That's pretty funny right there... but wild cold water 4 pound trout do put up a pretty good fight and take some nice runs. Looks like no one else on here wants to admit that they have a $30 reel in their arsenal. ;D

Skeet got skunked and defended his title by coming in 43rd... he can't be too happy. Sunday should be awesome with KVD second and Ike 4th. Nothing against the other leaders, but I would love to see those guys have a shootout and go 1-2.

Definitely a good reel for crappie... I've landed 4+ pound trout on my 1500 Crossfire without any drag problems.

Not impressed with the sale at all. I might get a spooling station since I'm getting tired of stripping all that line by hand every year, but that's about it. The "quality" of the sale is making my TW order even larger. EIU... I definitely agree with you regarding Cabelas. They do put A LOT of online stuff on sale every week.

If you're budgeted for a sub-$30 reel, then it's a pretty good little reel. I have one on an ultra light trout set up and have enjoyed it... just don't expect to be blown away. The Shimano Sienna may be a good choice as well since it is in that same price range. I don't have a Sienna but have had good results with my other Shimano reels.

If you're there during the Elite tourney the best spots will probably be pretty pressured. Depends where you stay, but there are so many 5+ pounders in there that you can pretty much pick any section and get a nice bag.

Wow, Skeet has only 3 fish on day one while others are culling. So much for defending that title. KVD is going to be tough to catch with that sort of lead (only 6 anglers within 5 lbs already).

I've had the most success with grubs... specifically 4" Yamamotos.

Can't beat tubes.

Just picked up a Shimano Sonora and it casts a mile. I almost use Shimano exclusively and would say my favorite sub $100 reel is a Sahara ($30 over your budget)... the only one I'm not a huge fan of is the Spirex secondary to the lack of Super Stopper Anti-reverse like the other models have.

Also a big fan of the Cx-Premium... should be fine.
