  1. Start with what worked before. Then top, middle, bottom baits.
  2. I use the safety pins inside a plastic plano. I also keep some in my worm binder pockets.
  3. Not sure. It makes me wonder if I have had the problem and didn't notice it with braid. Maybe put a swivel up the line about 8 inches.
  4. At first I thought you were describing my home water.LOL. In the South, LMB fishing goes well in muddy water. T rigged plastics, fished slowly near structure and cover (wood and weeds/pads). Or a jig. Dark colors with glitter. I do best with trick worms or U vibe worms in Candy bug, Junebug, or other dark colors. Black and blue jigs. Hop and soak and slowly drag, twitch, etc. Repeat. If there is wind, I have good luck with spinner baits. If it is calm, try top water. I agree, they need to toughen the laws on drinking and driving. Also texting.
  5. I can't comment on the whopper. For plastics, are your hooks t rigged straight? Is there a flat side to the bait? What style weight are you using?
  6. I started my kids on bobber and worms for gills. Then moved to spoons and in line spinners. Then fly . Now plastic worms.
  7. Youtube Richard Gene the Fishing Machine. He is a good ole boy from AL who has a lot of good videos on bait fishing for bass. He mostly has videos about crappie, but he can catch fish. Funny too, if you like southern corn ball humor. I would like him better if he would quit wearing all of his @#$/^& Bama merchandise. Avoid the rush, hate the Crimson Tide early.
  8. Okuma Spinning reel, Ugly stick rod Pfluger President BC with St Croix MF rod
  9. Zoom
  10. I have mostly used them Texas rigged, and with good success. What is your favorite way to use them? Shaky, Neko, wacky, split shot, something else?
  11. I keep a set of Olsen hagar needle drivers on a lanyards around my neck. They have cutting blades, too. Just not for braid.
  12. I just got a Lucky 13. Sort of cheaply made. Changed the hooks to shorter hooks with split rings, as I do all Heddon and Arbogast lures. Thinking of copying it in wood.
  13. IMHO, ANY worm can be fished T rig, Carolina, Neko, Wacky, Dropshot, etc.--depending on the situation. Why limit your choice?
  14. I agree with his statement about a toolbox. I think in his hands a jig would be the bait. I can use a jig, but have more confidence with a worm. In my hands, the answer would be a plastic worm. For some it would be a spinnerbait. And I bet Ned would say Midwest Finesse.
  15. I did not know about them. Seems like a badly engineered gimmick, to me.
  16. Sharp hooks. Braid line. Sweep set.
  17. You're going to love braid on spinning rods. The only problem is when you get hung up.
  18. Setting the hook will become second nature. However, as stated above, rocks will cut the braid, and so will shell. Everyone talks about braid expense, but in the great scheme of things...
  19. Reliable, functional. Love my older model Supreme. I am sort of rough on gear, but this thing is a beast.
  20. I wear an auto inflatable. Never think about it, it is a habit.. I àlways check the color to make sure it is okay. I keep some of my gear fastened to it so I need it to fish.
  21. I think the saliter they are the more they sink. I believe the orIginal is what you want
  22. There are no sizes matched to weights. The larger the weight, the better it casts. The larger weight crashes through vegetation better and falls faster. The more compact the plastic, the better it casts and goes through vegetation. Now what the bass want, you have to find out. However, it is hard to tell an ineffective bait from empty water.
  23. Never used them but interesting timing as I had just bought some to try.
  24. I can't wait to show your photos to my wife. She will think I am frugal!
