  1. It gets very hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms about when I get off work. Heard that bass rods make a good lightening rod.
  2. Do you have a lure that you use that is no longer very popular? I sometimes use a creme worm pre-rigged with a prop, which I don't see a lot of people using.
  3. I had a problem with 30 lb digging in.
  4. I have both a Pfluger and Okuma. Love both. More or less interchangeable imho
  5. I mostly fish for LMB in muddy or murky water. BC 3/4 of the time or more. I use braid all of the time except with treble hooks.
  6. Some days your timing will get off and you will backlash a little, after years. Also, you will always backlash if you hit something with your bait or your bait flies off. Gonna happen. Hang in there. Great advice above.
  7. Rage swimmer is impressive, keitech is popular
  8. Call Seiberts Outdoors
  9. Beetle spin for small jigs with spinners,, Arkie jig, twister tail
  10. Depends on how much you will use it, length of average trip (time and distance), size of water you fish, how heavy you are, how coordinated, balanced and strong you are, how much gear and how many rods. What is needed for a couple hrs on a small lake or pond by an average healthy guy is very different than what is needed to fish all day in a big reservoir for an old, big guy.
  11. Trickworm seems to indicate any straight tailed medium sized worm. Beaver for flat flipping bait.
  12. Sold be Good for jigs, plastics and maybe spinnerbait1s. Maybe frogs. I would put braid on it, (50-65#) but that is just a personal opinion. Lightning rods are better than their price point, IMHO.
  13. Sometimes we refer to a technique by the name of the original or most famous lure. For instance "Rattle trap" for lipless crankbait, "Rooster tail" for in-line spinnerbait, "spook" for walk the dog type bait. Can you think of others? May vary by geographic area.
  14. Old military policy at our house: don't ask, don't tell. She buys plants and other stuff. We have total freedom with our discretionary "allowances."
  15. I still use them, however I use standard offset more, aND don't rember why I switched.. I only use EWG for thick plastics. Tru turn gives a solid hookset. Thanks for posting this. Reminded me how much I like them.
  16. I have a M BC also, that is rated for jerkbaits with 14 lb mono. Perhaps that would be a better setup?
  17. We should be concerned. PETA types are against fishing and hunting and they are organized. Fortunately (FOR FISHERMEN)they focus on research and agriculture. I don't understand why I enjoy bass fishing but find crappie boring.
  18. I have mostly fished plastics on a 6'6" MH BC with 65 lb pp braid from a kayak. I have used the same set up with a spinnerbait and it feels a little off. What do you guys recommend for spinner baits?
  19. I brought this up last year and got a lot of differing opinions. The consensus was yeah, but... I don't tourney fish. I fish mainly plastics (90% T rig), jigs and spinners. I am pretty good with those. Other baits I don't like as much. I love frogs but miss a lot of fish. Hate treble hooks.
  20. I am a braid guy, when jit comes to single hook baits. Tried Mono, Fluro, and Hybrid, keep coming back to braid. For treble hook baits, I am still experimenting because I rarely use them.
  21. I fish weightless plastics on a M St Croix Mojo Casting rod. LOVE IT
  22. I am more blue collar than some, except with fly fishing. Some of it is old and clunky by today's standards, but this ain't a fashion show. BC reel: Pfluger and my old Bass Pro Viper (workhorse) BC rods: St Croix, BPS Tourney Special, Lamiglass, Daiwa, American Rodsmith, Ozark Spinning Reel: Pfluger, Okuma Spinning Rod: Ugly Stick!, BPS Tourney special, Okuma, Shimano (for salt)and I have a Fenwick travel rod that I am wildly inaccurate with Fly reel: Pfluger, Hardy, Okuma, Orvis, Ross Fly Rods: St Croix, Sage, Lamiglass, Loomis Overall, St Croix and Pfluger are my favorite brands with Okuma right up there.
  23. If you want to go fishing, just start acting romantic and 4 out of 5 times she'll send you fishing.
