  1. That stretch has gotten consistantly better over the yrs since closing the ramp at Germana. Leaving your only option to haul up over the bridge and down the bank or if your lucky enough to know some1 with river prop in the neighborhood across the steet. Me and two buddies are floating from the 522bridge down to Germana about 13miles tmrw hoping it wont be a bad day even tho the river has come up about 6-8 inches in the last few days
  2. i live withing 10-20 minutes from any of the mentioned points. I wade these river atleast twice a week on average an try to take a float trip every other week if not more. I spend 90% of my time on the Rapidan since it is much less pressured than the Rappahanock. I prefer lower water i dont mind dragging a little an it makes the fish stack up in the deeper holes making them easier to find normally around 1.6ft-1ft at the culpepper gauge for the Rapidan As for you putting in at Motts Run and taking out in the downtown area. From about a mile up river of the 95bridge to about a mile below is excellent fishing The point of me posting this thread was more to find other to fish with not so much gettin info on the rivers
  3. Really no one on any of this water? Ive seen some many people avatars say Va under them i figured someone had to be in this area
  4. what brand 5in twisters do you recommend? i can only find a few brands that carry them in that size Gary yamamotto and Kailin
  5. for some reason every swimbait i buy from storm ends up swimming funny on its side no matter how i tie them on
  6. Good eye! It is indeed an avid. Wading is fun, and besides I don't have a boat on the river! We often fish from my buddy's canoes or kayaks, but frequently hop out to wade particular spots. In the spring, sometimes wading is the safer option, and we just paddle down stream from spot to spot. In the summer, when the fish are in the riffles and chutes, it's pretty much the only way to get to them. agreed ive caught some monsters while wading, as long as your wading and fishing upstream so that the dirt and mud you kick up doesnt disturb the water your throwin into i dont see what it matters much
  7. any1 fish either of these rivers? mainly the Rapidan from Culpepper to Fredericksburg and Rappahanock from Remington to Fredericksburg or the James River in Scottsville?
  8. Why wait? Got open water? Then fish! Tubes, hard jerks, drop shot. Something will bite. hmm i dont know,, my only options are wading and 8 a mile float trip is the shortest distance trip i have access to
  9. heddon tiny torpedo skitter pops zoom 4in lizard normally match color to river bottum
  10. what water temps do you wait for? we normally dont get fishing here till mid march early april when the river get up in the 50's
  11. i never have much luck with senkos i like to use zoom 4in lizards with gamagatch(sp) skip gap hooks
  12. I'm working at Snowshoe mtn currently and thinking about staying through the summer. Smallmouth fishing is my main summer hobbie im in search for some good floattrips in the area I bet you have been getting some serious snow there. There is a pretty good float from Narrows, VA to the WV State line. Some shorter floats in Beaver. Just depends on how long you wanna fish or be on the water. Snowshoe is pretty close to alot of good fishing on the New. Whats the greenbrier like from Cass down to Marlinton (atleast i think its the greenbrier that goes through Cass) I'm use to fishing river like the Rapidan and Rappahanock in Central Va around the Fredericksburg/Culpepper area
