  1. Congratulations on the exceptional day!
  2. Didn't cross paths with any big girls but sure enjoyed catching quite a few males. Dedicated some time to "dice" for the first time and have to say they liked it. Bad news is it wasn't just bass. πŸ˜†
  3. Heart skipped a beat when I saw these on my way to the lake. I have a whole new respect for them after a couple were RIP'd courtesy of my grill at 50 mph and put my truck out of commission for nearly a month while waiting for parts.
  4. I was following a shad spawn up shallow and came around a corner where this guy was waiting for me. I could hear him yelling, "You want a piece of me?" in his best Frank Constanza voice. Fish moved out a little deeper than I expected for this time of year, so I figured it would be a good time to practice with a free rig. They loved that Bellows gill. DoLive beaver also delivered.
  5. Pardee is pretty close to you and has a healthy population of SM. Used to be some absolute giant SM in there and I'm sure there's still some giants swimming around. If you're up for a road trip into the mountains Almanor is well worth the trip.
  6. Small world! And to make it smaller, Hayden Lake is one of my favorite lakes I've had the pleasure of fishing.
  7. The 842c would serve you well. Super versatile with a nice tip for smaller baits and lighter lines (I use 6 or 7# sniper with an alde).
  8. Awesome fish. Congrats on the great trip!
  9. I was surprised to have this sweet girl wade out to visit me while I was throwing a swimbait off a long shallow point. Unfortunately she didn't bring me good luck. πŸ˜† Spot on an underspin. Wacky senko Even got a LM to join the party.
  10. Picked up an Evergreen Combat Stick for wake baits/rats and finally pulled the trigger on a couple Buzbe Qube bags. Not sure they're worth their higher than it seems like they should be price, but I am appreciating the number of plastics they can hold for my day bag on the deck. Replenished a bunch of plastics with Omnia's buy 2 get 1 free deal.
  11. Thinking this can't be good for the apple blossoms. Been a while since winter gave us a couple more inches of snow in May.
  12. Absolutely jinxed it. Heading into our 3rd and last day on the trip to Clear Lake I said I was shocked we hadn't hooked a big catfish or carp since that's the only lake that always seems to happen. Well, it was a day of dink bass not pic worthy and giants we weren't chasing. Big cat on a wacky senko. Always disappointing when you go from thinking you have a giant bass to realizing that's no stinking bass. The wrong type of PB. Never seen a carp with this type of girth and length. Caught it on a finesse tube with 6# sniper, and that Certate was screaming as it ran at least a couple hundred feet and under a couple docks that fortunately didn't have ropes running under them. Had to put the trolling motor all the way up to 10 to catch up before she could spool me. Heck of a fight. Around 36" and full of eggs I'm guessing she had to be at least 25-30lbs.
  13. Spent a few hours weed eating over the weekend and as I was finishing up the last patch this fella scurried right past my boot. Never seen one so big (~16") and I thought for sure it was going to be a baby rattler when I first saw it move. Never been so relieved to see a big lizard.
  14. Pops starting the day off with a nice one again. Being a littlestitious, I shaved the poor excuse of the start of a vacation beard into a goatee figuring the bass clearly didn't know who I was when they hid from me the day before. First bass didn't help. πŸ˜† The start of an accidental crappiefest. Double hookup. And some mild trash talk of my crappie is bigger than your bass... Finally got into a good one. Incredible sunset to close out a great day.
  15. They're obsessed with watching the cats get fed every night πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
  16. Nice dually and it should treat you well! I have a '16 2500 Cummins and couldn't be happier with it for the past 8 years. No intention to ever get rid of it. More importantly, when do we get to see a pic with the camper shell on it? πŸ˜†
  17. "Needed" a light action rod for finesse swimbaits and drop shot and I couldn't pass up the Flyssa. Always have to replenish senkos and I'll be testing these square bills now that our bass have moved up.
  18. Pops starting off the afternoon trip with an eager buck on the edge of the tulles. Up to this point the best fish was an unexpected crappie πŸ˜† Dinkfest for me this time His best fish in years. Long arming so it's not quite as big as it looks, but it was still a solid 4lbs with an incredible amount of girth. Great afternoon!
  19. Omnia has buy 2 get 1 free (33% off) for all soft plastics. Only exclusion appears to be Megabass. Just loaded up on senkos, swammers, and keitechs. Also applies to Hudds if anyone is looking for a huge discount on some core colors. Code is SOFTBAITB2G1 https://www.omniafishing.com/c/soft-baits
  20. Good Lord! That's a season end recap for people who routinely catch big smallies!! πŸ˜†πŸ˜†
  21. As others have mentioned, the NRX 852 is fantastic for wacky rigs. If you're throwing wacky 5" senkos I do not think there's a better rod for the technique, but if you wacky rig with a small finesse worm the Whipsnake would be a solid choice.
  22. Oh yeah, your Tequila Baccarac. I've had my eye on that rod for years but the couple times I was ready to pull the trigger they'd be out of stock. My plan has been to put a Zillion HD on it... seems like it would be a really good fit. Tranx 300's are excellent reels, but mine are on 8 footers and IMO they may be a bit heavy/big for the TB. Best of luck with your pursuit!
  23. Not that you need any nudging, but the Calcutta Conquest MD 300 has been an absolute joy to fish with.
  24. Kept coming overnight and now it looks like they just forgot to remove the dash when they said 1-3" πŸ˜†
