  1. I think generally a 2500 size is pretty much the "agreed upon" size spinning reel for bass fishing, but discussions have gone to 3000 and 4000 size reels. Sometimes discussion refers to the positive of having more line. My question to everyone is, have you ever actually been spooled while bass fishing (spinning or casting)? Suppose that could be open ended, i.e., "yes, by a sturgeon" or a 100# catfish...in which case maybe the waters fished require larger reels with more line capacity... I love 1000 size reels for bassing and have never had a worry about my line, this after many bass over 6# in sticks, laydowns, open water, bridge pylons, grass, and so on. Again, just a curiosity. I remember watching Larry Dahlberg get spooled with his Curado 200 down in Mexico. Only because he didn't tie his braid down (no backing and didn't tie to the spool)... and it was on a cast with a weighty lure, which sailed away, LOL.
  2. Agree- I've watched other videos and while an "about time" thing it is still going to require leaning forward and pulling the proverbial plug. When I'm fighting a fish I just reach down to my left and turn the dial box into reverse or whereever, using my feet to steer with my hand(s) still on the rod/reel fighting the fish. Sometimes I've had to change between FW and REV quickly and that's really easy for me with an e-yak, easier with a pedal drive, likely. Surely Hobie will eventually create something easier to switch Reviews by the unsponsored Hobie owners will tell a lot when it is released.
  3. My .02: a 4000 is rather big for bass fishing in my book, but certainly not unheard of. I'd probably go for a 25/2500 size if I were you, take your pick of brand. Me, I use 1000 size for 97% of my bass fishing and have never been spooled or had issue with drag despite catching dozens of bass over 6# not to mention logs, weed salads and so on. But that's me. I prefer smaller reels which tend to be lighter.
  4. Not sure your needs in terms of distance with your TM, but I switched from an 85AH battery to a sealed AGM wheelchair battery from Batteries Plus. Weighs far less than the former, and I've never run out despite it being a 35AH batt. Model is a Werker WKDC12-35J
  5. J "Dr. Seuss" Francho pens proverbic post piling P's proving pricey pedals perplex phishermen.
  6. No doubt! This is one of the reasons I went with a DIY trolling motor setup. And I LOVE it. Beats paddling or pedaling any day, IMO
  7. Agreed, weighty for sure. With a truck, loading/unloading is easier for me at this time...however, $$$, is not anywhere near a new kayak any time soon.
  8. Saaaay! Well I oughta! I oughta say they're the Bills Head Coach Club... Rex n' Rob. Together they make the Three... Like this:
  9. All hail our Founders:
  10. Sorry, sir. Better days ahead...before the snow. And nice to know you're also part of the Knucklehead club.
  11. Wow, I did not know Hobie intro'd REVERSE! That is awesome!! Wonder if this requires a new form for the drive to fit into, or if it is compatible with today's models?
  12. Or if anyone is so inclined there's the H2Pro-Ped. I came across this a couple years back when looking for some DIY ideas ... went with my own electric motor setup. http://h2proped.com/
  13. I always liked the looks of Quantum reels, especially the newer models since the Smoke and EXO reels came out. I'm not in the market any longer for casting gear (at least at this point), and I've settled on Shimano for spinning reels... But I'm always interested when new gear comes out....
  14. Haven't used yet, but I've been quite interested in them for a long time. Also, new hook from Gammy made for Shin Fukai: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/icast16cat.html?ccode=GAMA16A&catvid=Terminal That's the same hook, the octopus swivel hook...not the split/drop I thought it was at first.
  15. Welcome to the forums! I'd agree it is entirely up to you. Congrats on the catch, as well. My PB of 7.5# did not get a mount. I did think about it, though, prefer to catch a DD and get a mount of that instead, but that's just me. If I catch anything between my PB and a DD, I'd probably consider it strongly just on adrenaline of the catch alone!!
  16. Welcome aboard!
  17. Welcome aboard, Enoc!
  18. I've done this before, and yes, it is amazing to see how far one has progressed.
  19. I remember those days with my boys. Cherish it! I agree with Jeff, frame it!
  20. Welcome aboard, Shaun!
  21. Sometimes I ask myself why I've been a life-long Bills fan... Broncs looked pretty decent today.
  22. Interesting ........ But welcome to the forums!
  23. I've met plenty of great folk here in Virginia. Only a few knuckleheads worthy of ... well, chastisement, or outright anger. But you're better off letting them have whatever than facing them. They most likely should be on medication and are not....
  24. They look similar (in shape) to my favorite GYCB Shad-Shape Worm baits! I love them for drop shot and/or wacky.
