  6. These days are certainly different. Now that I work at a Lowe's, having lost my job (internet stuff), I see so much that leaves me scratching my head. Prior to my internet job I was an IT manager for a large telecom out of Rochester, NY. Prior to that I was a desktop support guy and learned a *ton* about customer service. So it's ingrained into my thinking and acting with customers. At Lowe's I put my best foot forward, try to never leave a customer hanging/waiting for a resolution. There are some that appreciate that, and some who could give a rat's flaming yahoo about me and my smile. They just want the dang product now and don't care what I have to do to produce it. No smiles from them, no niceties, no cordiality. Like @slonezp's comment, one never knows what that person (nor they me) have been through. Like the Indian proverb, walk a mile in their moccassins before judging them. Oi, that was butchered, but you get the point. I guess my point is, perspective is everything. And it ain't always easy to have it from their point of view especially when they are anti-social in dealing with you. Your observations are definitely not lost on us here. If only they knew the "face" they were displaying of their respective companies to you, the customer.....

  13. Yellow PP or PP Super Slick on all my reels, and leaders always. Materials? Take your pick. I like Yo Zuri Hybrid, Gamma Edge FC, and others. Typically 6, 8, or 10lb test, but have gone down to 4# and up to 15#. As @Team9nine said, find a connector knot that you can tie consistently, easily. Knot arguments can sometimes rival religious arguments for intensity, LOL. Personally, I tie uni-to-uni most of the time, and the Alberto/Mod'd Albright the rest. As long as you have considered your kit (rod, reel, drag, line type, etc.) you should be able to handle any freshwater fish.
  14. Welcome aboard, Matt!
  15. I do not have the FL. Have 2 FI, 1 FJ, 1 FK, and 1 CI4+ Hear great things about the FL, tho. Don't think I'll be buying any new models for the foreseeable future.
  16. I've got several 1000 Stradics that I use for bass fishing, even striper fishing. Some consider it an ultralight, not me, it's just a work horse reel that's small, light. Have pulled in dozens of bass up to (and over) 6 pounds (incl. the one in my avatar) using 1000 Stradics. That particular bass was caught in a shallow stump field with a 1000 paired with a 5'9" Shimano Compre M power, 10# braid. I think the leader was 8 or 10#. Agree with others concerning line diameter. To me the entire kit (rod, reel, lure) determines your casting distance. I.e., you'll get more whip from the rod if it's a UL, and can propel lighter baits further than using ML or M rods (and determining the rod power).
  17. Welcome aboard! You can throw any plastic on a spinning rod (of various power), and you can also throw plastics of varying weight on a baitcasting setup. I personally prefer spinning having experimented with both, but can throw many plastics just fine on my baitcaster. It really boils down to you and your proficiency with said equipment. Practice is key with baitcasting. On the water is different than in your back yard in the sense of wind, boat/kayak, etc. Spinning gear is more forgiving. But precision is in the hands of the holder, whether it be spinning or baitcasting. Many of us are precise in both, or in one or the other. Your skill will be linked to your practice and comfort with whatever you choose. Good luck!!
  18. What Hobie are you talking about? As well, how high do you want the seat mounted, as stability would be a potential issue depending on how you plan on mounting it. One of the Bass Pro models had a swivel seat setup, not sure they sell it anymore.
  19. Welcome aboard, Rob!
