  1. i'd go with the Pro. Reasons you outlined, lighter, higher gear ratio, enough to go up. Personally, I actually prefer an underspin reel like the Abu 276U
  2. What everybody said. It's good stuff, protects cork, keeps it looking good, etc...
  3. May he continue speedy recovery!
  4. Holy cow! That bluegill is a BEAST!
  5. Yep. See, you can trust *whatEVER* we tell you....
  6. Welcome aboard!
  7. That's pretty cool!
  8. A formal welcome aboard, Goose!
  9. But some would argue that you get more heft with your left.
  10. It's all good. We're just having fun with the topic
  11. Elf Nat Lampoon's Christmas Vacation And technically not Christmas, rather Thanksgiving: Planes, Trains & Automobiles. Geez, one more for the crazy among us: Ernest Saves Christmas
  12. Dang it. There goes my posts for the rest of December... Sheesh. My question today was gonna be: "if you only had one hand to fish with, which would it be?"
  13. Welcome aboard!
  14. I'm all for a kayak. But I'm biased, LOL.
  15. They're in most reservoirs and lake systems that I have fished in SE VA. I don't target them, but when I catch them, I get stuck by their fins almost every time.
  16. No doubt the Pack didn't play up to standards. Neither did Payton last week.... What caused the bad play? Just a bad day, or smothering D everywhere you looked to throw? One didn't necessarily cause the other, but D sure was major part of the equation. We'll see if the Bills D can hold off the Brady Bunch in 2 weeks. Problem is it is in NE... Again, I just can't see *ANY* team beating the Pats all the way to the Lombardi Trophy. Tom will hold it one more time. I just want the Bills playoff drought to end. Longest drought in the NFL.
  17. Considering how the Bills D held two of the league's best QBs to zero TDs two weeks in a row ... Solid defensive playing from the Bills. Wish their O was as good.... Unfortunately the game wasn't on TV in my area, so I relied upon iPhone apps to keep me updated.... I only saw A-Rodg play in a few clips. He was clearly rattled by the smothering D. Hard to play with that type of defensive blanket.

I'll say watermelon magic, green pumpkin magic are great, as is a laminate watermelon/orange.
  19. Buffalo Bills Yankees (when and if I watch baseball) Lakers, Spurs, Golden State, Cavs Man United, Chelsea, etc.... All the tennis majors
  20. Very cool idea!!
  21. Like Ty said, 80mm. I have actually gone back to my stock handle on the one I had a swept 102mm Hawg on it...
  22. Wow, I agree with RW, 50 mono is overkill. You could catch tuna with that setup, LOL. I find the best for me - and keeping the slimmest possible knot - is from 8-12 wraps up, and 4-5 back down. Similar to the video. I'm also using 10 and 20 lb braid with anywhere from a 6-15 lb leader. And I will use glue from time to time. I just picked up some Zap-A-Gap glue to keep with me for various reasons. If I recall, Knot Wars found they had better success with about half the wraps back down the knot as they did otherwise. YMMV
  23. That looks like a fine starter kayak jiggz. I started with a Pelican yak from a big box store and it was serviceable - still is, for my sons now. I'm about your height, though, unfortunately, a bit heavier... My yak was a 10', and I liked it for maneuverability. What I found is that I wanted to stand and fish, so I built pontoons, but that didn't help much as the yak wasn't made for standing. All that said, extra $ is well spent on a good, quality paddle. Your arms will thank you later. As well, a good quality PFD, and wear it all the time - no matter what. Too many people have drowned falling out of a boat for whatever reason. You might have to add another $75-100 to get both the paddle and PFD. At the very least, try to get a fiberglass paddle. If you can go up to a carbon model, even lighter.
  24. So we're basically talking the Ned Rig here. Videos I've watched explain why Z-Man's baits work best, simply because they last, and seem to have great movement. I tried a portion of a 5" BPS Stik-O and was not impressed with how it moved on the jig in relation to how the ZinkerZ and TRDs move...
  25. My favorite page to stare at but not buy from...yet.
