    Smallest...

This question is for the swimbait builders. Whats the smallest swimbait yall have built? I would like to know how you built it to perform and if it performed how you wanted. From my understanding from this forum and others the smaller they are the harder the build!!!?? Plan to try and build one from PVC. I may tackle the task of building a couple of big ones before the smaller. By small I mean 3" or smaller. Thanks for any feed back. Lee
  2. Those baits look awesome. One of these days.......
  3. Thanks for compliments.
  4. Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction. Im using the windows deal that skeeterman suggeted. Never knew that was on my computer(haha!). I guess I need to start using this computer a little more. Lee
  5. Ive built and painted as of late. In between working, hunting and fishing I finally got some building and painting done. I call the bigger ones fat flats and the others are just flats. Let me know what you think.
  6. Or anyone who knows something about taking good pics and posting them. It seems all my pics are to big to post and Ive tried to resize with no luck. Its most likely my computer illeteracy(lol). Is there a certain setting(the megapixel or mode) on your camera that seems to take a better pic and keep the file size down? Thanks for any help in this matter. Lee

    How Do You....

Thanks everyone for the responses. By the way Bobp do you seal coat the lure with the false lip in/out? And how do you keep the seal coat from getting in the lip slot(if false lip not installed)?

    How Do You....

What about when you are applying epoxy/seal coat? How do you attach the lure to a turner without the lip? Do you have a lure turner setup like the amistad tackle guy? By the way do you cut your lip slot before or aft you seal coat? Sorry for all the ?s just trying to learn different ways to do some of this stuff. Lee
  11. This ? is for those of you who paint your baits before installing the lip and seal with epoxy. How do you turn your lures and then paint them? I guess a better form of the question would be what do you use to hold the bait when turning and painting?
  12. Nice indeed! I like skeetermans names.

    Baits

Fortunately I have a pool so I get to test them to make sure there not duds. Lol! These do have a tight wiggle and dive to about 3ft on 8 to 10lb test. The crappie pattern one has a different bill so it actually dives to 6 to 7ft on 10lb test. The action on it is similar to the shallower ones.

Thanks bigm for the reply. Ill give that method a try. Thanks Lee

    Thru Wire

Thanks bobp for the insite and expertise. Question for you. You stated if you build a soft balsa w/out thru wire you use epoxy to seal and top coat(correct the statement if I misinterpretted). Would epoxy as seal then DN not be sufficient? Or you prefer epoxy to seal and topcoat for rigidity? Thanks.

    Thru Wire

I know everyone has their own preference in how they buid baits. I know some like screw eyes and some thru wire. I would like to know is it worth the extra steps to make a thru wire harness or not and is it just personal preference? Is epoxy strong enough to hold a made up screw eye in for the long haul? Just trying to pick yalls brains and see what yalls opinions and thoughts are on the subject. Lee
