  1. Yes. If you're even considering spending $300 on a rod it's a definite yes. Enjoy!
  2. I was surprised to not see him on this weekend too. They still have him listed as one of their anglers on the MLF site, so maybe he just had a commitment or something and couldn't make it. Hopefully he makes it for the second 2016 tourney of theirs... still enjoy the show quite a bit but it's not the same without him.
  3. Yeah, bikini pics from the porch... not weird at all.
  4. Wow, just terrible. It seems like it would be natural for anyone that drives a car to just stay to the right in these situations, but that's obviously not the case. Hopefully this at least raises some awareness and decreases the likelihood of it happening again.
  5. First time I skipped it since the Manteca store opened... just not anything exciting enough for the 3 hour round trip. As others have stated, my two biggest issues are the majority of sale items being house brand and non-house brands often being listed above retail pricing (to in turn sell more of the house brand),
  6. That is awesome... gotta love all the records going down these past few years!
  7. Excellent video. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Should be out in a couple weeks but I imagine that first batch is going to sell out in a hurry (TW already has a pretty good sized waiting list). If they were available during the BPS trade in I would have picked one up for sure.
  9. Made up according to Snopes thank goodness. As soon as it said they bit off his fingers I was thinking no frigging way with him still alive... their teeth are not going to be going through 10 digits and if they're meth-heads they're probably missing most of their teeth anyway!
  10. Wow, that is ridiculous. It would be one thing if the town was down on physicians or other professions that have to "come to them" but it's something else entirely when they get to choose and train their own. Hopefully they get things figured out in a hurry or what is left of their best of the best will burnout and leave for more stable departments in the surrounding communities.
  11. This has been an amazing experience for me with my daughters. I first started taking them out for short 2-3 hour trips when they were 4-5 years old basically acting as their guide teaching them how and where to cast and making sure their 4" worm or grub was always in working order. We'd always finish the mini-trip by beaching the boat for a little picnic and swim time. Fast forward a few years and now they actually ask me when we can go out again and are pretty close to independent out there. If the bite is off and they look like they're starting to get a little bored I encourage them to go for a swim off the back of the boat on the lake side (so I can keep fishing), and they come back refreshed and ready for more. Making the investment in teaching them how to fish in a fun lighthearted way has been one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done. If you have the patience to make it about the kids you'll never regret it.
  12. +1 on the IKA and there's some really good information here from Road Warrior and others if you search the topic. The cover craw does seem a bit expensive at $1 per, but I have a feeling they'll be selling a lot more of them after Mercer's show. If nothing else you can just stock up on them during the 15-20% off sales to lessen the blow a bit.
  13. I was fishing a smaller local lake around July 4th a few years ago with my dad... slow day and I was mindlessly throwing a wacky rigged Senko around and between docks in anticipation of leaving real soon. The storied cast was just a few feet off the bank away from any significant structure or cover, and about 5 seconds into the fall my line shot off to the right towards the nearest dock. I was in a moment of disbelief and did a pansyish reel/sweep hookset figuring this was big and I only had 6# fluoro. After 2-3 minutes of putting pressure on her I was finally able to get her head turned and headed to the boat. As she was slowly coming towards the boat I told my dad to get the net because this had a chance to be the fish of a lifetime assuming it's a bass, and then she appeared like a submarine hovering in place just a couple inches under the water and 3-4 ft from the front of the boat. My heart about jumped out of my chest when I saw she was well into DD size, and right as I looked back to check on the status of the net she lifted her head out of the water with a violent headshake and out shot my Senko. She literally stayed in that same subsurface position for at least a few seconds that seemed more like an eternity, and although I didn't hear anything I'm pretty sure she was laughing at me. Even though I can't count it, it was my favorite bass "fight" I've ever had and serves as a constant reminder your PB is always just a cast away even on a slow day.
  14. Bro, seriously no pic? That's the party foul of all party fouls. I'm calling anteater.
  15. Awesome news and congrats!
  16. Usually not needed due to all the fun banter, but if I'm out with just me and the dog I like to have some sports talk radio on.
  17. Tough to beat the Jackall Crosstail Shad, SK Dream Shots, and Roboworms,
  18. You guys are making me hungry! Ours will be combined with my daughter's birthday party... tri tip, maybe a brisket if I decide to get up real early, wings, grilled prawns, and lots of chips/dips and other appetizers. I'm booking on gaining a pound or two...
  19. Just remember to say you only buy things when they're on sale...
  20. That's crazy... hopefully Shimano is not off the reel/rod list this year like they used to be!
  21. Same here... looks like Photobucket is down if that's where your pics are hosted.
  22. Wow, that's terrible. Best of luck getting that roof back up with a little stronger snow load this time around... might have to make my next order through them to "help" out.
  23. I have a couple of each and have to say my favorite is the green NRX with a Curado e7... I smile every time I get to fish with that combo.
  24. Usually only when salmon or steelhead fishing as a trigger for the other guy to reel in and get the net. Could also be used sarcastically during a very very very slow day.
  25. Hmmm... I can't imagine why that one would draw your repeat attention. As another plus, she's apparently a fan of LTB!
