  1. Thanks bud, those look pretty good! Gonna send you a pm.... Anyone else 168 views no one....??? Ttt
  2. Was wondering if anyone here pours or knows someone who pours bigger shakey heads with good hooks. Looking for 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, and 1oz sizes. Ball or football head similar to strike designs/ bait keeper. Not a big fan of the screw lock.
  3. It all depends. I have mixed green pumpkin jigs with black n blue trailers, and vice versa. PB&J with green Pumpkin trailers. Mix and match for sure as long as it goes together if that makes sense lol.
  4. From what I hear the newer wiggle warts aren’t as good as the oldies. You can still find some for around $60+ a piece! For where you are I like the Strike King series 3 XD in any of the craw patterns.
  5. Personally I can't speak on the other 2 brands listed, but the Denali Kovert 7'2 mh IS MY go to rod. In fact most tournaments I fish I can't take 6 of those and cover most of the techniques that I utilize. Great customer service and quick shipping. Very durable too. I beat the crap out of mine ??.
  6. I have fished with both, know a lot of guys on both pro staffs. I like Denali and have a bunch of koverts. I like the way they fish, and they are very durable. I have seen guys use other "lighter" more expensive brands band them on side of the boat landing fish and snap em in half on the next couple cast.
  7. Kanzen is a 4 strand braid so it's going to be course as that's what it's made for to cut through vegetation and cover smackdown is an 8 strand braid and is like silk almost in lighter lb test. I use it on my spinning rods and swim jig rods.
  8. I like seaguar a bunch haven't had any problems with it. I mostly use invizx but when money is tight red label gets the nod. I've never tried sunline floro. But seaguar is gold in my book
  9. Have you checked out the Revo "Beast"?
  10. I use a Denali kovert 6'10 cranking Rod. It depends on what I'm doing as far as the rest of my set up goes, but more than often I'm using an stx 6.4:1 with 15 lb test or higher. I'll go faster ratios with traps. I'll go lighter line with jerk baits. As low as 8 lb test.
  11. Doesn't hurt at all. I do it to all my reels. Some go most of the season with the same backing. Saves money. Some people prefer certain lines for backing. Think I heard Aaron martens says he uses braid as backing, something about the line coming off the spool faster during the cast.
  12. Honestly you can't go wrong with the Denali J2. That's a lot of rod for the money. I have 4 all dedicated may/punching rods. I have yanked some fish out of some pretty nasty stuff on toho and kississimmee. My fav and go to is the 7'8 kovert series flipping stick. I punch and throw magnum swimbaits on it. Best of all their customer service is top notch and that's huge for me.
  13. Well with the rods you mention, it seems like you want to stay in the $100 price point which is understandable. ....the Denali J2 (jadewoods) got a face lift...higher quality components were added and the price point stayed the same! A 7' mh Jadewood would be a great choice. ..since you are wanting to cover a range of techniques im guessing a fast tip will be sufficient.
  14. X's 2 on Denali cant go wrong with price and quality
  15. What technique will you be using the reel for?
  16. Seaguar invizx or red label
  17. Yea def go up in diameter and use the 20 for spinning tackle. 8 strand braid in the bigger sizes shouldnt dig too bad. Next time out make your longest cast pull off another 20' and put some tape on the spool till you really get the hang of it...when casting with braid I normally use 50# seaguar smackdown with topwaters and swimjigs....
  18. Personally I throw all my deep divers on a 7'6 denali kovert mh mod, they also have a J2 series same length and action for a little less money. Both are good sticks...
  19. I have been experimenting with 20# seaguar smackdown which is an 8 strand braid. I did get 1 wind knot fish in 15-20 mph wind all day. But the advantages and senstivity far out weigh theone knot. used 8 lb backing maybe 15 yds. And filled a abu garcia sx spinning reel 30 series with 150 yds of smack down and run about a 6.5 ft 8 lb Invizx leader.
  20. I run 20# seaguar smackdown braid on my spinning set up. I have my drag set farily loose as well. My hookset is simply a fast reel to load the rod and then a lean. Not a snap or drop slack to em just simply reel set em. You will me surprised at how easy it is to hook fish this way due to.the non stretch of braid. Also the seaguar smack down is an 8 strand braid so it is much much quiter and it is easier on the guides that 4 strand braid.
  21. Iike the strike king rage tail menace and the rodent for punching mats.
  22. For all co-anglers check out this web-site, fishingtheback.com. Its just for the co-angler and several Touring co's write articles including myself have one coming soon. They cover different techinques, presentations, and how to be successful in the back of the boat.
  23. Alberto, or Albright. Make sure you do 8 wraps either way and you will never have problems with slippage.
  24. Smackdown is great! The reason it is so smooth is bc it is an 8 strand braid which makes it much quiter and smoother. I like it especially for casting techniques. I like the kanzen for flipping.
