  1. While reading a post in the Rod-reel section about the Lew's Tournament MB reel it was posted that a site could not be named because it was banned. This is the first I have heard of banned sites. Could someone please direct me to a post that shows the sites that are banned on here? I just never knew we had sites we were not allowed to bring up. Read the rules ad regs again looking for some help and if it was there I missed it. Just would like to have a list of banned sites so I know what is allowed and what is not--Thanks
  2. In regards to this post can someone tell me where I need to look to find these "banned sites"? I read the rules and I see no mention or I missed it on banned sites. any help would be appreciated on this. I was not aware there were banned sites that we were to avoid talking about or bringing up--Thanks
  3. Agree--if the 3 year warranty is a concern stay with St Croix and use their replacement program if you are happy with it. No worries
  4. Yes sir the traffic did make for a much longer ride going north but it was good to get up here to Ohio and be out of the storms path. Kind of looks like the eye will go over our place if it stays on it current projected path. We feel the same as you--we are safe and everything in Florida is insured so we will deal with whatever we have to when we get back
  5. LOL--little cool this AM but we are glad to be here out of the path of Irma---Thanks!!
  6. Agree with BCline--this one made the wife and I nervous also so since we have some family and friends in Ohio that we has been discussing about going up and seeing them this seemed like a perfect time to do that so we put the Doxie dog in the car and left Wednesday morning and drove through to Ohio. Very glad to be up here out of the storms path. We pray for all our friends in Florida that are not leaving please be as safe as you can. hopefully will see you all in a few
  7. Cabela's has the 8:0.1 LEFT hand Super Duty on sale for $99---you will be hard pressed to find a better price fro a new Super Duty. They only have Left hand or I would grab one up at that price---great reel--great frog reel--great price. Better get one while they are there. Code 7TENOFF gets you another 10% off--heck of a deal
  8. So true Catt
  9. Yes copolymer line is great for crank baits--try the IzorlineXXX copolymer line--good stuff
  10. I saw Zona tie this a while back on YouTube and I have been using it quite a bit ---good knot strength and super easy to tie--I like it with my old eyes any thing that is easy to see and tie is great. Very good knot
  11. Nice!! Has to make him feel good!!
  12. I am pretty sure there are no 9-10 foot rods in my future. I have a couple 7'11" X-heavy rods that I use to punch and flip the mats and I think they are the max length that I want to handle. I have several 7'6" heavy that I really would rather use if I can get away with it but that is JMO on the longer rod issue
  13. I just use a 2/0 worm hook for my wacky rigging. In the past I used the finesse wide gap hooks but never really cared for the hook up ratio and the fact on days when I was not very alert the small hook was generally down the throat more than I wanted. I switched to the 2/0 worm hook after watching a video of FLW Pro David Dudley talking about wacky rigging and the fact that these were the hooks he uses to wacky rig so I switched to a worm hook to try and have never looked back. Good hook ups and very rarely do they get them down the throat too far. I find them to be the best for all aspects of wacky rigging
  14. LOL--I do not have to deal with it--Go for it and enjoy!!
  15. To each their own but I never have and never will
  16. + All good info from Mike--your why Not is a great punch bait along with Gambler's Crawdaddy and Cricket. I generally put at least 3 bobber stops on because you will burn them off in a day of fishing this style. A good heavy 7'6" or longer rod and a good higher speed reel with the drag tighten down max and 65 lb braid will get you going great. All of mike's pointers are spot on--I do not use the trokar hook but that is just personal preference, The more you do it the more you will be able to pick out good punch areas in the fields of mats. Also know sometimes you just have to "go get them" because they are really buried. If you keep trying to horse them they will wallow a hole where you have them hooked and you will lose them--just keep pressure on them and go get them and dig them out! Like mike said--favorite way to fish and you will be tired after a day of it but for me also it is my favorite way to fish. Just go do it and enjoy and know after you hook a couple of them in the mats you will be like a lot of the rest of us and consider it the best way to fish for bass!
  17. I believe if I hooked myself 10 times a YEAR I would find a better way to handle fish or take up a different hobby!! WOW!! I know for certain I do not want to build anything with you!!
  18. I am in agreement with Mike--Mann's Jelly worm in Motor oil or Blackberry. In a ribbontail I use an Ol Monster in Black or Plum. Also throw the Mann's 8" Augertail in Black or Tequila Green and have good results
  19. has been 15% in the past 4th of July sales
  20. I said it in a previous thread about KVD line conditioner and I will repeat it here. I use it on my Power Pro braid and I find it to make the line smoother and cast farther. Understand some have a different opinion on it. Everyone is certainly entitled to that. I run pretty much all braid with fluorocarbon leaders and have been using KVD on all my braided reels for years and I have never had any breakoffs that I could say was caused by the conditioner. Been good to me
  21. well he was not a famous bass fisherman but I sure would love to spend a day with Dad fishing again. He was the first to take me fishing and we made some pretty good memories that I sure cherish. Dad has been gone 17 years now and there is not a day that goes by that I do not miss him. If you still have your Dad with you and he likes to fish do not miss the opportunity to make some memories with him. You will be grateful someday that you did.
  22. I have found that by spraying my braid with conditioner--KVD or Reel magic increases my distance in casts. I have proven it to myself several times over the years. My outfits are probably 98% braid with FC leaders of different lengths. JMO but for me it works and helps improve distance in my casts. My point is if it helps relax and make FC better casting why would it not also make braid easier to cast and flow better? Try it for yourself and see if it does or not before completely dismissing it. Also I have used KVD and reel magic on braid for years and have never noticed it fading any faster than normal. I do keep a black sharpie handy to counter the fading on it however but I can not contribute the fading to conditioner-hey maybe partly now that I read OP post about fading but I have found most braid does not need much help in the fade department anyway Yes It can be
  23. Agree with this--I just use the hook that I use for wacky fishing also. Do not myself see the need for a "special" hook to fish basically the same rig that I have been fishing for years. I do understand it is about sales but I just do not see the need
  24. Agree with ROLO--been using the uni for a long time and find it easy to tie and I have never lost a fish that I could blame on the knot
