  1. Correct Rolo, CX has very low memory and very low stretch since it is a fluorocarbon coated copolymer line. Not fluoro, not mono, not fluoro-coated mono, it is a copolymer which has completely different characteristics than any other line type. The fluoro coating helps with the low visibility underwater and the copolymer gives it a slightly smaller diameter. Pline CX 15 lb = 0.34mm Yo Zuri Hybrid Fluorocarbon = 0.405mm Power Pro 15 lb braid = 0.007mm Ande Mono 16 lb = 0.375mm Most others in the 15 lb range are in the same 0.37 to 0.41mm range. So 15 lb Pline CX is closer to the equivalent of 12 lb of most other lines, and 12 lb is in the 8-10 lb test range of others.
  2. No titles means a whole lot of hoops you will need to jump through for both the trailer and boat, and it may end up a year or more before it is even legal to use. It may be a stolen boat which may trigger the investigation your way if you try to file paperwork for it, or cause much more stress than it should and you may still be out that money if the police confiscate it. No title = no thanks (unless it is an official police auction)
  3. Open it up year round, or at least, 9 of the warmest months. May be time to find a snake killer like a hyena or something that can hunt and kill those snakes... but alas there is none... so it takes man to hunt down the 125,000+ invasive snakes.
  4. mine is listed as 80... so just short of 50 more years to go... provided the wife doesn't kill me before then with her stupid stunts
  5. I don't stress. I am so laid back and easy going that it takes something massive before it gets to me... even then it fades quickly.
  6. Sorry, got the front moving through your way so it will be a good day to get out now through Friday, then this weekend will probably be terrible fishing once the cold front moves through.
  7. I am just wanting a good line that has low memory and stretch... I aint a pro but I just want some good equipment that I don't have to worry about like I do when I use fricken baitcasters
  8. Wow you guys need to stay away from me with all these bad luck charms... blown motors, flat tires, bad trolling motors...
  9. On one foot it is good to get the **** out of the way now, the bad is that it cost so much. Hopefully this is the last major needed expense of this type! Good luck!
  10. It may be the cooler weather have kept them deeper this year and only a few random movers were close enough to get caught.
  11. some items are online only, some are in-store only, some are both. I was just in the store earlier today and the Destin store had plenty of the sale items, bought my a BPS Kermy frog, underspin reel and pool noodles for my canoe.
  12. here is one from a shaded creek area, dark on top and white belly, plenty of light with little to none reflecting off the bottom, and crystal clear water
  13. nice backtracking! You seem to feel that your word and condescending tone counts for 50 people so feel free to think it as such. I use it almost every weekend with no problems so I suggest it. 10-15 lb Pline CX or CXX, or 20-30 lb Power Pro Pline over 15 lb does have issues on spinning gear.
  14. agreed I have had issues with Pline CX and CXX higher than 15 lb on spinning reels, but I did not suggest that.
  15. I found they tend to work well both weighted and weightless. sometimes I will run them Texas rigged weightless along the top of submerged weedbeds, and if it falls into an opening, give it some line to get in there and twitch it for some bites. I caught a decent number using this last year.
  16. Just because it doesn't work for you does not mean it does not work, please do not talk down to others just because something does not work FOR YOU. We are giving suggestions based on our experiences but it is ultimately up to the person to make their own choice and see what works for them. You stated most of your experience is with baitcasters (unless you backtrack againto change your story), so leave the suggestions for this SPINNING reel thread to those of us that actually use them on more than a rare occasion. My main spinning setup (Pflueger Trion GX-7 4740GX reel) has 12 lb Pline CX on it and is just as smooth and works better than any of the hundreds of mono or fluoro I have tried. If you don't want to use it, don't. No one is forcing you to but telling others that someones opinion is terrible is just wrong. >
  17. First, make sure you get the saltwater license, non-resident 3 day license is $17. All saltwater fishing from shore or on the water requires a license now. Second, saltwater fish are a lot less picky than freshwater, so anything from shrimp to cut up fish will work. Someone with more Florida saltwater experience should chime in shortly.
  18. For spooling I have used and and all methods. Using the roll off method, and using my right hand to hold the rod up keeping the line tight as it spools on is the best method I have found. Any line that unspools or creates bird nests is usually too stiff of a line for spinning reels and I change it out to a better quality line like 10-15 lb Pline CX, CXX or Power Pro braid 20-30lb
  19. Even here in northwest FL where it was 30s and 40s for the past few months, it is getting in the 60s now and even 70s later this week. Spawn should be kicking in by this weekend.
  20. Not sure if the mount would work or not but there is this one: http://www.***.com/Minn_Kota_Trolling_Motor_Transducer_Mount/descpage-MKTMK.html or just a replacement transducer with the proper mount: http://www.***.com/Humminbird_Trolling_Motor_Transducer/descpage-HBTRT.html
  21. Thats what you get for using the kiddie crappie rod for catching 8 lb bass
  22. There are different lines out there made of different materials. Some may be a fluoro coated line, but the CX and CXX are actually its own type called copolymer or copoly (2 or more polymers). They use the fluorescent as a color name rather than a line type., kind of like Power Pro braid green, yellow and so on. I do wish they would be a bit more clear on stating the type of line because the box usually just says Pline CX, Fluorescent clear and in small wording on the side or back does it actually state it is copoly line, so it can be easily mistaken as fluorescent or fluoro-coated mono line. The difference is that CX is a copoly, but is "fluorocarbon coated" so 2 or more polymers with a flourescent coating; whereas the CXX is just a colpoly with fluorescent as one of the polymers. Fluoroclear is almost the same as the CX, but uses a different copoly formula, and from what I have seen is not as good as CX.
  23. Time for a double rig... put the small one up front and the crank on the back so it looks like one chasing the other and may start some feeding and get a bass after your crank ;D
  24. I have more of what I coined "subdued autism", and my oldest daughter is the same way. All the same symptoms but in much lower "doses" than the normal diagnosis. It is not really ADD or ADHD as I can concentrate but sometimes there is a misfire where the information I am trying to convey or explain comes out completely off of the wall compared to how it should be explained. It also affects us worse when extreme emotions are tossed in the mix, like fights with my wife, extremely tired, and so on. The only thing that has really kept me calm and thinking straight has been smoking, I guess the calming effects of the nicotine and tobacco help counteract the symptoms. since I quit smoking a few months ago things have gotten worse that I am trying to deal with.
  25. Wow thats a dumb rule, fish eat other fish, that is nature, not the PETA modified version of nature... keep using the guts and just tell the park rangers/fish and wildlife people it is cut up chicken parts ;D
