If that's the case (eating back 1/2) you may want to try a 3/0 EWG with the hook point exposed as opposed to texposed. However, my hands down most effective way is nose hooked with a finesse circle hook.

Odds are that you're going to love it. I just picked up the LTB version for my "all purpose" spinning rod after reading a ton of reviews on here. I like the split grips, so I went with the LTB. If I was going with a solid grip, I would have pulled the trigger on the Avid. Most people tend to love them.

I had no idea it was only $40 for the season. I was able to switch over to it a few times during the free NFL Ticket day on opening weekend and it was pretty cool. I'd miss too many games to lay down the cash for the full NFL Ticket package but $40 would be well worth it, especially when the "local" games are boring, during half time, commercials, etc.

You guys are nuts with some of these teams mentioned still likely to be at least .500 by the end of the year. The Bills and Rams are probably the front runners right now for the top pick. The Lions are actually looking decent and when Stafford returns they should start winning some games. The Bills are almost sad to watch and it looks like they may be trading their RB and benching the QB already.

You definitely don't want a new onset of BP in your reel, but 1/2 of a mm is unlikely to cost you any fish, especially if you set the hook with your thumb on the spool.

Depends on how much weight you'll be using. I use as little as 1/8th pretty frequently, so I always use spinning gear (G. Loomis DSR822S). If you always use 1/4 oz or more, you may be happy with a casting DS rig. I struggle with BC's below 1/4 oz, so it was an easy choice for me. Good luck!

Love the price. Smells like black licorice. So far they've held their own for me compared to other brands.

The Falcon looks sweet and would look nice on a Vendetta, but you may be paying more for pretty than quality. Unless you're set on going with an Abu, you may want to check out the Clarus and Compre Shimano rods paired with a Sahara as previously mentioned by NM. That being said, if you're a big Abu fan you'll probably enjoy the Vendetta paired with a Cardinal or Falcon reel.

I recently picked up a G. Loomis DSR822S and love it so far. In addition to the Dobyns rod mentioned, I've also heard good things about the St Croix Avid AVS69MLXF. Good luck!
