  1. Depends on equipment, bait, and water. It's always some type of copoly or nylon monofilament for me. It's been Seaguar Senshi and PLine C21 for me this year and I'm happy with both.
  2. It's a poor attempt at coming in line with InvizX. They've made some fancy numbers and colors in order to up the propaganda.
  3. I carry everything from 1/16 ball to 5/8 football. The size I fish more than anything is probably 1/4 ounce or 3/32. I reallylike the Picasso Shakedown and Owner Ultra.
  4. I go about it differently, most typically because I have a box dedicated to each brand size. For instance, I have a boxes for my Norman Deep Little N's. Then I have Boxes for my DD14's, then DD22's. Same thing in Strike King, 3XD, 5XD, 6XD, and so on. That's storage. For boat boxes I split them to 2 Strike King boxes, a Lucky Craft box, Rapala, and so on. They're organized by size within boxes.
  5. Enigma= gigantic piece of oversold crap in a pretty silver wrapper.
  6. Couldn't agree more. What longer rods do is allow the fish to have greater leverage against you. There's a very famous rod builder that stated as much in terms of both conventional and fly rods. A short rod will always give the angler more leverage, a long rod gives the fish more leverage against the angler.
  7. Being the braid hater I am, it takes a pretty good line to meet my approval standards. At this point, there are two that have done it, Super8Slick and Kanzen. The two are quite similar in performance and overall feel. The S8S is likely the quieter of the two, but lacks the feel of Kanzen. The coat does wear rather quickly, and it does fade fast; although I don't think it's any faster than PowerPro. Both S8S and Kanzen have superior resistance to abrasion than any other superline, Kanzen has slightly better of the two. S8S is more round, and it does feel like it's a tighter weave than Kanzen. When it's worn in, they're quite evenly matched. I'd be willing to bet that if you fished the two side by side and didn't know from color, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two. Put any other line against either one, however, and the differences are immediately apparent. S8S is a little touchy with knots, as can be Kanzen, I suppose. Tie a Pitzen as terminal and an Alberto as a leader connection, though, and you'll be golden. I'm currently fishing S8S on a spinning rig and a deep jig rod, and the line has performed well, as far as braid goes. It's right up there with Kanzen, and I'd fish either of the two as braid when needed. Just for the added shock effect, I'm going to leave the S8S on the Core for the coming season and fish 3/4 and heavier jigs on it when needed...
  8. Northstar Premier head, Alien to be exact. 1/4 ounce. Trim the forward portion of the skirt even with the head, essentially. Rage Baby or Craw as a trailer.
  9. I'd take the IMX every time. It's lighter and has better components, but not by a lot. I'd call it complete preference, however.
  10. That'll make a great ride for sure. All you Naysayer's saying go big- hushup. The Z8 with a 250HPDI on it is a FAR better ride than the Z9, imo. It's faster, more stable on plane and has better handling characteristics than the Z9. You're losing SO very little by dropping to the 8 versus the 9. That's a grand total of 8 inches. Both are still 96" beam, both have mega storage, The Z8 has a better thrust to weight ratio with a 225 than a Z9 with a 250. My next ride, no doubt about it, is going to be a Z8. I'd like to sell my Triton, but have one more year with it due to "obligations" and that doesn't mean payments.
  11. Well done! PM me with the issues you're having with the charger, I'll help in any way I can.
  12. Depends on the situation. If he's catching dinks and I'm swingin' for a pig I generally pay no attention. If I'm rolling a 3/4 ounce blade and he's catching 4lb fish on a swimbait, I'll fish it until a pattern shows. If my partner is catching fish on a jig and I'm throwing a moving bait, I'll switch to a T-rig or jig. If it's a situation where we're at odds and there's nothing that has really emerged for the bait I'm fishing, I'll have blown it and will be switching because of the confidence issue mentioned already. If I have confidence in the spot, the bait, the conditions- I'll force feed them- admittedly one of my great downfalls as an angler.
