  1. Cabela's has the Pfluger Purist reels for $39.99, 50% off regular price: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Pflueger-Purist-Spinning-Reel/1400727.uts
  2. It's now $749 direct from Garmin. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-water/fishfindergpscombos/echomap-chirp-73sv/prod529885.html
  3. A Native Slayer Propel (or Slayer Propel LT) will be my next kayak. Can't beat Native's pedal drive system IMO. Instant reverse and unbeatable customer service in my experience. I love my current Native Ultimate FX Tandem, but a pedal drive yak will open up some more trolling possibilities for me.
  4. I got two in a lot this winter, but bass season isn't open yet, so I can't comment on the action. Just looking at them in hand, I'm glad I didn't pay near retail for them.
  5. +1 The hard stuff is a lot more fun to throw and is more toothy-critter-resistant IMO. OP- I live near Milwaukee and have caught some surprisingly small bass on big swimbaits; don't be afraid to buy a larger bait and throw it, even if your local anglers think your bait is ridiculous... I'm a big fan of the Mattlures Hard Gills if you can afford one. Mattlures also has a bait called the Jitterfish that has been good for me and it's only $20ish. If you get a chance, definitely buy one of the 3:16 baby wakes or wake jrs....The Mattlures Hard Gill and the Baby Wake have been my most productive swimbaits FWIW. Just watch out, before you know it, you'll have several hundred $$'s worth of swimbaits; they're addictive!
  6. I'll swim for an expensive swimbait, but that's about it :-p I'm not above looking for lures to adopt though
  7. Mattlures Hard gill is my favorite, but the Baby Wake is nice also. The hard gill is just so much fun to fish; it looks alive! Check ***, baitbarn, etc for the hard gills and you'll be able to find what you want
  8. Summer EDC: S&W 442 pro (cut for moonclips! ) Winter EDC: Taurus 740 slim or Sig P245 depending on mood/day
  9. I took last year off of fishing (blasphemous, I know) due to a new baby and a new job. I got back into things slowly but surely late this spring and over my 4th of July vacation; caught a few dinks, nothing of substance. I snuck away tonight to fish a local pond for an hour or so. I was determined to use only swimbaits and see what I could pull up. I recently picked up a Mattlures Hard Gill that I fished hard on my vacation, but was 0 for 1 with a big blow-up strike that missed. Tonight I stuck a little 1lb'r on the hard gill (no pic). After 1/2 hour of the hard gill, I decided to throw the 3:16 Baby Wake. I lucked out and picked one up a few years ago for a song, but hadn't really fished it yet. I fished the weedbeds and points that I could see around the pond and stuck this healthy 2-12 LMB: All in all, a great night fishing. Now I just need more time to throw those swimbaits! (And more money to buy more!)
  10. They got me too! I picked up a Mattlures U2 Gill, Mattlures floating Hard Gill and a Mini MS Slammer
  11. Yup- Shallow mucky areas with lilly pads in the spring
  12. Agreed! Catch and release can help a fishery, but it can definitely also hurt it. Selective harvesting is often the best choice...
  13. http://www.bassfishingtv.com/ Tons of great videos!
  14. Off topic: Catching and keeping is not evil! Nothing wrong with eating/enjoying the fruits of your labor. Now I don't keep most bass I catch and definitely release large fish, but there's nothing wrong with it... On topic: I am glad that I don't have very many snakes to worry about up here in WI!
  15. The big bites I budget for. The little bites are the $10-$20 purchases that pop up 30+ times a year, they add up! Oh- and I can't resist buying $50 worth from Tackle Warehouse almost every time I get an email with a 10% off code in it...
  16. Agreed.
  17. OK I won't ask Y but I sure want to know why. Because it's him!! Or he does it in FL!
  18. I stopped by today and they still had quite a selection. I didn't pick any of them up, I think that for right now, I've satisfied my LC Bait Monkey!
  19. Yup- They've had those prices for about a month now... I've been picking up a couple of LC baits every time I'm in the area.
  20. How are you fishing this rig? Just slowly jigging it?
  21. Broken Windows Theory, eh? I agree with ya.
  22. LBH- What happened to the video? Pics look good!
  23. Same here. Cabelas in Richfield, WI still had a bunch of packs in the Bargain Cave for $0.88 each last time I was there (a couple of weeks ago). If you're interested, I might be able to stop by there sometime this week and pick up some packs.
  24. Very nice finish!
