  1. I still have an Ambassadeur 5000(1965) and a 2500c that I still use on a old crossfire rod.
  2. ABU Ambassadeur 5000 that I got it as a gift in 1965. 47 years and still goin strong!
  3. Hard to name a favorite, although top water hit is hard to beat.Just love catchin' smallies!
  4. There is a site that deals mainly in modified aluminum boats. A lot of pictures of what guys have done to there boats. http://http://www.tinboats.net/forum/index.php
  5. The Great Lakes (spotted muskie)is common around the great lakes basin. The Clear or Barred muskie is common to Minnesota,Wisconsin, and Canada. The Tiger Musky is a cross between a northern and a muskie. Learning about muskie fishing is a process.I would suggest going to muskyhunter.com
  6. To be on the safe side, give them a call.
  7. The Bass fishing in northern wisconsin has been getting better every year thanks to the catch & release part of the season. One of the only things the DNR has done right! You're right, muskie and walleye are still the big thing and that's fine with me.
  8. Check your state for minnow traping regulations. Here in Wisconsin, they have strict regulations on minnows to keep from spreading disease and accidentally introducing unwanted species. Other than that, live bait can be deadly in early spring. Good luck, tight lines!
  9. A lot of older lures are not as rare as you think. You can find many "vintage" lures on eBay. I have found that old lures,in their original box or packaging, are the ones collectors look for.
  10. These are underwater cameras on the Wolf River here in Wisconsin. Some suckers are starting to show up along with an occasional walleye. Thought some of you might be interested. http://www.livefishcamera.com/
  11. Site looks great! Thanks to everyone for their hard work in making this possible.
  12. I grew up in northern wisconsin where walleye and SM were the prominent fish in most of the lakes. LM's are making a big comeback because of the catch & release part of the season. I fish both, but smalies are still #1.
  13. I agree. With all the choices we have, exspecially one-piece rods, it comes down to your own preferance. I still use an older 6'6" for topwater, but most of my newer rods are 7' or better.
  14. I would proceed with caution. It's hard to say without looking at the boat. I've done mods in the past and have learned it can get more complicated than you antisapated. You should also think about resale value if you would ever wanted to sell and up-grade.
  15. Still over a foot of snow here, and over 2' of ice on the lakes... was 7 degrees this morning when I went out to the shop at 5am... its getting old quick! Last year at this time we had no snow and open water on some lakes Must be that Global warming stuff... Must be time to go groundhog hunting! Yes, winter is getting old. We had 4 degrees this morning, still have snow, and the lakes here are also still frozen. Suppose to start warming tomorrow. It better, or the groundhogs' days are numbered!! ;D
  16. Delicious!!!
  17. I have a Ambassadeur 2500 and it's one of my favorites. I got mine as a combo with a light action pistol grip rod. Still have that rod around somewhere. Don't know why they quit making them, but you can still find them on eBay.

    Lazy Ikes

I still have a wooden Lazy Ike and it still catches fish. There was a time when any tackle box you looked in had a couple. The new ones are plastic and never bothered to get one.
  19. Whether we buy Quantum,Shimano, etc, we all know we are paying something for the name. It shouldn't matter if you pay $50 or $250 for a reel. You exspect quality because of the name behind the product. You also want them to stand behind their product. They should never forget the power of "word of mouth" advertising. It can hurt them for a long time.
  20. It sounds like a Jon boat was not your 1st choice. If that's the case, you will regret it later. I would suggest looking on Craigslist and see what's available in a used boat. You might be surprised. Start a financial plan now and the boat of your dreams will be there in the future.
  21. $4500, but it comes with English manual.
  22. Thanks NBR, You took me back to my 1st casting reel. I had a Pfluger on a steel rod. Can still picture the handles spinning. NBR is right on. Learn the settings on your reel, and practice...practice...practice!!!
  23. 1st plastic worm I ever used. Grape is my all time favorite.
  24. I bought 4 Quantums from the same seller with no problem. I bought one for my son that broke 1st time fishing. The seller paid to have it shipped back and replaced with better reel.