  13. That's a tough nut to crack without having pro-staff deals. You might find someone that will give you a flat 10%, on orders over a certain dollar amount, but you're not really gaining much in terms of dollars. I'm sure you don't mean bulk, either. Bulk, typically, means one color of one style by the thousand count, or more. I know that a few of the companies I deal with don't set bulk quantity pricing until you hit a full production run with is 5,000 baits. If you're looking for large quantities to get a deal, you're better off, generally, buying what you find on sale. If you mean genuine bulk, you better option is to inquire about dealer status and purchase at wholesale levels. If you're talking quantities of less than 100 of anything hit the site sponsors or go to your local shops and see what kind of deal they'd make you on the volume your talking about.
  14. The only differences between the two are that the handle and spool on the Chronarch E series are both double anodized. Gear ratios are slightly different in the two as well, but they are, for all intents and purposes, the same reel. If you can find a Curado E series on the cheap, by all means grab one. If you hate the green, get a black and white.
  15. I think they'll quiet down immensely with a clean and proper lube, that which I've not done yet. They're very smooth, actually. Distance casting- initially I was having some issues getting the reel dialed in. When you do get it dialed in, it will cast a 1/4 ounce squarebill like nobodies business. A 1/2 ounce bait will sail on it.
  16. I was told that he was going to be in Altoona, IA. But seriously, I asked someone that really knows what's going on and they've not made those announcements or plans at the store level yet. There's no real way that anyone at the store could know. It is possible, but it is also a possibility that you're getting buffed.
  17. It depends on the rod, the 7ft graphite rod I would think is what you're looking at, not the crank rod. The retail on it is $99 and it's an ok rod for that money. For $30 it's not a bad buy at all, depending on the condition, of course. It would be pretty hard to find a comparable rod for that kind of money.
  18. Bar none, one of the best buys for a deep crank stick is the Mojo Glass. It's a rod I would use only as a deep crank stick, though, it's not an all around crank rod.
  19. I've had one in my hands for a period of three days now. I'm reasonably impressed with it, really. It's a touch noisy, as are most reels in the weight class. There's nothing to insulate the reel, and you feel everything. The gears mesh well, it's got a good drag, and it is very adjustable in terms of casting. I think a lot of people won't like it because it's a little noisy, but again, pick up a Revo MGX and you're going to get the same result for a lot more money. I am mildly concerned with the bearings, but time will tell on that. Once you spool the reel, too, a lot of the feel and noise is eliminated. It's got a pretty funky whine on the cast because of the braking system, no loss of points there, either. The adjustments being external on the brakes is ok, I'd prefer the original DBS, but it still works. I'll give the reel a fair shake, I'm going to fish two of them this year for a while, see how they last and give them some time in the boat. If they pan out, excellent, if not, it's no skin off my back.
  20. Quite a few baits will make the 20ft mark now, even 22. When you're using fluorocarbon line and upsize hooks you add weight to the bait and add dive depth. On long casts, the baits will gain an additional 1-2 feet on the retrieve. I have a pair of 6XD that will hit 23' without fail, LC 3.5XD cranks that will hit the same. It's all about tuning them and making as long a cast as possible.
  21. Toothpicks don't hold as well, and can cause a weak spot in your line. Diamond Pegs eliminate that, they also last indefinitely.
  22. I've been throwing the new Bomber a lot and it will hit 20ft on a long 10lb cast. It's a considerably tighter bait than the other Fat Frees, too. Francho, some thing are sometimes better left unsaid.
  23. The red wacky head has been out for a while, I believe. The Saiko Series hit a snag somewhere, though. I think the Swivel Shot hook got nixxed, too. I haven't heard a definitive answer on whether they will make USDM by spring or not.
  24. Come to the Midwest, it never blows here. Well, never under 15, anyhow. I fish a lot of lakes in east Texas and SW Missouri/N Arkansas that are either relatively protected or aren't used to seeing high winds. I was putting in on Rayburn one time, and getting all sorts of crazy looks, and people in disbelief that I would launch in "these conditions." It was only blowing about 10 with gusts up around 20 or so. It was pure pleasant. The same happens on Table Rock all the time. I'll launch up around Kimberling and run 7 or so miles and people can't believe I'd do it in those waves. I've done it for so long I know how to use it to my advantage. Learn to use it and it will be the best thing for you. Fight it, and you forever will.
  25. Only because you post pictures from time to time. But me? I don't even post pictures, so I'm really not sure why they let me stay. It must be the avatar... Welcome, read, absorb, enjoy and be grateful for what's here. I know I am.
