I was recently fishing in a river near by my place of residence, and I could not believe the amount of weeds. I was fishing from my kayak, so I was right on the water, and I've never seen weeds so thick. Looked like milfoil to me... Anyway, fish live in weeds, but I could'nt see how it was possible for my lure to get in there, let alone a bass large enough to be worth catching. So, am I correct? The fish are in there just work the edge, or is it possible that the weeds are just to thick?

LMB will out compete at SMB for food every single time. If you put SMB in a body of water with LMB, the LMB win. Not to say they can't co-habitate, but the LMB will win.

Where is that pond? That is like my dream come true. I would throw a stanley ribbit frog for the rest of my life if I could....

I love braid. I honestly don't know how I fished with mono. I'll never go back. EVERRRRR That being said, the sound of the braid coming over the guides kind of drives me nuts. Is there any way to mitigate that noise? Please don't tell me switch to mono, because I won't do it. I just won't do it. Thanks!!

I came here because I know you guys will be able to help me, or at least point me in the right direction. I am not a mechanically inclined human, so the inside of my reel is a daunting thing. I am sick of buying new reels. I want this one to last, but not sure how to make that happen. Does anyone on here know of a good video, or STEP BY STEP guide to tearing down a Pflueger President spinning reel? I need something that will tell me EXACTLY where to put oil or grease. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I love the president; I think it's a great reel for the cash...I just am sick of buying them ever couple of years. Oh, and some info: I fish often. Like at least three times a week. Thanks!!

I've "tried" them both. They are not the potomac. Any idea on the temp out there?

Just wondering if any of you guys have been on the Potomac lately. I love to wade it, but live in Towson. Long drive for me to find out the water is only 55 degrees. I check the levels at point of rocks, so I know what the depth is, but no where to find the temp. Any info would be great!

Loch Raven is an amazing fishery. I live about three minutes away from the reservoir. I'm there all the time. You are not permitted to fish from the Loch Raven Drive bridge to the dam. It's a shame, but it's the rule. Otherwise, the entire shoreline is yours. Some places get slammed, but if you're willing to walk, you can find some quiet spots. The places listed previously are a great starting point. I would say park where you're allowed to park, and just walk till you see water. There are fish everywhere in that water.

Hello my neighbors to the North. I, like most of you I would assume, am primarily a bass fisher. Be that as it may, I and my family are going on vacation to Avalon NJ this summer (mid June). We are all excited of course. I am wondering if anyone has any insight they'd like to share with me when it comes to fishing the inlet at Avalon and Stone Harbor. I'm not looking for anyones honey hole, but I'll take what I can get. I'm intrigued by the idea of catching a fish I won't recognize. Any help would be AWESOME! If I can help with any info down this way, (Maryland), I'd be more than happy to do so. Thanks.

For Baltimore County: Loch Raven is LOADED with fish. The springtime is lights out there...until the weeds come in. The grass grows VERY VERY VERY thick there. Fishing from shore is just about impossible once it comes in. You really need a boat, or rent one. The bay is right next to you, I would fish that. Dundee creek is an amazing fishery, as is the Gunpowder. Also, the flats and the Susquehanna are not far from you either.

I fish ONLY from my kayak. I have a sit in boat (Old Town Predator K11). I have a milk crate behind me that holds two poles, and the battery to my depth finder, as well as my snacks/drinks, and whatever tackle I want to bring. I put a couple of plano boxes inbetween my legs for hard stuff, and I have ziplock bags for soft stuff. You don't need EVERYTHING. So don't bring it. Just gets in the way.

Howdy guys. I grew up down in Dutchess county (Amenia). I live outside of Baltimore MD now. I'm going to near Croghan for vacation w/ my family. My father-in-law is big into trout fishing, and I don't mind it, but I want to fish for bass. I'd love ANY kind of help on a good spot to fish for bass. I'm willing to drag my yak for a long while to get to a nice secluded place. Having so many people down here CRUSHING the fish, I've been dreaming of a pond with no people around for miles. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks guys!

Pickeral/Pike will go after anything you throw for bass. I second the previous comment. They're awesome to catch until you have to get them off the hook.

Hi all. I do the majority of my fishing in a pretty clear reservoir....like five feet of visibility at least. I fish in a river often, but it's the upper Potomac, and the water there is pretty clear as well, and rather shallow. I found a new river to fish, and the water (comparatively) is really stained. I'm afraid to throw soft plastics, because I don't know how the fish will see them. Is this nonsense? Should I be pitching space monkeys into lay downs just like I would at my reservoir? Any kind of advice to deal with the stained water would be gladly accepted!
