  3. I've used Eagle Claws in the past. My primary hooks are Gamakatsu. I like Split Shot/Dropshot hooks in 1/0 on which I tie my own weedless guards. Also like the Wide Gap Finesse hooks. Gammy O'Shaugnessy hooks for TX rigging. Also use/used Owner, VMC, Daichii, others. Gammy has my attention for quality, availability, sharpness, and general durability.
  4. Made a huge difference for me with lighter lures. I can throw weightless, wacky rigged Zoom Tiny Flukes on my 50e/6'6"ML Carbonlite combo. Not very far, granted, but I can cast 'em. I can pinpoint Zoom Finesse worms 30+ feet. So I am *very* happy with the bearing upgrades.
  5. The Hampton, VA BPS sent all their rods to corporate. Fortunately for me, I was in Richmond today for a soccer tourney and was able to hit their BPS during downtime between games. Picked up a 6'6" ML spinning Carbonlite for $60. I'd say there were maybe 25 CLs there, a few black Johnny Morris Sigs, some Rage, and other rods. Wanted a 6'6" M Carbonlite, but settled for the ML. Good to go now with my four main rigs having Carbonlites, Cronarch 50e's and Stradic 1000FI's.
  6. Nice reel, impressive spool time. Got ABEC 7's from HawgTech on my two Chronarch 50e reels. Love 'em!

  9. Was a tad disappointed in this years' sale. I wanted to see a broader sale on terminal tackle as in years past (at least to my recall). Wish local BPS kept the old black Carbonlites in stock rather than sending their stock back to corporate. But, I bought 1 bag of Zoom Finesse worms in Sprayed Grass (to try out), and a 50 count bag of Junebug Stik-o's. On that, I wish BPS offered more variety of Stik-Os in the 50 count. Would like to have seen some 4" versions in Watermelon Magic, heck, any in that color. But hey, was a good deal, and I'm determined to have success with Junebug, so there ya have it!
  10. Agree. I've got three black Carbonlites, 1 spinning, 2 casting. Love them. So light and plenty of sensitivity. I use all of mine for a variety of techniques, but mostly wacky, mojo, cranks, etc. I'd love to add one more black to my repertoire. The white models are indeed nice, and very light, comparable to the black as I was able to compare a second time last night. But I just like the black better (color-wise). But I'm certain the white will be awesome if I end up having to swap one of my blacks out during the first year warranty.
  11. Welcome aboard, John!
  12. Thanks for the response, DVT. Interesting. So if, say, I were to have these guides put on an existing rod to replace the current guides, knowing that I use a Stradic 1000 and a Chronarch 50e would help you know which guides to use. The Stradic using 10lb PP, the Chronarc, 20lb PP.
  13. Take it back to BPS (with receipt) but not to return it. Ask to try several reels out on it, you need to answer the question of what's best for yourself. We all have different preferences for what *feels* right. Me? Shimano Stradic 1000FI felt best and balanced best in MY hands than other reels like the Pfluegers, Quantums, etc. So I became sold on Shimano beginning with feel, then reputation followed. But you may feel differently and opt for a Daiwa or Mitchell, or other brand. Seriously, try out multiple reels on it - even in different sizes like 2500-size, 1500, 1000 and see what feels right.
  14. Curious about that, I've often wondered if 10 pound Power Pro at 2# mono equivalent, would still pose a problem for the K guides.
  15. Have you done a forum search? It is a very popular Senko knock-off. Lots of topics with it. I use it all the time and love it.
  16. I don't know about the other two, but wow, the new JM Sig series rods are *very* sweet. Lighter to my hands than the previous generation, and the new guides are awesome.
  17. If I recall correctly, I believe it was $36 for a combo fresh/saltwater license here in Virginia for a year license.
  18. Nice fish! Love catching smallies. Only wish they were down in my neck of VA...

  22. My wife installed a force field around my computers and my iPhone that thwarts all attacks from the JDM Monkey.
  23. Welcome aboard!
  24. Hmm. One that I don't catch a lot of fish on anymore would be the Arbogast Jitterbug. Next would be the SK Red Eye lipless crank. For catching fish, Senkos and knock-offs.
