  1. A-Jay- Nice fish! I think that picture still shows what a toad it is!
  2. Nice smallie! I'm still waiting for my first on my Mattlures BB!
  3. My wife saw some on clearance @ BPS for $1.99, so I bought her a package. I'll do anything to get her to go fishing more She hasn't thrown them yet, but I'll post a report when she does.
  4. What ever happened to him? He was a big help around here. I'm not sure why he doesn't post here anymore......I've seen him around a few other places. I love his little teardrop finesse cranks.....those things always seem to get bit - - way fun to fish! I know I'm not the only one wondering this... Where can we order some????
  5. This article has some good details on rigging/fishing it.
  6. Thanksgiving presents? The bait monkey knows no season!
  7. Go to Dick's Sporting Goods (there's one in Gaithersburg, MD), where they sell both of them, and use the below coupon. (I actually think Dicks only has the Sammys up to the 100 or 110 size, but they do carry the Magic Swimmers too!) $10 off $25 Purchase (Opens a .pdf file) A "deal" website, Slickdeals, shows this coupon. Download and print in color. Saves you $10 off of a $25 purchase.
  8. The bait monkey requests that you post details about which ones you ordered!
  9. Just be sure to take pictures of the fish you catch!
  10. 1-2 if I'm lucky. Most weeks I don't :-/
  11. I'll cast it out, let it sit for 15-20 seconds and then bring it back slow & steady.
  12. Great picture, shows how incredible the details on Matt's baits really are!
  13. Don 't ask .... if you think you have a problem don 't ask me about it, I blew my last functional brain cell the day I purchased my first Megabass lure, strangely, now a 15 dollars bait doesn 't look THAT "expensive" . Don't even start to look at swimbaits, even the $25 ones seem "cheap" now. Too true! My wife always says that she wishes I had cheaper hobbies!
  14. Buy yourself a scale and a camera!
  15. The two spinnerbaits that I posted have rattles as well. I haven't used the Booyah Moon Talker, but the Strike King Midnight Special/Premier is killer! Nearly everyone you ask will recommend the Jitterbug. There's a reason for that! IT WORKS! Plus it's one of the more fun lures to fish. If you want to try something else, you could also throw a wakebait like the Jackall Mikey or the River2Sea V-Joint Wake. As a general rule, with all of the lures that I mentioned in this post and my previous one, a slow, steady retrieve is best at night.
  16. Nighttime: Strike King Midnight Premier or Midnight Special Spinnerbait or Booyah Moon Talker Spinnerbait Arbogast Jitterbug When it comes to the color, I prefer any color as long as it's black! I prefer to use the Black Jointed Jitterbug in the 5/8" size, but if if I were you, I might try the Muskie Size Jitterbug. Bass Pro carries it, but it isn't on their website.
  17. Certain Walmarts nationwide are trying a test program where they are not carrying any fishing merchandise during the winter. It should be back in the spring.
  18. In stock here: Tackle Warehouse and also at
  19. A lot of people use spawn sacks, but you can throw rapalas and spoons cross-current to get the biters. DON'T SNAG! Snaggers make me sick.
  20. Agreed, if you have high end stuff, it's (sadly) probably safer to ship it than to check it. USPS has flat rate boxes that ship via priority mail, they're decently fast. You can insure it too.
  21. $35ish for a couple of various swimbaits...
  22. So cotton > polyester? Not if it gets wet!
  23. Fat ika and inline spinners are hot in my area... I've heard of some big catches on the rapala skitter prop too... Good luck!
  24. How were you fishing it? Just a steady retrieve? I'm hoping to pick one up sometime soon!
