  1. Yep Premiers are a great all-around reel. If you see any more for $105 and you don't want to buy it yourself, please shoot me a PM!
  2. Light dusting so far here in NW Arkansas, forecast is for a couple more inches tonight.
  3. The reason the Griefs don't use Charles to full effect is explained by two words - Todd Haley. They need a better QB, but realistically they are probably stuck with Cassel. They also need a new head coach. If KC doesn't improve next year, my guess is Haley will get the axe.
  4. I have had no problems with the one I have. At $89 (TW) it's good value.
  5. Right handed for me, but hold the rod in my left hand when pitching. Cast with my right arm.
  6. They lost me after about 5 minutes. I tried again later and they lost me even faster. "The Bass Pros" is my favorite simply because it consistently passes on good information. And this year they dropped Rick Clunn's "The Art of Angling" segment and replaced it with an instructional segment with Stacy King called "Bass 101." Good move. I like the instructional shows - I hate it when I watch a fishing show and they don't tell you what exactly they are using, just some generalities such as "I'm fishin a shakey head". I watch fishing shows to learn stuff, watching some guys high five'n each other and yelling "SON" gets old. And I don't like the shows were mainly they are selling a bait, seems like when they do that type of show, they are fishing a private lake bass heaven at a prime time of the year. If you want to sell me a bait, go out on a highly pressured public lake (and please mention the lake name) and catch fish. That impresses me a heckuva lot more.
  7. Yep I agree with Mr Breth, I tend to use my larger capacity reels more often.
  8. On a well known auction website they are offering the new Abu Premier 2011 model (7:1 retrieve ratio) for $196 with free shipping, it's a "Buy now" so not an auction. Darn good price for that reel, if I needed another reel I would have bought one.
  9. Wow, I was worried because I have about 30 3700 boxes. I thought I might end up being featured on one of those "Hoarder" reality shows. But I'm glad to see that some of you guys have a lot more stuff than I do. Then there's all the spools of line, rods, reels, and miscellaneous stuff. And the boat.. And the truck to tow the boat..
  10. BigEbass, I'm a newbie myself to them, but they worked well yesterday. We were casting them to bluff walls where there was a dropoff to 25-40 feet. I cast them to the wall, let it drop for a second or two, lifted my rod to about 12 O'clock and let it drop again, continue doing this until you work it back to the boat. The hits were light, so if you think it's a bite, set the hook! If you do a Google search on flutter spoons you can find some in depth articles that will tell you a lot more than I can. Jann's Netcraft is the only place I could find the Bigger Texas style blanks, I ordered some and I'll see how they work.
  11. Went out yesterday in a friends boat and we had a great day fishing flutter spoons, caught 20 or so, a mix of spots and LM. I lost one spoon on a snag and these things are a little pricey, $6-8 depending on the brand. I'm looking at making my own to save a few $$$, Netcraft catalog has flutter spoons (without the hooks), at about $2 each if you buy 10. Has anyone tried them? Do any of you build your own, and if so, where do you get the spoons?
  12. I have a BPS Extreme bag that I have used for 3 years now and I take it every time I go fishing, and I fish a lot. No rips, tears, or broken zippers.
  13. I have one myself, as said before, the twitching bar is not in the way so if you don't want to use it, it's no problemo. I use it mainly for pitching jigs and it has worked fine for me. Good value for $89.
  14. Picked up a few yesterday afternoon at a local lake, on a McStick in Ghost Shad and a Flit in perch. I noticed the McStick was slowly rising on the pause while the Flit would suspend perfectly. I'll put a few suspoend dots on the McStick going forward, but even with the slow rise it did catch fish. Water temp was 41 degrees.
  15. I should add - you can catch "Bonus" fish on a McStick also - here's a pic of an 8 lb. carp I caught on one. I would say it's a fluke, except it is the 2nd Buglemouth I have caught on a McStick.
  16. Yep, got mine a few days ago, awesome looking jigs, if the weather cooperates I am going to fish them tomorrow AM and sweeten them up with an Uncle Josh black eel trailer.
  17. McSticks work for me, Norman Flake is an excellent color for murky water. It's a good bait when the water temp is in the 45-55 degree range.
  18. Heard on another site that an owner had problems with the trailer, bad welding, bunks needed to be replaced. Just looking for other feedback from someone that has this brand of trailer. I'm mainly concerned about durability.
  19. I'm looking at a G3 boat which comes with a Trail Guard trailer manufactured by Bear trailers. Anyone had experience with this brand of trailer?
  20. BTW, I should mention, the Mass. state record LM which is 16 lbs and change, which is freaky big for a Mass. Bass, was caught on a jitterbug, at night. If I recall it was a musky sized jitterbug, I think they're about 8 inches long. As for lures that don't work for me, I can't get a bite on Rapala DT 10's. They sure look good, but nada for me.
  21. I think part of it is that for the most part they're built like crap anymore. From horrible stock hooks to off center mounting of hangers and lips, it's a gamble that you'll get a decent one out of the pack. What a shame as it is one of the all time greats. They used to make Jitterbugs out of wood, those were the best, the ones they make now (plastic), I would go with the jointed version. I used to fish them at night, during the summer, when I lived in Massachusetts, and I caught my PB on a jitterbug fished at night. I always use black for night fishing. I would fish them in the evening, nothing, but once it got dark - KABOOM! There's no doubt when a bass hits them. Flat calm nights are the best, early summer. Smallmouth like them too.
  22. All of the above I would add the LC Bevy Shad to the list. The Spro McStick 85, which is supposed to be on the shelves soon, looks interesting, dives to 8-10 feet. I'll be picking up a few.
  23. They look nice, $45 seems a little pricey IMO. I wonder if the shallow ones would work for jigs?
