  1. I have a couple and have been more than pleased with them. I also have a Stella and Twin Power on my primary spinning setups and would have been perfectly happy with 4 Exsence instead. Reel is butter smooth, casts incredibly well, and looks pretty great. No "cons" to speak of outside of the price.
  2. That looks like an awesome combo! I can go pretty light on my alde/842 combo with 6# sniper but that combo would make mine look like punching gear.
  3. Comment option wasn't popping up when I "anonymously" pushed the loot up to the $500 mark. Great cause and thanks for putting this together!
  4. Where there's smoke there's probably fire, but it would be great if he was on the fence and then this being leaked motivated him to play one more year on a farewell tour. First it was a supreme court justice being told he's retiring and now it's the GOAT... sad people so badly want to be the ones to break a story that they jump the gun instead of having the class to let someone announce their own huge decision. If it was his last year he went out in epic GOAT fashion with one of the best seasons in the history of the league: 5316 yards (3rd most ever) and 43 TD's (10th most ever)
  5. My wife minored in def education in undergrad and had quite a few def friends. I picked up the simple things like hello/good-bye, yes/no, eat/drink and a few others, but fortunately for me they were incredible lip readers. My wife taught our kids the alphabet signs and to this day they all know they can communicate that way in front of me and I won't have a clue what they're talking about. Odds are you're doing all the right things to learn on your own right now, and you breaking out any signing at all next time you see him is going to be greatly appreciated.
  6. I'm not a huge 49ers fan but NorCal > SoCal so I'm hoping to see Shanahan push the winning streak over McVay to 7. Be nice to see the Bengals pull it off and have a circa 80's super bowl of the Bengals v 49ers. However, now that I've jinxed them both the Chiefs v Rams super bowl should be entertaining. ?
  7. Have some teenagers visiting tonight, so dad is having a couple fingers of "decaf coffee" tonight. ?
  8. Sure wish we'd get some more rain/snow, but I have to admit this run of mid-60's sunny days and 53* water has me itching for spring fishing even though its still a couple months away. Fish might be a little confused as well... can't remember the last time I caught so many quality LM in <10ft in January. Winter is usually all about the spots but today was 50/50 with nearly every fish in the 15-17" slot. Wacky up shallow Twinning They were also digging that Northern Secret jr+ 30 fow on a drop shot for this fella Pops on a wacky
  9. Went for a solo trip figuring the nice, warm stable weather the past couple weeks would have them on the bite. Wrong. Even the little ones were few and far between but it was still great being out there chasing them. Threw a ton of things at them but a spoon and Ned were the only things I could get them on.
  10. Time to unwind with season 4 of Ozark...
  11. When Monday is a holiday Sunday night becomes Saturday night...
  12. Took a family trip to Yosemite for lunch and some light winter hiking.
  13. Couldn't pass up a chance for a 3 generation trip before my daughter headed back to college. Fortunately the spots and even a couple LM were interested in Neds, tubes, and a jig. Water temp 53*. Pops with his first one. Kids always gotta show us up Double hookup. Looks like this guy finally passed something that had to be quite uncomfortable. Great day out there and the cooperative fish were just a bonus.
  14. The news is so negative these days nearly every day for me starts with fishing videos/shows as I drink my morning coffee. Thank goodness for Tacticalbassin M/W/F and Zona, Matt Stefan, Greg Blanchard and many others filling in those other days.

  16. Dobyns 806 should be just what you're looking for. I like the 795 for magnum topwaters, rats, and slammers and the 806 for mid-sized glidebaits.
  17. I always get a kick out of how much they love the snow.
  18. It's finally Friday...
  19. Sorry to hear that and thoughts & prayers for their family for quick recoveries. There's lots of emerging research showing the antibodies from the vax/booster do not provide neutralizing immunity to omicron, but fortunately there's still a significant benefit from t-cell immunity that greatly lessens severity. Omicron is also predominant in the upper respiratory tract with 10x (1000%) less virulence in the lung tissue compared to delta. In Europe and Israel that's led to widespread transmission to everyone regardless of vax/boost status or prior infection, relatively mild cold-like illness for most people, and much less pneumonia for those people who get omicron. Delta was quickly displaced by omicron in Europe and hopefully that happens here very, very soon.
  20. I'm in the other ballpark... bait monkey tricked me into buying more tackle than I'd ever need. With that in mind, I generally take a junk fishing approach just to see how many different things I can catch them on. I showed some restraint this last time out and only took 10 setups. ?
  21. We got a nice break in the weather after around 18" of snow last week, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take Pops out for his 77th. Started out as an unexpected trout fest but fortunately we eventually got into some bass. First fish of the day for the birthday boy. I wish it had been the other way around, but while he was catching infrequent dinks in the creek channel I got into some nice ones with a 2.8. Finally got into a school with a few nice spots that wanted a Ned. Caught this 7# cat in the same area on a Ned... thought it was a nice bass until the endless headshakes started. His only bass of the day and had him long arm that b-day bass like a big dog while tucking his other hand and thumb way back. Went from 12" to a 2 pounder just like that.
  22. Came in bunches overnight... 12" in about 8 hours that went on top of the 4 we already had. We love the snow but the downside is the inevitable power outages (went out mid-morning and not expected to be restored for at least 48-60 hours).
  23. Took some time off this week in hopes of doing some more fishing before the end of the year, but we got hammered with a snowstorm and had to cancel those plans. Plan B to start the day with coffee in the hot tub wasn't too bad of a consolation prize.
  24. Reviving this thread in hopes of seeing the great foods BR has been having as part of their Christmas celebrations. I smoked a ham for Christmas Eve and then used some of the leftovers in a quiche this morning. Our Christmas morning tradition of homemade cinnamon rolls and cast iron quiche.
  25. The little 4 pounder getting first dibs on the Christmas Eve ham bone. She always loves her Christmas morning stocking stuffer. He's a giant but prefers a more dainty bone. ?
