  1. I was at the Classic Expo yesterday, the Dicks mini-store they had at the Classic has the Scatter Raps. The Bait Monkey made me buy five of them (get a free Rapala T-shirt when you buy five). I like the looks of them, Helsinki Shad and and Blue-Back Herring in particular. I bought two of the models, one that is basically a Shad Rap 7 with the new bill design and the other model is a small crankbait. I like the way these lures look and I think they'll catch bass once the bass get into a pre-spawn mode. I do have a couple of complaints about these 2 models (crank and Shad Rap) and that is they are rather small and light, going to be tough to cast on a BC, so I'll probably end up throwing them on a spinning rod, I don't like fishing cranks on a spinning rod, but I really don't like getting backlashes. They don't have a dep running model either, unless you buy the countodwn minnow. The cranks range is stated at 6-8 feet and the SR7 at 5-8 feet.
  2. X2 on the wild card. I have an 873, great rod for dragging 3/8-1/2 oz FB jigs, t-rigs, light c-rigs, and Senkos. But I'm not saying it's a better all purpose rod than the 853, as I have never fished the 853.
  3. I thought Denny retired? But kudos to him for the win!
  4. Yep, look like Shad Raps to me. As an addition to the tactics the guys have talked about, they're also a great bait to use when bass are on top busing shad. Just throw them at the boils and twitch on the surface.
  5. If you're going to the Classic exhibition, Tackle Center will be selling 10XD's at "Special Classic prices" (whatever that means).
  6. The Best online bass tackle retailer IMO.
  7. Yes I have heard the next one is in Florida. I just hope it's not one of those deals where they spend their time punching weed mats with 50 Lb. braid and one ounce weights. You know, one of those deals where every time they get a bass on, it gets totally encased in weeds and can't fight or jump. They drag in a big ball of weeds and somewhere inside the weed ball is a hidden bass. This to me would be much worse than watching a NY dock fishing dinkfest, LOL.
  8. All this hype for yet another deep diving crank? Ok, it's got a unique hunitng action, but is it really that much better to deserve this hype? I'll probably end up buying a few however.
  9. I'm beginning to think that we should have 2 versions of the Olympics. We could have "manly" Olympics where you have sports like wrestling, boxing, track, weightlifting, etc. And then you have a "girly" Olympics where you have "sports" like ballroom dancing, synchronized swimming, figure skating, hoseback riding and the like.
  10. Got it in the mail yesterday afternoon. I've got the Bassmaster Classic show the weekend of the 23rd. then the following weekend I'll probably make a trip up to BPS in Springfield. Woo-Hoo!!!
  11. BPS will have them on sale for $7.97 during the Spring Classic.
  12. Kinda, sorta final, here's a quote from the press: However, the decision isn’t quite final. Wrestling, which includes both Greco-Roman and freestyle disciplines, will now be thrown in against the other seven sports vying for a single spot in the 2020 Games schedule: baseball/softball, squash, wushu, roller sports, karate, sport climbing, and wakeboarding. A final vote will happen among the full IOC leadership at a meeting in Buenos Aires this September. WTH is "wushu"?? Take out a sport that's been part of the Olympics since the very beginning in ancient Greece to substitute "wushu"???. or "roller sports"?
  13. I've seen that myself. A $25 bait with a missing split ring? Inexcusable!
  14. Megabass 110's have a tendency to do that FLOAT UP thing. Always a good idea to have suspend dots on hand when fishing any "suspending" bait.
  15. The IOC voted to remove wrestling fom the 2020 Olympics. Apparently it's not "popular" enough. I can understand that there may not be a lot of wrestling fans out there, but this is one of the traditional Olympic competitions, hate to see it get axed.
  16. Never been to one myself, so this Tulsa deal will be my first. I'll try and remember to let you know what I think. I'm anticipating there's a lot to look at, I believe there's in the neighborhood of 150 booths.
  17. They did not have one last year, I remember that. But some of the other online tackle dealers had sales so you might be able to find your rods elsewhere. TW also claims to match prices, so it you can find one on sale somewhere else, you could call TW and see if they'll match.
  18. They do work, buddy of mine caught an 8 lb. LM out of the back of my boat last December on the Pro-blue color. They have upgraded the split rings, I'm not impressed with the stock hooks, so I swap those out.
  19. The flagship store in Springfield MO, has always had Wiggle Warts on sale for something like $2.99, so I always grab a handful of those. BPS tungsten weights are usually on sale, and I always need some more tungsten weights. Last year they had sale prices on Lucky Craft cranks. I'm hoping they get their flyer out soon so we can see what the deals are. It's only 2 weeks away for crying out loud!
  20. I'd definitely pick up an XD 78 or three Got this girl on a 78 (Pearl Threadfin shad) a couple of weeks ago.
  21. Got my latest edition of Bassmaster magazine yesterday, several articles on what the pros are thinking as far as fishing Grand. It's a good issue to pick up if you're not a subscriber. The magazine also has an insert that has a coupon for one free buffet at the Hard Rock hotel and casino, and a free gift coupon that you can take to the B.A.S.S. booth and get a free gift. Daily launch - Wolf Creek ramp, just outside of Grove - 7 AM. Daily weigh in - BOK Center, doors open at 3 PM. Outdoor expo - Tulsa Convention Center, Friday 2/22 12 PM - 8 PM, Saturday 2/23 10 AM - 7 PM, Sunday 2/24, 10 AM - 4 PM. All events are free

  22. Thanks for the offer on info, you might get a PM from me one of htese days. I might go over there next week, depends on the weather. I'll have to stop by the Larew booth, maybe get a free pack of Biffle Bugs?
  23. Yeah hopefully I get mine today. I hope it has a lot of info on Grand Lake as it's within 50 miles of me and I plan to fish it some this year.
  24. You definitely don't need the financial advisor if you're going to buy the funds direct. You can also buy directly from other mutual fund companies, so you don't need to limit yourself to Dodge and Cox. You should also be aware (if you don't know this), Mutual fund companies like Dodge and Cox will also charge you an annual maintenance fee, so you're paying the middle man, and you're paying Dodge and Cox. Fees can vary according to what fund you invest in, usually if you do a search on a specific fund you can find out what the fee is. It's also in the prospectus which you should be able to see online. Money magazine is a great source for basic info on investing in mutual funds. So is Smart Money magazine. If you don't mind doing a bit of research you'll quickly find out that you don't need the financial advisor.
