  1. Bringing back some fond memories of my kids'childhood. Have fun.
  2. Lunker City plastics bleed colors onto each other very quickly.
  3. No slack once it hits bottom. You want constant contact.
  4. Not that danged distant. More like a first cousin, and twin brother to the fly tying monkey. You can get started with eyed screws, hooks and split rings and epoxy from Wal Mart. Paint from their model paints or craft pàint. Start with poppers. Hobby lobby has balsa.
  5. We have wonderful sponsors. I have had great service from Seiberts, love rage tail, savage gear, kast king seems to be great, etc. I appreciate their sponsotship!
  6. I posted earlier that I don't use trailers and do fine, yesterday I had nothing but short strikes. Gonna rethink my stance. Fishing!
  7. I like to go there and look at stuff, impulse buy (especially plastics) , and pick up an occasional sale item. I like some of their BPS brand stuff. I seem to be buying just as much at DSG and Academy. One of our local Walmart's kicks butt wit the fishing section. The trend I don't like is that they (bps) are pushing other brands out in favor of their own BPS brands and those are going up in price. It has got to be getting tough for brick and mortar stores. I buy most of my rod and reels and major purchases on line, which is new for me. Younger people live on the internet. My kids had some groceries delivered from Amazon on Sunday. One of my kids works from home, or a coffee shop. Times are a changing. I think BPS is looking a lot like SEARS did a few years ago. Losing relevance and trying to buy their way out. Remember k mart?
  8. As soon as I get a new boat...
  9. Ain't gonna let my wife catch me buying something from "my dailyhookup". I'd have my but in a sling.
  10. Enjoy your show, and so does my wife. Down home, regular people, no ego b.s.
  11. Thanks. I guess I will have to order some Gene Larew. Any particular worm your favorite? Thinking about the 8 inch.
  12. Does anyone know if Gene Larew camouflage and Grande Bass trophy hunter are similar colors? Hard to find locally and hard to tell online.
  13. I don't know much about shaky head, vs free swinging hooks on ball heads, vs rage rig, vs Trig. I àlways thought Shaky head was a light weight small bait , finesse deal. But people seem to use everything on them. I would like to learn your thoughts on when to use these techniquesand what baits you like.
  14. I was just trying to make a joke☺
  15. They cost a dollar at Wal Mart.
  16. Worms, man. Worms. Big worms or finesse. Something they haven't seen.
  17. Not quite sure what finesse is. Is it a bait or technique? Trying shakey head with Zoom finess worms and swamp crawlers. New to me. Had pretty good luck with Luck E Strike hook tail worms in 4 to 5 inch on down sized t rig, or swamp crawlers.
  18. If the water stays muddy and murky, those fish have adapted and have seemingly no trouble seeing a worm. And some days color makes a difference.
  19. I think color matters, but profile and action are probably more important. Part of the confusion seems that recommendations are to use bright colors in hard baits and spinners and dark baits in plastics and jigs. I fish a very muddy reservoir and fish primarily worms and some jigs. Junebug, black, black red glitter, candybug, scuppernong, black blue, and green pumpkin all work at times. Junebug and Candybug get the nod most of the time. Black and blue jigs, white spinners or white cartreuse. Bright crank baits, what little I use them. I am gonna have to try Catt's cinnamon neon junebug laminate. Catt, what brand worm is that?
  20. More water now, in the South at least. More Bass. More people. Better gear. Hard to compare because everything about being young seems better. Nostalgia doesn't equal history.
  21. Use a fast rod, no stretch line, and tungsten weight. Sharp hooks. Tex pose just under the skin of the worm. Set the hook like yanking out a tooth with a string. You want to move the end of your rod to set the hook.
  22. I live on a reservoir that some consider difficult, and it is ten times harder than where I fished when I lived in Florida. However, I can finally catch some nice Bass, most of the time if I play it right. It is seldom "easy" for me, however. I get a better sense of accomplishment on the rez than when I fish easier ponds or lakes. My advice is hang in there. I also advise a kayak ot float tube or small boat.
  23. I love the feel of a Bass hitting a T rig worm! Or a jig. Or seeing a blow up on a frog. Or fly rod popper. I love the anticipation and concentration. And I love that "gorilla in a phone booth" fight. And there are so many baits and flies to try. Figuring out their mood is a puzzle. They are one of the species that has actually benefitted from our messing with the environment.
  24. Great thread!
