  1. First, welcome aboard. Second, I only use leaders, and the max fluoro I use is 12 pounds. For stronger needs like flipping I use 15 pound Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Others will chime in. My primary is to wish you a welcome to the forums.
  2. Hi Kyle, and welcome aboard!
  3. Good grief that's a big Wels. Wow. Noodle? Only in a bowl with soy sauce, thank you very much.
  4. Plus a rod trade-in, that could present a very nice deal.... hmmm. I'm really wanting to feel the new ones before I buy another CL (black) model. But I really like the black, soooo.... "Honey, I know there's no reel on those rods. YET! But they were on SALE and I couldn't pass it up!" Wife to me:
  5. I have been using the BPS Ascend fishing kayak PFD for several years now. I "skimped" on price, but to be very honest, it is NOT a skimpy PFD. It is quite good and I wear it all the time. Now, it is showing signs of wear, and in need of replacing in the next year or two, in which time I'll be faced with the decision to replace it... But realize it may be less expensive than the Stohlq... but it will keep you afloat just as well.
  6. Welcome aboard, Jon!
  7. Absolutely Terry MUST be in the circle of elites!! Freakishly good drummer. Amazing. Loved his work with Jeff Beck.
  8. Belated welcome, Anthony!
  9. They're on the bucket list for my sons and me! No experience other than what I've watched on TV.
  10. Hey Chad, welcome aboard!
  11. I never have problems with my 45 year old eyes, though sometimes reading glasses would be nice It is quite easy to tie Albrights or uni-to-uni leader knots with PP 10#. My leaders go up to 15# test.
  12. I use Shimano Stradic 1000FI reels for my bass spinning setups. Absolutely love them. I have caught numerous 6-7 pound bass on these, too. I spool all my spinning reels with 10 pound Power Pro, and always tie a leader. These are great reels, plenty of heft to bring in beasts stuck in salad, too. I used 4-8 pound copoly lines in the past on these. Braid is SO MUCH better to manage it isn't even a question in my mind now.
  13. Cool. Thanks. Look forward to the comparison. Hoping to get to BPS this week, but not sure I will be able to.
  14. Ok. Thanks, Torque. So would you say the lightness is about the same?
  15. Sounds great! I went out today to beat the winter storm (not so much a storm down here) since the barometric pressure was so low. But the northerly winds were not my friend. In fact, today was a skunk of a day!
  16. Any comparison between the black and white models? I've not gotten hands-on with the whites yet. Want to be armed when I go in to the store, LOL. So a ML 6'6" comparison a M 6'6" comparison, etc. among spinning and casting. If nobody's got a comparison, I'll try in the next week or two...or three.
  17. Welcome aboard!
  18. Welcome aboard!
  19. Welcome aboard!
  20. Welcome aboard, Brian!
  21. Welcome aboard! If you can't afford a scale yet, a good idea would be to have a tape measure of sorts - like the ones used in sewing - that you can get girth and length. Flexible for the girth. Or you could have a "rope" that you have pre-measured/marked that you can measure afterward. There is an estimate calculator here, and elsewhere on the web.
  22. Awesome bass! The kilo thing Has happened to me, too.
