  1. I'm not sure if you're saying the end result with fluoro was about 35 degrees down or if it was worse than that. I use fluoro with my jerkbaits and have never had anything remotely close to the vertical nose down issue you describe. My longest pauses might be 7 seconds, so the fluoro doesn't sink fast enough to cause what you described. It may increase the tilt some over mono, but I found that was more due to mono's preference to float, it would pull up the nose more than fluoro would pull down the nose. Just my experience with 100's and 75's. I haven't seen the nose down thing either with my Flit's, McSticks, McRips, Megabass, or pointers when using Invisix 10#. Every one in a while I will have a jerkbait that will slowly rise (again using Invisix), if that's the case I can fix it using a suspend dot or two.
  2. I use 10 lb Invisix and have no problem with downward pointed baits or slowly sinking baits. I can modify the baits if I want to make them slowly sink. I've had excellent success catching bass this winter on jerkbaits using Invisix. I'm not saying mono doesn't work, but if you think you can't catch bass on floro using jerkbaits you're mistaken - and I base that on personal experience, not on watching some pro on a DVD.
  3. Slowly sinking jerkbaits are not a bad thing, that's the tactic that won the FLW on Beaver lake last week. I use Invisix on a spinning reel, which I know many of you may disagree with, but I'm very happy with the results. Don't get too set in your ways when fishing jerkbaits, be flexible. No reason to be breaking fish off on the hookset, use sharp hooks, lighten up on the drag and your hookset. I have NEVER broken off a fish using a jerkbait on a hookset.
  4. When I was in high school a buddy of mine put a pickerel in a 15 gallon aquarium, very cool fish to have if you can afford the goldfish for it. When he would feed it a goldfish, he would drop it next to the pickerel, the pickerel would move real close to the GF, then... kazaam!, the goldfish would disappear. Pickerel can move real fast when they are hungry. Unfortunately the pickerel outgrew the tank, my buddy released it into a local lake, and there were no ill consequences.
  5. Owners and players need to read the fable of the Golden Goose. So do us fans, after all, we're the Golden Geese. Best solution would be a "fan lockout", if the season is screwed up, don't buy any NFL logo stuff, don't watch or go to games for the rest of the season, or what there is of a season.
  6. I think the bass are allergic to some of my lures...
  7. I've been tossing 1/8 oz t-rigs with my Sol/Dobyns 702 combo (8 lb Invisix), works fine as far as accuracy, I do get an occasional overrun, but no more than normal with my other BC stuff. Dobyns also has a 701 which I believe is rated down to 1/16, it would make an interesting combo with a Pixie, Sol or Steez.
  8. I fish black/blue flake at night during the summer. I love fishing at night when you can't see your rod tip, dragging that brush hog, then you feel that thump...
  9. NFL is the most popular sport in the US, they are are nuts if they screw up the golden goose by shutting down all or part of the season. This is like watching a movie where bank robbers pull off a huge heist and end up shooting each other when it's time to split the loot. It is soooooo stooooppid.
  10. I also feel your pain, why the heck they superglue (or whatever it is they use) those cereal bagtops like they do is beyond me. I guess I can start using scissors, kinda whimpy IMO, using scissors that is, a man should be able to rip stuff open and not have to worry about the contents dispersing all over the place, especially first thing in the AM.
  11. I just picked up a pack of the tube-craws, I'll be trying them out this week at a heavily pressured warm-water discharge lake. I like the way they look (and smell), but what will Mr. Bass say?
  12. I've been using Invisix for my spinning reels this year for fishing suspending jerkbaits. I have no complaints, and I like the relatively thin diameter. Can't speak for the red label.
  13. I have a 14 year old granddaughter that will agree with that. Even if the emotional scars were to heal, she'll always be reminded of her encounter when she wears shorts or a swimsuit. I'd mention how much she stands to get from her settlement when she turns 21, but I'm afraid half of team pampers would be asking me for her address! That brings up a good point, if you do own a dog, you're going to be on the hook for a lawsuit if it attacks/mauls someone.
  14. I have one, not a bad reel for what - $89 at TW? For a reel in that price range it's a good deal. The twitching bar is something I do not use, but it doesn't get in the way so it doesn't effect the reel's functionality.
  15. Spro McSticks and McRips have worked really well for me this winter. Blue Bandit is a great color. I'm not claiming they are "The Best", but they work for me.
  16. Another vote for the Zoom 8 inch lizard.
  17. Suspending jerk baits (Spro McSticks, McRips, and LC Pointers) have been working down here with water temps in the 40's. We did well on spoons in December and January, but lately the spoon bite has been off.
  18. When these bozos call and ask "Is Mr (Mrs) Smith there?" Tell them, hold on a sec while I go find them, the set the phone down and see how long they hold on waiting for Mr Smith. Time is money to these clowns, so waste as much of their time as you can.
  19. Winter fishing has been great at times here in NW Arkansas, caught my personal best - 9.2 - this Friday. Had some of my best days numbers wise also. Downside is that there have been lots of days this year where it's been too cold and/or the lakes have been frozen over, it's been a really cold winter. There's been some days where I've been skunked or only caught a couple of fish, but it's still great to get out!
  20. I got my first Premier last year and now I have 4. I think they're a great reel.
  21. Keitech 3.8" Swing Impact fat. Ayu or Sexy Shad. Make sure you super glue them to the jig.
  22. They'd be stupid to let this get to a point where they screw up next season. The NFL is a money making machine, keep it tuned up but don't turn it off. They also need to drop the idea of an 18 game season, 2 more games will just add more players to IR.
  23. I think they should just end the halftime musical entertainment, instead have some kind of sports competition, like how the used to do Punt, Pass and Kick (remember that?), or draw random fans and have them try 40 yard field goals, if they make it they get $100,000. I'm sure we could all come up with a list of suggestions, but please no more geriatric or talentless music acts. As far as the National Anthem, bring in a choir to do it, if one bonehead in the choir blows it no one will notice. This is our National Anthem for crying out loud, don't entrust it to some airhead.

    Cabelas

The high shipping charges at Cabelas and BPS is the reason I will buy my stuff from sites that will give you free shipping on orders over $50. I only buy from Cabelas or BPS if it is something I have to have and can't find it anywhere else.
  25. 53, and I still get excited when I hook a nice bass.
