  1. If you don't mind the price, Simms rain jacket. Waders
  2. I am getting a stash of older stuff. Picked up some old plugs antiquing with my wife. I always look for antique tackle/lures and tools.
  3. I hear ya. I will have only been married 24 yrs this year. Still learning.
  4. Doing my honey do list so she won't mind me going later. Don't you hate hearing, "before you go, could you..." I also reorginize my tackle and spend time at BPS, DSG, Walmart, Academy looking for deals and inspiration.
  5. Ice is something that goes in a glass. In the South this cold snap will not last, so I will wait it out until this weekend when the low is 54.
  6. Haven't used the others, but I love the Mojo rod that I use. It is my favorite.
  7. I like to use a fly rod on top when they are shallow. Anyone else?
  8. A Berkley Lightening Shock with a Pfluger or BPS reel is a good start if you just want something to try. They are good, especially for the money. Also look at Bass Pro combos. I caught a bunch on Tourney Special rods before I upgraded. Still use them. I have a St Croix Mojo Bass in your price range, that I love. I think Pfluger has a great reel for the money. So if you are looking for long term investment in a reasonable set up, I suggest St. Croix Mojo Bass MH with a Pfluger President. I think cheaper, low end reels will drive you crazy! And I recommend braid to start with, 50 lb.
  9. I have really tried to catch them platics with no glitter, with no luck and immediately started catchin on ones with glitter when I changed.. May be a confidence issue.
  10. I have some Okumas that I have caught everything from Blues in the Salt to Salmon and Bass. No issues ever. I had a low end Abu break in half just below the bail wire. I loved my Pfluger until I dumped it into the reservoir by accident.
  11. I love my Pfluger Supreme. Cannot speak to the other one. Pflugers are work horse reels.
  12. I looked back at my fishing log, such as it is, and realized I caught most of my Bass using soft plastics with glitter. Mostly Candy Bug or Junebug. I fish in murky to muddy water. Admittedly, I mostly fish with plastics with glitter. So, do you guys think the glitter catches fish or fishermen?
  13. Trick worm T rigged, Candy bug
  14. I had them warp a new plano box that was not waterproof.
  15. I guess one of my goals should be not getting strangled!
  16. Your rod is not ideal for worm fishing. It is better suited to treble hook lures, IMHO. You might do better with braid and a leader if you are currently using mono. Good luck and hang in there. Time on the water is the best teacher, but reading helps a lot. Lots of good info on this site.
  17. I have some cedar and hope to carve some. I hope mine look half that good.
  18. Fish every month. Up my fast fishing game.
  19. I like a tying station for tying while watching sports on TV. I also have a desk dedicated to it. I saw a "tv tray" with a station attached that I may try to duplicate.
  20. I love those. Kind of retro, but man, I bet they work! Love the red head one.
  21. I once had a boss who said, "the goal for you in this meeting is to still be here to be invited to the next meeting. I guess my first goal is to be here next New Years!
  22. All that you can do now is live well as he would wish for you. Remember his lessons and advice. Sorry for your loss.
  23. I am about your age and feel your pain. My Dad retired, immediately got sick, and stayed sick for 3 years until he died. There is a lot of data that many men literally die once they retire. I don't plan on fully retiring, but you never know what life will bring. Good luck. Pray for ***.
