  1. what hook should I use? I wnat something small enough to hide it but not so light that it'll straighten out when I hook up on a big whooper
  2. Ok so we have fish feeders out at our lake for our Bluegill and Hybrid Striped Bass. But the carp are hammering the feed because we have no grass (thanks to our great lake management team). So I want to make a brown pellet looking fly/lure to cast to these fish to have some fun in the hot summer sun. Be fun for some clients that have never fished before to hook into a 20+lb carp ;D I was thinking about getting a straight shank hook and tying some brown mariobou on it and seeing if that will do. I need the hook to be small enough to make the maribou float so it looks like a actual fish pellet. What hook would you recommend using? Any other ideas? Suggestions?
  3. looks great man! I would cast it!
  4. well we caught fish on the structure/brush we put out in 24hours. We catch fish on the stuff we put out within a couple days. May have been certain situations that made you have bad luck donno
  5. I'd throw it
  6. well that stuff looks great! I wouldn't mind doing that eventually, I have a ton of torn up plastics
  7. hmmm interesting 8-)
  8. I just picked up a pack of these tonight can't wait to use them ;D
  9. I love this reel so far, and for $70 you can't beat that. I do notice it is a good bit wider than the Revo S though but not enough for me to worry about it. I've caught all kinds of bass on it on several different rigs. I would recommend this reel to anyone 8-)
  10. Man that's awesome, where are you getting all of your supplies from?
  11. I've been doing this a couple years now, I know what I'm doing I work for a lake management company. But I hear what you are saying I am just taking orders ;D
  12. I like the Owner Mosquito 2/0 Hooks personally http://www.***.com/Owner_Mosquito_Hooks/descpage-OMOS.html
  13. I hear where you are coming from OP. I like to try everything and figure out why they like this over that etc... But like said above I would use the senko first to find the fish and critique your presenstation on your finesse stuff. I have torn up the LMBs on stick baits this year. They love that sexy wiggle ;D
  14. What do I need to look for in a jig?: Football head jigs really excel in rocky structure environments, Bullet head casting in grassy structure and arky style in heavy structure. These are not "set in stone" but a good base to start with. I personally don't mind using an arky head fan casting in grass or hopping one on rocks. What Colors when?: Black and blue is a good all around color to start with and in all conditions. My go to is watermellon candy/black. If the water is really clear I switch to smoke or bluegill colors and black with chartrueuce in murky water. What to do once it hits bottom? (I have seen in videos that 7/10 times the bites are on the fall): Loaded question. All I can say is experiment. Sometimes a lift drop retrieve and then fine tune the tempo. In colder water S L O W and I would drag instead of hopping. Sometimes you could swim it like a slow-rolled spinnerbait. What weight for what situations?: Just enough so that you can still feel bottom contact. If flipping and pitching, heavy enough to penetrate the cover. All above is based on my experience and is MHO. The articles on this site are exceptional and very useful. I actually found this site while doing a search on this very topic. I also found a good source of info on Denny Brauer's site: www.brauerbass.com. He has a lot of articles for all types of situations on this topic. Hope this helps. Ok thanks man! I'll use this tips and start throwing these with more confidence
  15. Funny you say this doesn't work that well for topwater, I was flipping/pitching around one of the docks here at work. I made a bad cast and reeled it in really quick to make a better cast and it was ripping across the top of the water and this nice 4lb bass came shooting out of the docka and annihilated it !!!!!
  16. AWESOME BAIT! I got it in the Bama Bug Color: Absolutely love this bait, I need to get some more and get one of everything in the Ragetail line. I was fishing with some clients and we couldn't get them to bite anything. So I decided to tie on a Smokin Rooster T-Rigged with a 1/8oz sinker. Hit it on the second cast:D
  17. Gamakatsu Skip Gap Shaky Heads Planning on trying some of the MegaStrike shaky heads next
  18. if I am only fishing in 8-10ft of water should I still be fishing 1/2oz? I am fishing a lot of man made structure in open water and not a lot of timber. But I am in the process of dropping bundles of structure this week
  19. Thanks RW! Great Info exactly what i'm looking for, I don't know why it didn't come up in my search
  20. I have always been a worm t-rig fisherman my whole life, I have always been really successful fishing that technique too. But now I have been getting into more cranking, and spinnerbaits etc... over the last few years. I have read tons of posts on here about guys doing well on jigs. I have no earthly idea how to fish a jig. I have done a lot of reading on whats good trailers and what to throw to cover. But what do I really need to know about jig fishing. What do I need to look for in a jig? What Colors when? What to do once it hits bottom? (I have seen in videos that 7/10 times the bites are on the fall) What weight for what situations? Thanks Guys, I been using a pro model jig by SK and had a few hits but not much.
  21. i am interested in this as well??? I have heard good things
