  1. Hi Pete, welcome aboard!
  2. Welcome aboard!
  3. Welcome aboard, Zach!
  4. Welcome aboard!
  5. That's good to know. At least you are informed. My canoe was a 16' Grumman, and it was not very stable. I used homemade pontoons so I could stand. Taking a passenger was rather simple in the 16'er. In fact, I could take two passengers, although it still wasn't optimal, but it was far better than what I can do now. If I were to do it "again", I'd probably try to get a 14' hybrid canoe/kayak like my Native Ultimate. As it stands, I do the trolling motor thing with my 12', and it is awesome. Good luck with your project!
  6. I agree with Goose, a 12' canoe or kayak would feel very cramped for two. So I'd also suggest a minimum of 14' for what you're looking for. Will add more cost, but it'll be worth it. I took my (now 11 year old) youngest son with me on my 12' Native Ultimate-- which is a hybrid yak/canoe-- and while it was do-able, it wasn't optimal. There's no way in H-E-double hockey sticks, I could take another adult in my yak...

  9. Welcome aboard! Here's a thread for you on Toledo Bend:
  10. Wow, Glenn. You're lucky. If I convince my wife to got to Bass Pro, it actually means she waits in the truck while I go into BPS... She just doesn't do the fishing stores....
  11. Happy bass, happy angler!
  12. Darren.

    how many?

10 ish. Usable? Maybe 3. The rest are old, from my Dad's collection.
  13. And the new pond greeted you nicely!
  14. Nice haul today!
  15. Hit Google Maps and follow route 64 up from Norfolk. You will hit Sandy Bottom Park, then Bethel Reservoir, keep going and you'll hit Newport News Park (Lee Hall Reservoir). In between those, and from 64, take 17 north you'll find Harwood's Mill. There's also Lake Maury in Newport News by Christopher Newport University. But on the South Side there are plenty of spots that hold bass as I've been told!
  16. Sorry I can't help you with the area you're fishing tomorrow, but since you're new to the site, let me be the first to welcome you aboard! Now if you fish the Peninsula, I'll suggest Harwood's Mill, Lee Hall (both need permits), Bethel Reservoir, Waller Mill, etc.
  17. I have Stradic FJ 1000 which balances perfectly i.e., tip-light for me, on a 6'6" BPS White Carbonlite. The FJ 1000 is, I think, a 1/2 oz heavier than the 2500 CI4+, so it would balance tip light, as well.
  18. Translations from J-to-E are rather difficult for non-native/non-trained English as 2nd language people. I see it all the time when I frequent the Japanese tackle sites. But I do know, from personal experience with Japanese in business, that they are extremely honorable, and stand by their products. That said, there is always an exception to the rule, but I've not come across a Japanese person that didn't treat me with utmost respect, despite having that loss-in-translation thing going on, LOL.
  19. Interesting... !
  20. I can verify HawgTech bearings are excellent. I put ABEC7s into my Chronarch 50e reels and the difference was significant. Can't speak to Hedgehog bearings, but I know others can.
  21. Hi Jason, I don't have an answer, but I noticed you are new to the site, so I wanted to welcome you!
  22. Welcome aboard! Are you specifically speaking of Zoom Finesse worms? Or worms in general used in a finesse manner of fishing? There are several ways to do it, depending on the worm. For all of them, though, you can simply bend the worm in half and place your hook through the middle (bend) of the worm perpendicularly. Or you could place a 1/4-1/2 inch piece of shrink tubing over the middle of the worm and hook through it the same way. Or you could use the O-ring method...which I don't, so I can let others describe that. Note: wacky rigging is my favorite way to fish, and I primarily fish it with the hook placed perpendicular through the worm's middle.
  23. I've got some pix in my gallery of what I did to make a mount... I've got the details somewhere...just not sure where at the moment.
  24. Welcome aboard, Don!
