  1. I wish the Pats would go back to their old logo, that wavy head thing is a lousy logo IMO. I liked the old logo that showed the guy in colonial clothes in a 3 -point stance. I doubt they'll ever bring that back and in that case I hope they redesign their unis and get rid of that goofy wavy head thing.
  2. I miss Dunkin Donuts.
  3. Well in spite of the weather, the bass have been biting well here also. I'm just tired of throwing on the long underwear and standing on the trolling motor pedal all day to keep from getting blown backwards in the wind. I like bass fishing in shorts and a T-shirt. But things will warm up here shortly. Then it will be too hot
  4. I hear you on that, they're saying there could be snow showers here in NW Arkansas this morning. It's April 24th for crying out loud, snow showers? You gotta be kidding!
  5. Thanks for that info G3. Tough call, DX 745 or GLX 895. It would be nice to be able to give them both an "on the water" test before deciding. My gut feel is that the GLX will be a tad more sensitive but maybe is a little underpowered compared to the Dobyns. One strong plus for me with the Dobyns is their service. Decisions, decisions...
  6. Another 893 fan here, but make sure to register it under the wild card program. Speaking of GLX.s, anyone fish an 895? I'm thinking of getting one for dragging 3/4 oz FB jigs or 3/4 oz Biffle heads. I want something that is relatively sensitive, but yet has great hook setting power for those big jigs. Also considering a Dobyns Mike Long 745.
  7. Grubs are fished heavily on Table Rock lake in the spring (as in now). "Scrub the Grub" is what folks around here say, which is, put a grub on a 1/4 jighead and drag it on the bottom. Smoke with salt and pepper is a very popular color.
  8. Sounds like snakeheads present an excellent bowfishing opportunity when spawning.
  9. Well neither one of us was around then to "think that way". For the record, there is still a continuing problem with bass being introduced into trout lakes in Washington state (where I used to live), the state DFG has to continuously rotenone the lakes to get rid of the bass. I was always in favor of it. There are places in this country where bass do not belong and should be kept out. Same goes for snakeheads. And I doubt you'll find a fisheries biologist in the US that is in favor of introducing snakeheads.
  10. Once you've used it for a bit, you'll have to let us know your opinion.
  11. T-rig a tube. C-rig a craw. Finesse jigs.
  12. If I ever catch one (and I sincerely hope they never show up in the lakes I fish), they're not going back in the water alive. I don't want any obnoxious critters messing with my bass fishing. It's great that they are at least good to eat, but there's already plenty of 'good to eat" fish in the lakes around here.
  13. There's a bunch of online tackleshops, best way to find them is to do a search on whatever item it is you're looking for.
  14. I've always wondered about the Premier spinning reels, you just don't hear much about them. I'd like to get one, but they ain't cheap.
  15. I've scored some nice fish on the Mighty Bug, good score at $1.50/pack! Don't buy the Megabass baits, wait for Luck E Strike to come out with an inexpensive imitation.
  16. Yeah I'd like to see Couples win it, but seems like a longshot. I'm just hoping that no one runs away with it and it comes down to the last hole with several guys in contention. I forget how they handle a playoff at Augusta.
  17. Congrats to co-angler winner Steve Meadors! We both live in the same town, glad to see him win it!
  18. I'm surprised no one has started a Masters thread, guess I'll have to do it. Looks like it's going to be a good last day, plenty of folks in contention. Can Angel Cabrera win a 2nd Green Jacket? I think Tiger won't be able to do it, 4 strokes back and he really hasn't played well since that miscue at 15 on Friday. But he is capable of an amazing round, but it's tough to make up 4 strokes and jump over a group of players that are ahead of him.
  19. Not sure what you mean by "big" but I use tungsten bullet weights anywhere from 1/4 - 1/2 oz. They do come through cover well, and do a better job of transmitting bottom structure better than lead, but are more expensive. My buddy has been using the lead Mojo weights with great success, they seem to get snagged with less frequency than anything else we've tried (and we've tried a lot of different weights).
  20. I fish a c-rig quite a bit and my fishing buddy fishes them a lot. First thing I'll say is that is definitely a technique where a sensitive rod is a plus, you want to be able to differentiate between a bite and what it feels like when you're going through rocks. And as you noticed, when you're dragging through rocky stuff that's where you'll get your bites most often, I will usually avoid using a c-rig around muddy bottoms or weeds. As far as bites, I usually will put a little pressure on the rod when I feel a tap-tap and if it feels fishy, I'll set the hook, I'm a fun fisherman so I won't let them take it too long as they can end up swallowing the bait and end up as bleeders. I'd rather miss a few than kill a few. But with bass on a c-rig bite, if you feel a bite they've more than likely got it in their mouth, so go ahead and set on them.
  21. I hear you on that, everyone knows the risks associated with football, and I haven't seen a player drafted out of college who declined the offer and stayed out of the NFL. It did happen in the past, back in the early days when a guy could make more money in a good job than playing in the NFL, but once the NFL salaries got high enough you did not see that happen anymore.
  22. Yep some deep water winter stuff would be neat, and I'd like to see them film the schooled up spotted bass that are 20-30 feet deep in Table Rock in the summer.
  23. Yeah but they're whining now, concussion lawsuit, brought about by the oldtime players is triggering all this safety stuff. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/22036387/lawyers-argue-nfl-concussion-lawsuit-judge-makes-no-ruling
  24. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not so good, seems that lately there's been a lot of smallmouth stuff in clear lakes up north, which is great for you northeners, but for me, I want stuff about largemouth. Lots of product plugs as some guys have mentioned have crept into the show giving it that infomercial feel. I understand the reasons, but I tend to not watch or record infomercials. And so many of these shows are sponsored by Strike King, they're all turning into Strike King infomercials, sheesh..
  25. I'm sure it's challenging, but IMO it's not fun to watch. And I totally agree that the tactics they are using are what you have to do to get fish in the boat when fishing those weed bowls. But it's so boring to watch. Again, just my opinion, but I probably won't spend much time watching while they're doing the Florida thing.
