A buddy of mine picked up a Curado 50 on sale recently, he swapped out the bearings, put in Boca's, mounted it on a Dobyns 742 Extreme. He let me test cast it yesterday, had an unweighted Zoom Horny toad. 8 lb. test. I threw it half a dozen times, he had it dialed in, I could throw it far, didn't have to thumb the spool, no overruns at all. I was impressed. This may not be the right combo for you and the conditions you fish, but it's a sweet combo.

I haven't noticed any problems and I use Zoom plastics a lot. I'm wondering about the heat thing to, maybe they sat out in a hot storeroom for too long.

Caught a 10 lb. channel on a wacky rigged Senko this spring, son of a gun hammered it right after it hit the water, I saw what it was right away so I didn't suffer the "I got a big bass... dang it it's a catfish" letdown.

I like the Zoom OL' Monster in Black/Blue fleck or Black/Red fleck for night fishing or stained water. If I was to complain about them, they could be more durable, but I don't mind spending $4 for a pack of baits that I can get 15-20 bass out of.

I've tried other stuff, still like Zoom.

I'm not in the Shimano posse, but at the price the "Older" models are now selling at you can't go wrong. Great deals out there now on the old models.

Lot's of Zoom plastics in my tackle boxes, I love U-tales, Ol' Monster, Trick worms and Brush Hogs. Price is reasonable also. Great color selection. My only complaint is that some colors are not available across all products, for example green pumpkin/purple flake.

If you're going to get a high end rod, be sure and check out the warranty. I had an issue with a Dobyns Extreme, insert came out of the tip. I emailed Dobyns and they got me a new tip in the mail ASAP and it was free. Also sent me detailed instruction on how to change out the tip, and a number to call if I needed further help. I'm confident that if I have any other issues with any of my other Dobyns rods, they will do all they can to make it right.

I like all the bearish sentiment, best time to buy is when everyone is throwing in the towel.

I use Seaguar Invisix (8#) when fishing whacky rigged GY Senkos, I let it fall on slack line, weightless. The bites are easy to detect, just have to watch your line like a hawk.

Depends where you live, I get stuff faster from BPS than I do from TW. But free shipping from TW when your oder is over $50, whereas with BPS, the more you spend the more they charge for shipping.

Looks like they are going to sign a deal today to raise the debt ceiling. From what I've read it's disappointing, very little real spending reduction and it looks as it we'll have this debt ceiling issue again early next year unless Congress acts on additional spending cuts recommended by a yet to be created spending cut commission. Lat year we have recommendations for deficit reduction from a special commission set up by the Pres. Congress and the Pres. ignored the panel's recommendations. Now as part of this deal they're going to set up another panel to come up with a deficit reduction plan - This is nuts. What is going to happen is the can is kicked down the road, we'll face the same crap early next year. Washington is dysfunctional. It's sad to see our great country going downhill like this.

Go Pats! As far as Vick, I had the guy on my fantasy last year. He suffred a drop-off in performance the last several games of the season, oppsoing teams figured out how to stop him. Maybe the Eagles will adjust, and Vick will shine again this year. But if I end up with the #1 pick in our fantasy draft, I'd be leery about Vick. Especially with his tendency to get injured. The Eagles picked up Vince Young, you might see as much of him at QB as Vick.
