  1. Before I became obsessed with bass fishing I spent a lot of time flyfishing for trout in our small high country streams. This summer I'll be dusting off that gear and spending more time in the backcountry.
  2. You can literally throw anything within the rods' ratings with 3000 sized spinning reels. Line test/diameter will also play a big role (e.g., 4-6# test for finesse baits and 8-10# test for larger baits like a spinnerbait).
  3. Another really good option is a St Croix 7'4" Heavy. The Victory, Mojo, and Bass-x are all well within your budget and you can probably find them on sale if any Classic sales popup this weekend.
  4. I've been really happy with the 843 for 1/4-1/2oz spinnerbaits. I like a little longer rod to launch casts away from the boat, so I moved the 843 to kayak duty and picked up a 903 for the boat (essentially the same rod but 6" longer). Couldn't be happier with the MBR tapers.
  5. That's one heck of a haul right there. Best of luck to everyone!
  6. I have the pdl version of your kayak and have been contemplating adding ffs. I'm looking forward to your future reports on how it's working out for you... best of luck getting the system dialed in!
  7. With the Classic coming up and TacticalBassin doing 8 straight days of a spring buyer's guide, I'm really curious if Tackle Warehouse will surprise us with a Classic sale like the good 'ol days.
  8. Megabass sv-3 is tough to beat out here in the clear water reservoirs I usually fish, and I imagine the Stanley would be great on the Delta and Clear Lake with the lower visibility.
  9. Lucky Craft LV500 through the winter and pre-spawn. Close second is the Jackall TN 50/60/70.
  10. Welcome to the boards and congrats on the new reel! 10# braid is very light for a baitcaster and carries a lot of risk for digging in since it's so thin. I'd also recommend 30# braid with an 8-10# mono/fluoro leader of your liking for those baits.
  11. Welcome to the boards and congrats on the PB! Did you buy any chance get a length measurement on her? With that girth and temp there's a good chance she's not too far from spawning. My guestimate is around 6lbs.
  12. Always been intrigued by DC reels and the release of the Met 70 at jdm rates was just too good for me to pass up. I'll be using it primarily for spinner baits when the wind picks up, so of course I had to add some more sv-3's. I'm curious how these Geecrack finesse swimbaits will do compared to Keitechs and largos.
  13. Been having some nice early spring weather and had to take a day off work to test the waters. Haven't moved up yet, but we still crossed paths with quite a few. They've all been eating well... can't wait to hopefully cross paths with some plus sized girls the next few weeks.
  14. Mixed it up a bit for St Patty's this year. Smoked the corned beef and made a Reuben pizza for dinner. Gotta say it was pretty darn good.
  15. Might have celebrated with a couple of these. 😎
  16. They had a crazy run this week and knocked off someone who was certain to make the tourney at the start of the day. Be neat to see them stay hot for another week or two.
  17. The spots out my way absolutely crush the 2.8 but will also hit the "skinnier" 3 inch baits like the regular impact or easy shiner. I just have more confidence in the larger profile of the FAT and the spots generally seem to agree.
  18. Used Digitaka and Japan Lure Shop multiple times with zero issues. JLS usually even throws in a nice freebie with your order.
  19. Yeah, happened to be watching that on Live when it happened. The location of that break on the hookset looked pretty consistent with being previously stepped/laid on. I'm surprised that doesn't happen more often with the way some of those guys sprawl out their rods on both sides of the deck and then semi-panic as they attempt to lip/land a nice fish.
  20. Yeti. Adopted him and the kids picked that as his new name since he's huge and loves the snow. πŸ˜†
  21. I noticed Trey McKinney was using these when he won the Lake Fork tournament this weekend. If he can catch 130+ lbs in 4 days on them I suppose it may be an alright series of rods. πŸ˜†
  22. So... what do those places go for around your lake? I may need to start working a second job and then come join you in a few years. πŸ˜†
  23. Reference to an interview on the Jim Rome show about 20 yrs ago that became a thing of legend in the years that followed. NSFW as they say.
  24. Lol, thank goodness no. We have two of those tiny things (3-4lbs) and they pretty much run the place. It's pretty funny to see them get mad at the St Bernards and nip at their feet while they just stare back at them with a wth are you doing look on their faces. Gentle giants (well, as long as you're not a chicken 😬😬).
  25. Former Chicago Cubs first baseman Mark Grace had a very interesting approach to slumpbusting, but you'd probably just be better off tossing a wacky rigged 5" green pumpkin senko along shoreline structure now that it's March. Best of luck!
