  1. Odd, I have *never* experienced losing a fish on these due to the weedguard. That said, there is a reason I tie my own, I think they perform better. I'd agree with you that the "original" guard is not very good. They do get a lot of debris as well as they can move around after a lot of use.
  2. I use a MinnKota C2 30, modeled similarly to how BassYaks does their kits. Some pix below, and it's since been modded some more. There are now a TON of YouTube vids on DIY trolling motor on kayaks. I did mine before a lot of these folks did. There are some inventive mods out there. As for car topping these, you just take the motor off and top it. I've done it with my Native U12, though I mostly use a truck. Craigslist is a great place to find used peddle yaks.
  3. How about price range? You can go from $300 to thousands. Peddle yaks start around $1500. FWIW, I use a trolling motor on mine steer-controlled by my feet. Makes fishing SO much easier in windy conditions, and in general. Reverse is something I make massive use of, so if I were in the market for a peddle yak, I'd have to have reverse. That means something with a drive system like Native's Propel, or Hobie's 180 drive.
  4. Yes I fish them. Prefer to buy the 25 packs and make my own weed guards. Sizes anywhere from #4 to 2/0, with the larger being used on worms 6" and up. They work fine with 4 and 5" as well. For me the sweet spot is #1 and 1/0. I primarily throw 4" senkos wacky rigged.
  5. Welcome aboard, Elijah!
  6. A little more detail needed. What's your height? Are you a big fella? How about price range? Reason I ask size questions, for some a 10' yak is a great size, others may need something 12-14' with greater buoyancy, etc.
  7. Dang! I bought some frogs from DSG on clearance/sale. Not caught on them yet, but no where near $200 bills. That said, I came home with 5 frogs.
  8. Welcome aboard, Zach!
  9. Hmmm. I, too, have a hybrid. I came from a 15, or was it 16' Grumman aluminum canoe. I MUCH prefer my Native Ultimate 12, exception being I cannot take another person or two with me. My hybrid is much more stable. I made pontoons for the canoe, which definitely helped. But I just prefer the kayak.
  10. Welcome aboard, Josh!
  11. Welcome aboard!
  12. Welcome aboard, Alvin! Many of us have used it for years (tho I haven't for the past 1.5) regularly. There are many discussions of the product on the forums, but I've not heard whether it is toxic to fish or not. Personally I've released many fish after catching on JJ's magic stained baits. Never saw one come floating back up after fishing... Not that that means anything, but ....
  13. Welcome aboard, @Shortstak1124. It is unfortunate you have this problem, but best to take it up with Bass Pro Shops. I have ordered rods from them, usually ship-to-store, and never experienced your issue. As well, BassResource frowns upon posts bashing retailers. From the FAQ: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/guidelines/ I have a dispute with 'company X'. Can I post about it here? While we can empathize with your frustration, the best course of action is deal directly with the company. Escalate it up the ladder, file a grievance with PayPal or Ebay (if they were involved with the transaction). File a mail fraud complaint with the post office. There are other options, but attacking the company in a public forum is not appropriate nor allowed. Such posts will be removed.
  14. Just don't kill your dog when you realize it's licking your face during your nightmare
  15. Grammar Nazi among us. Oi.... Actually, it should now read "@J Francho, @Gundog, and me are technical like that."
  16. I'm still on V1 of PP SS8, gonna be for a while given the 1500 yard spool. But it is nice to see a detailed review like this.
  17. @J Francho and I are technical like that. Like this
  18. Whatever you find, be wise and ALWAYS wear a quality PFD. You can top it with stuff like these:
  19. I've had mixed results using tubes where you/I fish. I have caught bass, crappie, pickerel there. I like the Gitzit tubes, but they're not weedless. I'm looking at doing the TX rig thing with some SK tubes I've had for years, sitting in a box, unused. Actually did a major change for tackle storage (back to boxes) and made a box with those tubes. Plan to try use them this year.
  20. Whatever the case, I'd also burn the house down if that spider got loose, LOL.
  21. I always thought they were different species. Similar by all accounts, but different. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_opossum https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_opossum https://www.livescience.com/56182-opossum-facts.html "There are more than 60 species of opossum. The species that many people think of when hearing about this animal is the common opossum, also known as Virginia opossum. However, these are two different species. The common opossum's scientific name is Didelphis marsupialis, and the Virginia opossum's scientific name is Didelphis virginiana."
  22. Key words: AMAZON Rainforest. Not the possums we have here. Not the spiders we have here. No need to.... No need to.... Worrrrryyyyy.
