  1. That's a beauty, Lou! Can't wait to get out here in VA.
  2. Welcome to the forums. Are you a bank-beater, or do you have a means to get around to different spots at the lake?
  3. Welcome aboard, Junyer!
  4. Excellent review, Goose. Those are sweet reels.
  5. Welcome aboard!
  6. Hi Shawn, welcome aboard!
  7. Really, your experience should be your judge. Try it with a leader, maybe try mono and pure fluoro and see if there's a difference for you. I fish a leader 100% of the time, 90% will be a copolymer line like Yo Zuri Hybrid anywhere from 4-15 pound test. For me it is a confidence thing. Not so much for visibility, although that is a "plus" if you think it matters. There's also abrasion resistance with fluoro, etc.
  8. Bob, when using 10# PP, I'd suggest doing 7-10 wraps UP, then 4-5 back down. I have found this to be the strongest. If using thin line - like 6-8, I up the wraps UP the line. I like to think I tie a very good knot, tight, layered properly. So everyone's mileage may vary depending on how the knot is tied, etc. Sorry I don't have pix, but a quick google and you'll find a number of videos and animated knot sites that show how to tie a standard, modified Albright. That's how I learned.
  9. Hey Kyle, welcome aboard! Lots of us kayak fishermen on the forums!
  10. I've done so with live nightcrawlers. Success? You betcha! But they attract a LOT of little fellers.
  11. Welcome aboard, Patrick.
  12. Pretty much the same for me. Soft plastics are just more productive for me, and I'm out there for fun and enjoyment, not tournaments, so I tend to stay with what works for me... I will fish other lures though.
  13. Agreed. Love my 6'6" ML Carbonlite. I have the black, no problem getting the white, tho.
  14. I love my Chronarch 50e's. Phenomenal reels. I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the Curado I.
  15. I, too, have BPS fluoro (white box) and do use it from time to time. But I mainly use Yo-Zuri Hybrid in green for my leaders. One reason is because I have bought so much of it (for cheap) in 600 yard spools. That lasts a LONG time when used as a leader!! So I agree that it is a great all-around line. I have no problem using it for bottom contact, wacky, TX, Mojo, Jika, cranks, spinnerbaits, etc.
  16. Congrats, Dwight!
  17. Well, he's still alive! Definitely one of my faves, as well.
  18. Fascinating report!
  19. Same here. I have a few Yamamoto "white" slim senkos, otherwise, I rarely fish white soft plastics. I've had great success with Zoom watermelon gold lizards - wacky rigged, no weight, when bed fishing, white will be added to my arsenal this year, methinks.
  20. Hey Zach, welcome aboard!
  21. LOL!! There's a great joke in there somewhere.
  22. There are a lot of excellent hooks out there for wacky rigging. I have personally settled on either the Gammy Wide Gap Finesse 1/0 or Gammy Split/drop shot hooks from 1-2/0.
  23. Yo-Zuri Hybrid in whatever lb test. Cheap, on sale at TW as stated above, also via eBay.
  24. Probably the key here: "proficient with it" I do not consider myself proficient with mine. I imagine if I did feel that way, I wouldn't leave home without it.
