below Revo) but $50 for a good reel and a MH 7' rod, including shipping is a really good find these days.
  3. I don't know where you are but there's a guy in Wichita. Curt's Trolling motor service. He is also a factory guy and for both MK and Motorguide. I'm sure you can get his # on line from MK or MG.
  4. I've been using them since Academy came to Wichita. They run pretty true right out of the box. I especially like the 3-5' small squarebills they sell. They are usually $3 but I have been able to get a few on sale for $2. Their colors are really good also.
  5. If you have an old putty knife, cut the blade off and sharpen the edges. Hose clamp it to the side of the TM that will cut grass before it gets to the prop. I've tried this and it works pretty well. Nothing's going to work all the time and I'm not sure it will protect against line but for the cost, it's worth the effort.
  6. How old are your batteries?? Could there be a loose wire or a short somewhere? If the mech you took it to is reputable, he should work with you on whatever the problem is, especially if it was something obvious he should have found the first time. Did he give you any idea what it took to get it running in the first place?
  7. That's a nice boat! Mind telling us what the final price was? I got on the thread after you bought it so I didn't get a chance to see the year and size of the motor, either. Thanks
  8. No, but I don't see why it won't work. Be sure you position the lure so the rattles are either front, back, top, or bottom because you obviously won't be able to change them once the glue dries.
  9. If you have a square bill you really like but it has rattles, drill a hole where the rattle chamber is and put some super glue in the chamber. Close the hole with epoxy. It shouldn't rattle.
  10. If you have any grass in that fishery, I'd be throwin a frog in the grass, weeds, cattails, whatever. If no grass I'd be trying to bounce a spinnerbait off some cover somewhere shallow. I heard one of the pros at the delta this past weekend say "bass want to be shallow all the time". Seems to me that's where they are most of the time.
  11. Welcome aboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I usually use white spinnerbaits or small squarebill cranks. There's NO visible cover in the ponds I fish on the GC. Summer time I use buzzbaits with good results.
  14. Welcome. Good place to talk about fishin'.
  15. Never been to McPherson but Butler is a great bass lake. In the spring it's a little tough because of all the shore fishermen on the lake. After the weather has been nice for a while and the guys fishing from the shore realize they'd rather be working on their cars or whatever and the pads get grown in, it will be really good.
  16. I like the Abu Black Max at Walmart for $39.86. (three for $120)
  17. I always bought my Fords at the Apple dealership in Columbia when I lived in Laurel. Living in Ks now, I go to Reedy Ford in Ark City. Love my '12 Taurus!!!!! WELCOME, FORD!!!! You'll love being here.
  18. I'm a member of a small club in SC Ks called "Winfield Bass Club". We would welcome members from BR to join. Boaters and non-boaters are welcome. We are a small club and fish the State fishing lakes in our area. Our tournaments are $20 and are held every other Saturday from April to October. We have our first meeting this Thursday (4/2/15) at Irving school on E. 4th Ave in Winfield and the tournament will be held on Saturday, 4/4/15. Anyone wishing to join would be welcome. Membership is also $20. Al (620-441-8754)
  19. You can buy the H2O baits mentioned above at Academy Outdoors. They are very good baits and seldom cost more than $5. I buy their small squarebills for $3 most of the time. They run good and have really nice paint jobs for an inexpensive lure.
  20. Got it. Used advice from Wayne P. (thanks, Wayne). It works like a champ! The temp works fine, seems to adapt to the water temp after a few minutes. I get about the same reading on the tm xducer and the rear one mounted in the hull. Thanks for all the input guys.
  21. I've never done this before but my bet would be: It would be easier to redesign the front of the boat so the motor attaches the way it was meant to, i.e. deploying off the front of the boat. A guy I know built a stand from the front deck he built and then mounted the motor to the stand so that it would deploy as it was meant to do. Just my 2c worth. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I need some help with placing a skimmer transducer in the bilge of my 1992 Champion 168. It was attached to the back of the transom but I keep breaking it off and would like to affix it to the inside of the hull. I'm thinking of using silicone temporarily to see if it will "see" thru it and give good readings. I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone has to offer. Thanks.
  23. Hi Anthony. I've been to Bone Creek once but haven't had the chance to fish the pits yet. Welcome to the forum.
  24. Great JOB!
