  1. Went to one of our local Walmart's tonight, some clearance items, but nothing the likes of what you guys are seeing. However, I did note that they're now stocking VMC drop shot hooks with the integrated tag end holder. Believe they were $3.96 for a 6 pack.
  2. Braid for mainline Leader can be any other line of mono, copoly, fluorocarbon. If you're limited on number of setups, this can be an awesome way around it.
  3. Just got my Classic post card with member rewards, etc., in the mail yesterday. Yippee ki-yay! x4 points on Abu or Penn purchases, double points on all purchases at the Friday 22 Feb event
  4. Pretty much the same here. Sports, sports reporters, teams, etc.
  5. I've got some original in 10lb test on one of my spinning rods. Not a fan, but using it because it was expensive enough and isn't "bad" and in need of a respool just yet. Simply prefer regular braid, in the form of Power Pro.
  6. I think this year I'm more keen on terminal tackle sales since I've already bought a Lexa 100, and I just scored a Premier at DSG for ~$50 to pair with it!!! I had to do like the commercial with my son who was with me: "Don't tell your mom" So I really can't justify any "big" purchases this year. Unless I find an Avid down to $100...
  7. x2
  8. Sweet, well done!
  9. Congrats. Wish we had smallies down here. Have to travel north for em.
  10. Hard to argue there. Probably the greatest assemblage of hoops talent ever....
  11. I made the same decision a while back. Power Pro is my choice.
  12. Here ya go! http://www.watchtheoutdoors.com/channels/fishing.php
  13. Wow, sweet deal! Was just in one of our local Walmart, saw nothing of the sort. Might have to check back.
  14. Ditto! And at least you're connected to the world still as you're able to post.
  15. So THAT's where my money's been disappearing! A-B-so-freakin'-lutely. Down here in VA Allstate decided to charge us 5% of the total value of our home as a deductible. If a tree fell on the house, I'm on the hook to repair the room, roof, etc. I don't happen to be in a flood zone, so I talked to State Farm and they said a simple $1000 deductible is all for house damage in a named storm, etc. Needless to say, I left Allstate post-haste, and am now with State Farm.
  16. Hi Wesley, welcome to the forums!
  17. Welcome!
  18. You bet I'd keep it if I were you! Fantastic rod for a lot of techniques. Agree with the Stradic comment from Jig Meister.
  19. I do this, too. Just the other day I picked up 20 lb yellow PP for my Lexa which had new 40 lb green PP spooled on it for striper fishing. simply put the Lexa in free spool, took my Accurist and spooled the 40 off the Lexa onto it. Money saver, for sure.
  20. While I haven't used daichii I have heard good things. I think I'll probably try out the Hayabusa hooks....
  21. I can certainly appreciate where you are coming from. That's a good breakdown. While I stated reel as my pref, I don't discount the importance of the rod. I also have Ugly Stiks to Compres and now a Premier. There's a pretty big difference in feel there which plays a big part in fishing vs catching.
  22. That's good to know, Tom. Thanks for the feedback.
  23. Thanks, man. It's been a bit modified since then. The Motorguide bit the dust and I replaced it with a Minn Kota. A good change, too as the Kota is much lighter. Also didn't have my fishing crate in the pic. I control the motor with my feet (turning) via the foot pedals, and built a switch box which sits at my left hand allowing me an almost hands-free trolling experience. Works like a champ. You'll love the yak experience. Just be sure to give your elbows a break now and then...that's partly why I have the trolling motor.
  24. Never tried it. All I've read is the marketing material. But I did buy glow-in-the-dark Senkos from overstockbait.com over the holidays. Tried them once, didn't catch a thing (on any bait) that day. Perhaps when the waters warm, things will change.
  25. Wow! That's an awesome-sounding pond. You're very fortunate to have a place like that.
