  1. Anyone have any experience with these? I've had good luck in the past with Berkley rods but went away from them for more expensive rods. Now I'm counting pennies as I'm sure many of us are and looking for some good quality casting rods that won't break the bank.
  2. Has anyone tried using an Owner 5304 or 5317 with the Do-It Weedless Brush Jig Mold? I emailed Do-It and they said it "may" require modification. I'm interested if anyone has tried it, and what if any modifications to the mold are required. Thanks!!
  3. Truman Reservoir in a local club tournament. I hung a fat free shad in an overhanging tree limb. Motored over to get it out. I had to pull the limb down with one hand and attempt to untangle the lure with the other. Long story short the limb slipped from my hand, driving the treble into the fat part of my palm. Because of the part of my hand it was buried in, I couldn't push the barb through and cut it off. I probably should have went to the emergency room but I had 5 fat fish in the livewell and weigh in was only about an hour away. I carry some antiseptic spray with some sort of powerful numbing agent in it (I highly recommend carrying this in your boat). Sprayed in on, and yanked it out with needle nose. Wrapped a clean rag around it and kept fishing. I placed 2nd in the tournament and my hand was sore for a week.
  4. I fish jigs A LOT. I've experimented with trimming the skirts and weed guards extensively. I can honestly say that I do not see the up side to trimming either. I don't notice that I get more strikes with a trimmed skirt nor do I lose or miss more fish with an un-trimmed weed guard. I have stopped trimming either and I catch a butt load of fish on jigs and rarely miss a fish on the hook set. IMO people who claim they are missing fish because of the weed guard are either a) fishing an inferior jig or haven't mastered the art of when to set the hook with a jig i.e. they try to do it like plastics. If you feel the need to trim your skirt to downsize your presentation you should probably just go to a finesse jig. Strike King jigs are nails right out of the package.
  5. Depends on the lake around here but it's hard to go wrong with a T-rigged 10" power worm REAL SLOW on points with timber. Football jigs on rocky points produce too.
  6. Love this crankbait in shallow water or any water when bass are chasing shad. I like to fish it over tree tops in 20+ feet of water in the Fall when the LM's are really running shad, they come up and slam it. I like the ghost shad color.
  7. I like ghost craw in brown and green for table rock
  8. I try to drink a giant Mountain Dew and eat some pork rinds during every tournament. Seriously.
  9. I've got quite a bit of experience fishing the James Arm that time of year so I'll offer this: It's all going to depend on what stage of the spawn the fish are in. Late April on TR could be pre-spawn, spawn, or post-spawn. As with any other lake the fish don't all spawn at the same time so late April you should be able to get on fish. Just to be clear, I'm talking mainly large mouths here. That being said my experience has shown that you will need: Wiggle Warts in craw colors Spinnerbaits (if the wind is up) Jigs, jigs, jigs
  10. I haven't had a problem with them drying out and I've been doing it that way for years. Like others said, I keep the 'reserves' in the garage in the original package and replenish my plano boxes when they get low. It's a great way to keep your boat organized. I have a box for 7" worms, big worms, finesse worms, etc etc. I label them w/ a Sharpie and put them in my boat box so I can quickly grab the plano I'm looking for. Fantastic for getting back in the water quickly in a tournament. Just an FYI BPS puts the XPS brand on sale during the Spring Classic sale. They are usually discounted pretty deep.
  11. I like to flip big 10" or longer worms and I use the Owner Oversize worm hook in 7/0 for 10-12" worms and 11/0 for anything longer. They are super beefy and razor sharp out of the package.
  12. Thanks fellas! I'm going to buy this battery.
  13. I'd like any feedback from owners of this battery. I'm seriously considering it because it has a high reserve capacity (205) and only costs $75.
  14. I absolutely SLAY bass here in MO on the 10" black grape. I caught more keeper bass on this worm than all my other worms combined last year. I also like Camo for both sizes and have good luck pitching Camo in the middle of the day. Good Luck!!
  15. I keep them in their original package and put those in the Falcon worm bag. They are designed to original worm bags perfectly. I also use x-large ziplocks and stuff worm bags in those.
  16. Been bass fishing since I was old enough to cast thanks to my dad. Grew up in NC, lived in CT, HI, GA, FL, and now MO. Been tournament fishing since '02. I'm a hard-core flipping and pitching fisherman who prefers jigs and large plastics. Currently I'm on a mission to break my personal MO biggest bass of 7lb 1oz.
