This will be a very unpopular suggestion but…quit using Senkos and neds. Those 2 baits account for the majority of gut hooked fish. One of the biggest reasons I almost never use them.
Welcome! I'm right near you in Alexandria. Haven't done as much fishing down here as I'd like (but from what I can tell, it's not great). The Occoquan Res. is the best I've found. Check it out if get a chance!
Well it finally happened. For a long time, I told myself I didn't need to go this high end (I still don't) but with the exchange rate being favorable I thought I deserved a gift to myself for starting a new job. Unfortunately for my wallet, this won't be the last..
I'm having a hard time choosing right now. Always wanted a Met but couldn't justify the $$. I can def do $260 but I'm worried about the aluminum gears. I also want a Scorpion DC which is right around $235. Ugh decisions decisions.
I've only owned one kayak, the Big Fish 105 that I currently have. Doesn't paddle great but it's super stable and standing is really easy. I thought it was a great deal at $700 when I bought it 2 yrs ago. I wouldn't pay the $900+ they're asking now.
Yes. 3rd saturday in June for the St. Lawrence area. Champlain opens a week earlier but also has an open C&R season on bass beforehand. Champlain would be my choice.
I’ve also been looking at the portable tool storage systems for tackle. We spend an obnoxious amount of money on lures and tackle yet store it all in lightweight Plano type boxes and soft bags. The tool systems offer such better protection and don’t cost much more (if at all).
I’m just assuming it’s still a bit too early for any kinda decent bite. It’ll just be nice to actually get a line wet! It should hold me over until I head up to NY in a few weeks…that’s when the fun really begins;) Thanks for the heads up about the depth!
I think I’ll give it a go tomorrow. I was thinking about checking out Little hunting creek but I’m a fairly beginner-yakker. I don’t particularly wanna mess around on the Potomac when the water is likely sub-50.
Ouch. I don't think that's true. Yes, vanish is/was not the greatest fluoro but 100% is nothing like it. It's served me well over the last several years...saved me a lot of money and made me a lot of money.
Not sure why the 100% gets no love. I stock up every time BPS does the bogo sale. I find that it fishes pretty much the same as Sniper, Assassin, and Tactical. Def not as much stretch as invisx. It’s really strong stuff and holds knots great.
I like glass or composite for almost any moving bait presentation, especially bladed jigs. I may even slap some braid on toss around the swimjig with one of my composites. No biggie if your hooks are sharp!
Great to hear! I have the 7'4 Legend glass and haven't found a better crankin stick. It's awesome. I was looking at either the 6'10 m or the 7'2 m Mojo for the exact baits you're tossin. I figured since I only throw small cranks in limited circumstances, I didn't need to throw down another $270 on a crankin stick. How are the guides? Are they fairly large?
I think the Dakotas are made in the USA. I've done a little research. Enough to know you need a lithium-specific charger for them. The Tracker lithiums can be replaced through Bass Pro if you get a defective one (based off a review I read).
