I like throwing them on light spinning gear... makes a 3 pounder feel like a hog. Also caught quite a few trout and bass on these little fellas.

Not this (they're much better at treating acute problems v chronic). Definitely do some stretching and strengthen your back and core muscles (rows, pull ups, planks, etc).

I've caught more bass on a Speed Trap than any other CB, but then again... I throw a Speed Trap more than any other crank.

Definitely want to be throwing something a little different... maybe go with a silent CB if clarity is good enough or a C-rig if you at least have enough time for it to drag the bottom before he's already in the next hole.

Wow, I didn't realize he was that far along in his battle. That is really cool that he was able to hold on long enough to ride along at the Classic. I've lost a couple friends/family to cancer the past couple years and have a couple more battling it now. Absolutely horrible disease.

I wouldn't be in a rush to throw out a lot of potentially good line. Strip off about 20 yards, spray it with KVD L&L conditioner, throw a few practice casts... and odds are that it will be good as new.

A buddy of mine that can afford much more expensive gear goes with Presidents... absolutely loves that reel.

I switch out the fronts with red and backs with black on my cranks pretty regularly. KVD advocated it in his book andallegedly does this with many of his cranks, but I haven't looked closely at his 1.5 and 2.5's he's been using in tourneys lately to see if he's still doing it. I haven't noticed a big difference one way or the other, but if you're switching out hooks anyway, why not?
