  1. Interesting. I can't seem to find a leader board anywhere. I thought the weigh in was at 5:30?
  2. With the water temp these guys are fishing, to catch fish they must fish slow. Time managment will be a vital key.
  3. I use 15 lb. floroclear for jigging. The diameter is 0.36mm. Practically invisible, casts as far as i ever needed it to, with incredible strength.
  4. Kistler- magnesium TS, MH, 6'10" cast- line wt. 12-17 lb.- lure wt. 1/4-3/4 oz. (MgAJFHJMH610) perfectly balanced, good backbone, very sensitive. This is an Alton Jones 'football jig' signature model.
  5. I believe bowfin have visable teeth when the mouth is closed. If that helps..?

    Giant!

Anyone know the bait and tackle used for this monster?
  7. I'm not a drinker, but if i were, two scenarios when i wouldn't drink would be operating a boat or truck/car.
  8. I have the same cranking stick. Purchased a few months ago, yet to use it. I do like the fast tip, and the glass blank. I actually like the colors also.
  9. If i told the wife she'd get a $1000 gift card for Macy's with every bass she catches over nine pounds, you'd have never heard of Kevin Van Dam.
  10. How about an eight to ten inch lizard. Scare those huge females into protecting the bed mode. Texas rig or weightless both work.
  11. 65 lb. Spiderwire Stealth braid. This line can be had in a 125 yard spool at a good price. (good as far as a braided line goes)
  12. Over the years, anytime i ever heard Fenwick rods mentioned, it was never a negative. I went to purchase the same rod online at a great price and in checking out, they didn't have any left!
  13. Floro is ideal for wacky worm fishing. Six pound is excellent for clear water. Perhaps ten lb. in and around heavy cover. I can't see any advantage to the braid, i know price certainly isn't an advantage!?
  14. Look at an Ugly stick. Sixty bucks is right in thier range. They make plenty of heavy, 6'9 to 7'2 that's perfect for froggin'.
  15. I prefer Daiwa's salt water rods to thier freshwater. That said, it's all subjective, just mo. I don't know the price of that Diawa, but i just got a new jig rod made by Kistler. An Alton Jones magnesium jig special. 6' 10" casting, fast action, medium heavy power. Fuji blank, exposed reel seat, Fuji hardloy guides. A wonderfully balanced stick. I bet you could even toss medium sized swim baits with it. It cost somewhere around $109. Good luck in your search.
  16. My only experience regarding the three you mentioned, are with the Shimano. I have used the 'compre' (owned by a friend) which is a crankbait set up. A wonderful feel and much backbone. Good luck!
  17. Deep? i like jig&pig.
  18. I can't suggest a good worm rod when you paid $16 for the Diawa.
  19. Suffix makes a good (and $$) braid.
  20. Dwight? How much helium did you pump into that fish!? (avatar pic)
  21. I like a snelled hook for something similar to a Yum dinger, yes. I also like to use snelled when trolling a crank for walleye, and the above mentioned salmon.
  22. I'm of the opinion that it's hard to go wrong with Yamaha, Tahatsu, Mercury, Honda and perhaps a few more. My research led me to get a Honda 20hp 4 stroke. Like you, the research was conducted by asking mechanics, experienced boaters, etc. This forum will help you decide, as we have lots of experience on this subject. Part of what set my mind on Honda was it's warranty. Good luck!
  23. I have different lines available, mono, floro, braid to cut into 18" pieces for snelling the hooks to. I was wondering what type line is best, if there are any advantages.
  24. Not talking from experience here, although a friend, an excellent fisherman, has sworn off BPS hooks. Gammy's have never let me down.
  25. I'm about to snell a dozen or so gammy hooks, when i realised i have quite a few different options here for leader material. I'm making about an 18", and have braid, floro, mono, and polymers as options. Which to use and why? Thanks! (a large percentage of these hooks will be used with live baits. Shiners, minnows, nightcrawlers, etc.)
