  1. Welcome aboard!
  2. I've not paddled them, but I think they're great yaks based on a lot of reviews I've read. A few folks on the forum have one, so they're best to answer. Personally, I would put a motor on the back of a Lure if I were to own one, as I've done with my Native Ultimate 12. Needless to say, I think the Lure yaks are a great deal. Got a friend with a Moken, he loves it. Lure has the better seat and slightly different layout.
  3. No, but seeing this is your first post, let me be first to welcome you aboard!
  4. Welcome aboard, Robyn!
  5. For me, the worst miss was what I assumed to be a new PB at around 8+ pounds. I thought I had that sucker buttoned up, but as I brought it close to the yak, I had my youngest son hold out the net to get her secured. As he held it and as I pulled the fish toward the net, she promptly puckered her lips and spit the hook back at us and did a tail dance before she dove back down to the depths. At least we got to see her. Wish I coulda weighed her, but c'est la vie!
  6. To the OP, Jon, welcome aboard. You've got plenty of suggestions, just wanted to welcome you to the forums. I've never had to use Shimano warranty services yet....
  7. Welcome aboard, Richard! Lots of us yak fisherfolk on the forums. Great place for knowledge expansion and such
  8. No idea, but welcome to the forums!
  9. I've never felt that way, and I've never owned a bass boat. I just wanted to glean the wisdom of bass fishing from those more experienced than me. So far, it's been awesome! And I'm a kayak fisherman. I did fish out of a canoe before going the yak route.
  10. Either way, I prefer MLF over all the other tourneys. Great stuff. KVD is a beast on that show.
  11. Welcome aboard, James!
  12. Welcome aboard!
  13. Welcome aboard!
  14. Same answer from me.
  15. I go by the old feel the tap, count to 3 and set the hook. Sometimes that's a quick three, other times it's a "hmm, I lost count" three. Either way, when I'm fishing soft plastics I reel down and lift, and in some cases heft the hook with a decent set, but only if I'm using heavy gauge hooks.
  16. Great information here. One of the reasons this site is awesome!
  17. Been pretty rough down here in Hampton Roads. Hot and humid and little wind. All that means, at least for me, stay inside.
  18. Welcome back to fishing, FM!
  19. Welcome aboard!
  20. Welcome aboard!
  21. Dang it, my digi-scale went down to Davy Jones' Locker last week. My Boga Grip, is now the main scale!!
  22. Welcome aboard, Adam!
  23. Great fish whatever it weighs! Here's a tip - get a simple grip scale, and if you have belt loops, attach it to one while you're bank fishing. Works great. While I have a Boga Grip now, I also have one of these and it is rather accurate as I test it often. My boys use it now: http://www.basspro.com/EconoScale-Fish-Scales/product/90579/
  24. Welcome aboard!
  25. Barrels of fun, they are, especially on long poles (kind w/o reels)!
