  1. Black/blue flk, watermelon/red flk, grn pumpkin, etc. Just like anywhere else. Pretty good topwater bite right now as well... good luck!
  2. Spinning or baitcaster? Not insanely priced leaves a lot of options for you. If you're looking for a sub-$100 combo, then you would probably be pleased with a Berkely Shock rod combined with a Shimano Sonora, especially if you're a Giants fan. If you can afford the extra $20, then a Sahara would be a good choice. I use that set up as a loaner rod and my backseaters always praise it. Now if you want a baitcaster, you'll have to step the quality up for something like a Clarus and a Curado, Citica, or Pro Qualifier based on your budget. Anything 6'6" to 7' and "medium" should fit your needs as an all purpose rod. Here's some links for you. **I spent a couple minutes linking the rods/reels from Tackle Warehouse but their links are apparently no longer allowed on here. Anyhow, pretty easy to find these rods/reels online. Good luck!
  3. BB- Not familiar with this technique, can you elaborate?
  4. She's probably wanting to spend all the time she can with you now before you take off. No cell coverage on the lakes I usually fish, so maybe I'm just lucky???
  5. The PQ would be a great first BC for you. Almost have to try to get a backlash with that puppy.
  6. You're going to love it. I picked up a different model number on sale as well and couldn't be happier with its performance.
  7. Wow, those were a couple PIGS! I've caught some smallies out of that same lake, but they looked like bait compared to yours.
  8. Hank Parker said that can happen, so I'll take his word for it.
  9. Have to agree that the turtles are good for a pond.
  10. Wow, first you guys take one of our earthquakes and now you're going to get pounded by part of a hurricane??? Hopefully the West Coast doesn't get a carbon copy. Best of luck fellas- stay safe.
  11. I assumed that they included the scent with the plastic when it was formed, but maybe they just soak the new plastics in a scent bath while they're still warm? Hopefully someone that actually knows chimes in.
  12. Also a fan of the LTB70MF. Be careful what you're getting yourself into with these higher level rods. They're addicting.
  13. x3 on weightless white. It's awesome seeing it dart and then disappear.
  14. Nice thread start! I have to admit they look sweet, but I've finally worked my way up to a GLX and cannot start going backwards down the line. I can only imagine if they revamp the other better performing series over the next couple years... the bait monkey will be knockin.
  15. My 403b portfolio looks like a terrifying roller coaster ride.
  16. Wow, sort of like a black and white cookie... seems sort of crazy but then it ends up being perfect. Hopefully it performs well for you.
  17. Wacky Senko... catches more "legal" fish for me than anything else. Drop shotting KVD's finesse worms puts a ton of fish in the boat, but the dinks love 'em as well.
  18. Wow, we have them 18+ lbs where I fish, but it's more like 1 out of very 50 I catch is > 4 lbs.
  19. I use 12# Invizx and have been happy with it. However, it has a bit more stretch to it so you may want to consider Trilene.
  20. I went from optimistic for the Sox for a title run to mildly concerned in April back to fairly confident in a title run if they can get their pitchers healthy. With that lineup they're never really out of a game, so I can't wait until October.
  21. From a purest's standpoint I definitely hear you. However, the sport has been dirty for decades (SMU) and countless programs and boosters are finding ways to bend or break the rules without getting caught (except for Miami and OSU). I love college sports and can fortunately still enjoy it for what it is... a pseudo professional sport.
  22. Nice!
  23. If you were staying in the $600 range, then I would have recommended an NRX and Curado. With the (smart) rebudget, the Dobyns/Curado combo will be great for you. I have a DX743 teamed up with a Curado and absolutely love it. Hopefully whatever you're planning to get is in stock and on sale during TW's Labor Day sale.
  24. I'd love to say that the SEC run is over, but Alabama looks like they're going to be awesome again and you never know if Spurrier finally has a potential championship team. However, it's OU's title to lose. BOOMER SOONER!!!
