  1. Hey guys, I was wondering what some you guys with smaller boats did for rod storage? My rod locker will hold as many rods as I would ever need to put in there, but I want a way to secure the 3 or 4 rods I'm constantly using that aren't in the locker. My Procraft is 16.5' long and I'm having trouble finding a place/way to put them. Here's a picture of the interior. As you can see from the picture, the back deck is a good deal taller than the front, making it hard to store rods going from front to back. Any ideas?
  2. 4 words... Abu Garcia for life.
  3. Guess I'm the only one that thinks no way does that fish hit 5 pounds. It's also being held closer to the camera, making it look bigger. 3.5 - 4 lbs.
  4. This could be one of the best threads on the site. Great topic. Also, great to hear from other ladies. This season will be year number 2 of 'training' the girlfriend on a baitcaster. She loves to fish from the bank, but like Bassn Blvd said, gettin' her on the boat is the tough part. It takes a lot of reassuring. 'Honey, I swear I wont go fast.'
  5. Yeah, I understand the budget issue. The '12 is definately goin' to be hard. I had a 14' jon with a full deck but it just wasnt big enough. Now I'm in an '87 17' Pro Craft. I think with all the work we've done were still in it around $2,000. But we got lucky and had a lot of mechanic work on the motor done free of charge. $700 is not a very flexible budget to work with though for sure. Of course, I don't have a wife to deal with though.
  6. JD, good luck with the boat. I am from Lexington as well! Good to see another on here.
  7. What if we consider ourself a pro? ;D

  9. Nick I think you are right I found the same stuff. Anyone ever dealt with Aqua Superstore? They have relatively the same low prices. $31.99 for the vengeance. And $50 for the vendetta. They look much more promising.
  10. Well my question was more what size/speed/ etc rod for different bait applications. I need a spinner bait rod, shallow crank, deep crank, worm, and topwater rod. I want to narrow it down to 4 setups to cover it all. Just don't really know where to start because like I said, in the past I've just kind of used whatever rod I wanted, ignorant to what size and speed were the most effecient.
  11. I haven't decided on size and action yet but I plan on a vengeance and a vendetta. For $30 bucks I'll take a chance on the vengeance.
  12. Most of the vendettas are on backorder but the vengeance is not. http://www.midwesthuntersoutlet.com/item.aspx?PID=176141&w=PQ%2BJDyOLrQE%3D

  14. That after much searching I found an online store in AMERICA that is selling Vendettas for $47 and Vengeances for $29?
  15. Right now I have no rods with a known tip speed. But, I have found some vendettas pretty cheap and was thinking about getting some. What rod speeds/actions would you recommend for these standard fishing tecniques?
  16. I feel comfortable with any crankbait on the market as long as it says 'Norman' on the package.
  17. Until last season, I never really focused too much on what size/action rod to use with what lure. I usually matched a reel up and then threw it on whatever rod I wanted. I'm wondering the size and action you guys use for different lures. Spinnerbaits, small shallow cranks, large deep cranks, jigs, worms, and topwater. I don't fish with expensive high-end rods so my choices are pretty limited to 6'0", 6'6", and 7'0" - M, MH, or H. Thanks
  18. Also, what kind of setups are you guys using to throw these?
  19. Yes I know there is one right underneath me, but I have some more questions. I've never thrown one. And really never thought about it until reading some of these threads. Am I missing out on something? 80% of all my fishing is done with a crankbait. I'm a firm believer that a certain size, speed, wiggle, color, and presentation of a crankbait can consistently catch bass 365 days a year. But what kind of conditions make these swimbaits a good choice? I fish lakes throughout Kentucky and remember reading articles about the swimbait starting as a West coast deal and working its way east. Is there something to be gained with swimbaits in the upper south east? Just looking for ideas on conditions, seasons, and presentations that are best for swimbaits.
  20. Ahhhh.... The sound of a jitterbug... 8-)
  21. I agree with Shane. I've owned two half ton Silverados, half ton Ford, and Powerstrokes. But NONE of those trucks even come close to my Dodge Crew Cab Hemi. #1 fishin' vehicle hands down. I never thought I would say that, but I also never had drove one. The thing is huge, has twice as much storage, with built in compartments everywhere, huge gears for towing, and the Hemi engine is not even close to the 350, 5.4 Triton, or all the Powerstrokes we've owned. Oteymc is exactly correct. I had injector, glow plug, and gasket problems with my 6.0. The and 7.3 couldn't hold a transmission longer than a year. They were AWFUL. Plus the Ford dealers are the nasty, slimiest, dirtiest dealers of them all. I'll never own a Ford again. Or a Chevy. Obviously my Hemi's not a diesel, but I'd choose it over anything but a Cummins. I've gone through Chevy's and Ford's and am only satisfied now with a Dodge.
  22. fishfordollars, post a picture of that beast!
  23. I sent y'all PMs. Sorry, didn't want to post a link and promote a non sponsor company.
