  1. We like skiing especially during the winter olympics. Yes, planning on watching the PB tonight! GO AFC!!
  2. I've watched a few times, got 4 boys, some of whom were remotely interested a year or so ago. This year, not so much. Entertaining stuff, though, we just prefer the NFL, and Premiere League soccer!!
  3. Welcome aboard, Matt!
  4. I guess it really depends. Some would argue there are excellent-sensitivity rods in the $100 range now such that you don't need to spend the higher dollar. Totally subjective, I realize. For me, I have an Avid, at $170, but I'm really not sold on its superiority over say, the BPS Carbonlite. Sure, components are better on the Avid, and the blank is, but to my hands, it never was an order of magnitude more sensitive. So for me and my hands, the Carbonlite is just fine for the jobs I assign them to. Wacky, TX, Mojo, Jika, Jigs, etc. I'm not saying a $200 rod is NOT more sensitive, but neither is it an absolute that it IS more sensitive. YOU are the final arbiter of what you feel when holding the rod.
  5. For me, lightness is a concern, so it is the Carbonlite series all the way. Whenever I visit BPS, I try to pick up rods to compare and ... just because. Never was a fan of the old hump grip, and to me, the Extremes were tip-heavy, as compared to the Carbonlites. But they're fine rods as everyone says. It is all about your preferences. Now I'm hearing really good things about the new white Carbonlites. And I'm not happy about it. Just means I might have to buy one. Sheesh.
  6. Goodness, you guys are finding some great deals! I was at DSJ a couple days ago, only some TechSpec rods on clearance, none of interest to me... However, for $7 I was able to land 3 BooYah jigs and a Strike King football jig, as well as a Dip n glo marker. Not bad savings
  7. Awesome fly! Hope you don't get snowed out! My youngest is in 5th grade. Doesn't like school, tho despite having an awesome male teacher. Some of my fondest school memories are of my 5th grade year. Mr. Jephson was very cool, interesting, and made learning fun. May your students say the same about you!
  8. Hiya Richard! Welcome aboard! Nice setup, btw!
  9. I thought about Palmettokayak's design, but I ended up building one more similar to the TrailTrekker. If I had the money, I'd buy one of his without question. They float, they disassemble easily, pack into your yak, etc. I built mine on a similar principle using washer hose from Home Depot, some 1/2" zinc coated rod for the axle, some 12" tires via Northern Tool, as well as a V for the hull of my boat at Northern Tool that slides onto the axle. Have some 1/2" PVC that covers the axle. Works like a champ.
  10. Somehow I think you really don't want any help It can be a fun addiction, so long as your wallet can support it!
  11. XPS fluoro - the white box version. I have about 3 spools, but really only use pure FC every so often. Most of my use (via leader) is going to be Yo-Zuri Hybrid or less often now, P-Line Floroclear. If I was more serious about FC, I'd probably try some highly-recommended Tatsu, Sniper, etc.
  12. Wow! First one AND you used a baitcaster!? Dude, welcome aboard!
  13. Finally dropped to $1.84 near us - but only one station, all the rest are around $1.94 give or take. So nice to fill up my truck and not drop $80+ !!!
  14. Hey Trent, welcome aboard!
  15. Have to agree, inflated or deflated, it wouldn't have mattered. That was a beat down, plain and simple.
  16. Congrats on the nice bass, gents! I had no strikes yesterday at all. It was yard cleanup day, gutter cleanout day, and no fishing was had.
  17. Welcome!
  18. Welcome aboard!
  19. Welcome aboard!
  20. Welcome aboard, Mitch!
  21. Welcome aboard!
  22. Welcome aboard!
  23. Oh I'm aware, alright!! My dreams beat it by at least 2 pounds.
  24. I do, indeed! Sometimes I daydream with my eyes closed - purposefully pondering fishing. Often it includes a state record... I've imagined a WR bass, but hey, I tone it down to state so as to dream a more achievable dream, LOL!!
